This is game of the year for sure. a game that came out at a reasonable price and is actually well designed across the board. we don't get many of those. It needs to get all the accolades. I might just buy another copy I love it so much.

it's just a garbage echo of the original game, with added sidequest garbage, utterly broken exploration mechanics, due to 'procedural generation' and a story that has already been told and so is just a re-visit, with nothing new that can be learned. The game doesn't respect itself when it tells you there's this super urgent mission but then gives you all this sidequest busywork, how can I take it seriously?

edit: downgrading the score to a 0 after I was just forced to follow an NPC to a location, which quite frankly infuriated me. I wanted to go through a door and investigate but each time I tried to go, the NPC would shout at me and I would be teleported back to 'the right path'. Games that claim to encourage experimentation and creativity, should not turn around and take away all your agency at the developers whim. It's quite frankly abusive. As a result i just jabbed the button to get past the sequence as fast as possible, and go back to the door I wanted to go in. Then after I was ready to go to the destination, nothing happened there because I'd already skipped it all in a blind rage. Games are meant to give you a sense of power and agency, a sense of joy and wonder. This game offers some fun, but on it's own terms and only if you submit to it's control. This game is a good metaphor for what Nintendo has become.

Regardless of other issues surrounding this game, constantly displaying an ADVERT for your dark arts pack at the start of my game is absolutely disgusting behaviour. I will not be buying games from this company in future.

So much bad design in this, I just can't recommend this. I want to relax and have fun but this game makes me angry. "That must be the engineer over there" who? Where? No direction is indicated and I literally can't see anybody."The archive must be in that building past the town" What town? who am I looking for? There are series issues with this, either the writing, the environmental design, the scenario design, or something. Even the audio recording has major problems, I can't understand what they are saying without subtitles and I am a native English speaker. There's so many glitches that are just annoying and just fundamentally bad design decisions. for example, placing breakable boxes that are out of reach, the only way to get the contents is to jump off the edge which kills you. the environment is so full of random things to break, I challenge anyone not to get focused on that and miss everything else that's going on. I've heard many sound effects or characters talking and turned around and see *something* happening but can't tell what it is. I've run into an area that has been empty, looking like an arena but no enemies. jump off the side to get a breakable box and respawn in the arena surrounded by enemies. There is so much broken and nonsensical stuff in this, it just makes me frustrated.

So far I haven't even managed to play the frickin game. Resolution is different from my desktop resolution in borderless windowed and I can't change t so it messes up my desktop. HDR got borked and refuses to activate. Character models are really bad, they should have stuck with the style of the last game with no humans in it. Hair acts weird and I couldn't exit the game and then it wouldn't start again making me restart my machine. This is badly put together, I know why this is free on Epic now.

t was so much fun to play at first, but as time goes on, it becomes less fun and starts to feel like I'm ticking off items on a list. Each level is not a challenge to get past, it is a chore to farm resources to unlock gates. This has been compared to Super Mario World, but that game had unexpected things to find and secret shortcuts and the super secret special zone, but every 'secret' in this game is rather expected and seems to fit a formula. Each level has these specific goals you have to get and it eventually becomes a case of rinse and repeat. I'm now growing tired of wandering around an open field looking for another stage to clear to get the seeds to get past the piranha plants. It's not exciting any more.

It's not even a good game. let's put the technical issues aside and look at the level design. look at this way, you can do wall jumps off it and back onto it, like a gravity defying frog, it's completely implausible even for star wars, but aside from that, the only reason you can do it is because there's some vertical scratches, suggesting that people are doing this a lot?? and any wall that doesn't have vertical scratch marks just repels you completely for no reason. That's just one example of the completely arbitrary design decisions in this. and I MEAN arbitrary. There is just no rhyme or reason to so many of the traversal mechanics in this game. aside from that, they have stretched everything out to make the game bigger, but it just makes it boring-er. Then there's the visual design. In what universe do impassable force field present as green?? Certainly not Star Wars, that's for sure. For some bizarre reason, the developers decided to use the universal colour for 'go' to identify a thing that actually 'stop's you. of course it's technically bad too. I even managed to get it to run smooth, but even then it feels HEAVY and there are nasty clipping issues. It's an absolute joke.

It's just full of terrible design choices. you collect seeds to give to the plant people to make them do a magical dance to make your bag bigger.... so utterly arbitrary and convoluted. why couldn't there be something tangible? like finding pouches or like finding a bigger bag? Nope, magic dance and finding seed, in very repetitive ways. then there's the NPC's that transform into mega annoying enemies that don't give you much useful stuff. what does that teach me nintendo? it teaches me that I get punished for talking to NPC's, so naturally, I don't feel safe to talk to NPC's any more. genius move. Oh yes, then there is the GODDAMN GATHCA MACHINE, which has me wasting the resources I collected, just to try and get one of each item, I don't play games for gambling mechanics, this is reprehensible. The amazing stuff you can make, disappears if you walk too far from it, some of them even disappear midway through using them. If you want to ride a horse to travel faster, you can't use fast travel because the horse can't fast travel, except that is, if you go to a stable, where it can then be teleported from one stable to another... there is no logic to this. I go to trouble of exploring, to see if I find something interesting, and what's my reward? another bloody shrine, where i can solve a puzzle to get a light orb, to go to a statue, to choose either heart or stamina.... another convulted bit of BUSYWORK, rather than actually finding tangible things in the world like heart pieces. zelda used to be fun exploration that had a sense of discovery, but I don't feel much DISCOVERY from finding another damn shrine, or whatever collectable or currency is flavour of the moment.

