If this had been a 5 hour film I would have stayed for the whole 5 hours no question, waiting for the sequel is going to be painful.

An inconsistent film to say the least, the action sequences are without a doubt entertaining and the performances turned in by everyone stand up, the story unfortunately degenerates into utter farce and that for me ultimately undermines the potential this film had, this is not a bad film but by the end you will come away underwhelmed.

Not too sure what film the critics watched on this occasion but a 3.5 out of 10 this film is not. The film overall is standard comic book movie stuff, I can see if your a fan of the source material you may be somewhat disappointed but judged on its' own it is an enjoyable film with solid performances from the cast all round, Hardy in particular does a great turn during Brock's more unhinged moments and the action sequences are well put together, the CGI can be a bit jarring at times but not enough to really detract from the film. The interactions between Venom and Brock are equal parts funny and menacing which is even more amusing when you consider both are played by Hardy. I won't go into spoiler territory but suffice to say this isn't Citizen Kane and if you went in expecting that it would be that's more of a you problem than any failing of the film, as I say I understand people upset that this isn't a faithful adaptation of the source material but the fact remains this is a solidly enjoyable comic book film well worth your time and money.
