This is a game with great potential but falls short of greatness. The community desperately needs more players, who are turned away by the combination of toxic experience of being pubstomped by the pros and being berated by them. The lack of matchmaking prevents this from becoming a more widely appreciated title. A diamond in the rough.

The core game, of course, is excellent and a classic. However, as pretty as the 3D table is, the user interface is just a pain, rather than a pleasure, as it was for me in Legends of Norrath.

Review covers multiplayer only: Some great ideas, but the execution is terribly flawed. Aimbotters from day 1 ruining the multiplayer experience combined with a less than polished game leaves me rather bored and going back to my staple BC2 and MW2.

Entrancingly beautiful and very playable with some fiendishly difficult puzzles. Wonderful atmosphere and music. If you played the flash game Samorost you will have an idea of what is in store for you. A classic graphical adventure / puzzle game that will keep you busy for a few days.

If you enjoyed the original DOW2, it's almost worth buying this just to be rid of that horrific Microsoft LIVE Gamer system. Highly recommended to fans of the DOW2 series. Those who skipped the first 2 installments should go straight to this one.

Frantic COOPERATIVE Free Fun. In a world of mainly PVP games it's lovely to play some CO-OP again. The game can be quite brutal and some of the weapons are not that easy to use, but with a bit of patience and three friends, you can have a quite enjoyable evening!

A very intelligent take on 8-bit games, synthesised music, beat games and infuriatingly tricky gameplay. The basic game mechanic is of the arcade trailblazer Pong in a sideways scrolling world but is set to a "8-bit" synthesised soundtrack. The better you do, the richer and more satisfying the soundtrack becomes. Miss a few beats and you start to hear only a few beeps (a la Pong). The only thing which I found a little frustrating is that the better you do, the more psychadelic the graphics become making it rather difficult to see what is going on. There are only three levels but they are of reasonable length and end in a boss stage, reminiscent of classic sideways scrolling shoot-em-ups of the 1990's. The game would have been better if the music gave more cues to how the player should move their paddle, as this could have created some interesting gameplay situations. An indiviual and solid game that just misses the mark of being great.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam5

After the golden Bad Company 2, Vietnam disappoints somewhat. Had this been released earlier, perhaps I would have found it more exciting, but after 400+ hours in BC2, this just didn't feel interesting enough or balanced enough for me to enjoy.

Some great ideas implemented really reall well. It's just a shame that this game remains a bit of a short one trick pony, but what a very stylish pony it is!

Very little new in this game aside from the UI. Gameplay mechanics are the same as ever but the Treyarch engine seems to really really ****. This game doesn't even run properly on many systems that are way beyond the minimum system requirements, even on minimum settings. Many have asked for refunds and got them. Avoid, unless you know what you are in for. Overhyped rubbish.

Superb, addictive, sociable and fiendishly deep PvP gameplay mechanics flawed by terrible server issues (in Europe at least) game droppers, abusive and cynical community and a buggy engine. Has the potential to be a 10.

A flawed classic. Nothing has the scale or immersion of large scale combined forces 3D FPS combat like Planetside. Nothing has the drama of defending a base for 12 minutes and almost losing it in the final 3. Nothing feels quite like driving a tank with a gunner in voice communications (you will need access to a voice comms client to get the most out of this game) choosing targets and avoiding enemy fire. The net code is seriously flawed, the game has several unfixed bugs and exploits, the learning curve can be fiendishly hard and some aspects of the game are just incredibly dull. However most of the core online community are back in this game on the news of Planetside Next, so if you've never experienced Planetside, now is not a bad time to see it.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty8

This game is solid throughout. Good storyline and great cutscenes in the single player, a good feel to the game in the multiplayer. Great soundtrack and effects. Graphics are reasonably good, but they lack the style and panache of Warhammer 40K's Dawn of War series in my opinion. If you are a Starcraft fanboy you are going to love this, especially all the matchmaking options built into the game, but if you are merely someone who loves good RTS games, you will enjoy this, but you will also see some of its flaws as well, namely: Confused, somewhat messy looking unit models (especially for Terrans) and very little in the way of sense of humour or gimmicks to keep you interested. This is a Solid RTS game through and through.

A classy game with some really innovative ideas, perhaps let down by shallow gameplay and balance issues. It combines gamplay elements of DOTA, Team Fortress 2 and tactical shooters like BC2. Definitely was worth the price. The biggest issue is finding balanced online games, because one or two really good players on a server can soon cause the teams to become stacked. I'm not sure whether this game has the depth of gameplay required to keep me playing it long term, but if you are looking for something with a great sense of humour and a bit different, it's worth the budget pricetag they're asking.