I'm sure it's nice, but I don't expect to purchase a game expansion and be unable to play it. subscriptions in this day and age are unacceptable. You don't give any playtime with the game purchase, so you then charge £10 on top of that to be able to actually play the new adventure. I thought that's what I was buying it for?? to be able to play it?? On top of that, this is an old game at this point. Playing the trial, the gameplay systems are still very dated. After playing Elden Ring, this is a huge step down in so many ways. I'm not interested in PVP or running dungeons with a team, etc. I just thought it might be nice to explore the world and enjoy the story.

I don't like Assassin's Creed games. I love this game. This game has such charm. The characters are interesting and compelling. The gameplay is simple and straightforward, with added depth of upgrading your gear, but it all seems to naturally fit within the world. I tried Origins and Valhalla, but those don't seem to capture my imagination quite the same. I came back to this one because Kassandra is awesome. I also love learning about ancient Greece. This just feels like an action RPG and not so much an assassin's creed game... I don't like Assassin's Creed games. I love this game.

I fell in love with this game within half an hour of starting it and I love it more and more every time I play it. the art is gorgeous, the music is atmospheric, the gameplay is widely varied, fun, engaging, well implemented, the story constantly reaches new depths and becomes more intriguing all the time. I don't understand how an indie developer makes this game... this is a strong contender for my game of 2021. I don't see how a game could surpass this. still don't know how far I am through it or how much more there is. I like that. I like the mystery this game provides.

bad bad awful. the DLC in this game is terrible design from the interns. the paragon interrupts make no sense, the paragon dialogue options are absolutely NOT virtuous in nature. The skirmish at the hotel is triple bad, it starts you in a pit with no effective cover and throws fast advancing enemies to pin you there, making you flounder like a fish in a bucket. random spawn locations for the enemies is not skilful, it is WHACK, totally lacking in good design conventions present throughout the main game.

horrible inconsistent design. some things look like platforms and are, the bit right next to it looks exactly the same but isn't a platform. things that don't look like walls turn out to be walls.spikes hurt you, except when the spikes aren't actually there but are foreground artwork but look exactly the same as the others. the game even gives you extra abilities and doesn't even tell you. the game is telling you to use your feather to get past a bear, but your ability to float with a feather doesn't work and the game completely neglects to tell you that a special move with the feather is now in your menu. it was at that point that I am done with the game. I can't take any more of the frustration. because there has been A LOT of it, so many things, like getting stuck in walls, controls not responding, enemies action totally stupid and throwing themselves into spikes for no reason, multiple useless systems that add nothing to the core game experience.

Initial impressions, after prologue and fair way into chapter 1. The game has unmistakeable charm and has some engaging gameplay elements that are fundamentally robust. So far though, there are several issues that mar the experience. There are enemies that can drop on your head and there seems to be literally zero sign that it's going to happen. I don't find this to be a satisfying 'challenge'. The text sometimes has a tendency to auto advance with very little apparent reason, posing major problems for slower readers. The menu has a very strange arrangement, which can make it confusing to find the item you want to inspect. why aren't the cooking ingredients in the cooking tab for example? why isn't the backpack just on the same tab as quest items? why is the quest screen and the map screen, inbetween the quest items and the backpack? bizarre and nonsensical. The pacing also seems really slow so far. despite that, the pace at which I'm collecting quest items seems to suggest the game is really short. Other issues... The stuttering. I'm playing on an R7 with a rtx 2080 and 32gb ram. My system should not be struggling with this game. when I see electrical cables sparking, I tend to avoid them, yet the game wants you to interact with then, connecting and disconnecting live wires. to say this is irresponsible is an understatement. kids will be playing this.

This is the last straw, I'm not giving this game any more passes. The game is a broken and buggy mess. I was willing to forgive a lot and recommend this, but now I cannot. an incredible cinematic experience, ruined by terrible UX design. All too often a wonderful cool event will happen and just as it is winding down with the music still playing a damn tutorial will appear, completely taking me out of it. This is even with tutorials on minimum. There is also the issue of the NPCs telling you the solutions to puzzles before you get the chance to even look around properly. it's infuriating to be given a puzzle and then a second later the NPC says, oh you should try and hit that over there. The UX design is ABSOLUTELY the number 1 reason this didn't win game of the year. Guys, when you release this for PC can you please sort out the UX design. Also, the menu system and the excessive stats and upgrades could do with being reworked. This game is so damn confusing in that department.
