I have played Larian's RPGs Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 which were excellent games. They completely outdid themselves with BG3. It's familiar, nostalgic, sharp and fresh all at the same time. Yeah there are bugs. Lots of them. But the game is so good, overlooking bugs is trivial. If all games were made with this much attention to the player, the audience, it truly would be a gamer's paradise. Now I understand why other big established developer teams were upset at Larian a month ago. Larian is master esoteric professor who lives in the treacherous mountain pass; complaining devs are the students who refuse to walk to school up hill through the snow because it's hard.

Diablo IV

Blizz details are real nice. The game is more of Diablo 3 tweaked. It's fun but gets rote real quick. Should be free to play. If you dare engage with the story, you will become dumber. Funny enough, Diablo 3 vanilla at launch was more fun through the main thread. This is just a hot mess and that's not where the vomitous lack of thought ends. It actually gets worse. 9/10 for attention to detail in art. 3/10 for attention to a good experience. Don't muck with something that works. Doubling down on mucking with what works is worse than trying to fix it at all.

I have loved Tabletop BattleTech for decades. This so scratches that itch it's absurd. I don't even think it's clunky. It's really true to the BT ethos. Hard, tactical and messy. The game actually takes it easy on you compared to actual tabletop lol. Such a good rendition **** game that you will remember in dreams that you stomped on someone's face and moved on the the other doomed idiot who tried to oppose you.

This is VR's "Matrix Jump Program" First time players will be blown away. Cyberpunk badass ninja FPS RPG slice and dice em up with guns and bullet time. Short on story but a hell of a lot of fun.

I love shmups to death This is in the uncanny valley of great shmups. It's great! But it falls just a bit short of being glorious. Benching against Ikaruga (one of the best shmups of all time) Astebreed takes a lot from its spiritual predecessors and delivers a solid drop kick to the face of arcade space blasting. Think the beauty of Ikaruga, camera of Einhander and some of the mechanics of Radiant Silvergun with even more in store all wrapped up in a crazy fluid and chaotic package. Oh and it has a better, more fleshed out story than any of the aforementioned. First and foremost, it's a blast, literally, such enjoyable mayhem. It's easy to feel like a badass saving humanity. Story is good. Has some EVA aspects (

Strike Vector
10

Strike Vector is horribly underrated. It's as if you combined the multiplayer aspects of Descent 3, Quake 2 and a metric ton of amphetamines. Keep a spare keyboard and that carpal tunnel? Never mind that. There is simply no arcade style flying blast fest like it and despite its steep learning curve, the finer points of BATTEL are so well refined that it could be a professional competition. The top of the curve is HIGH. It's awesome to watch new players go from wet paper bags, over time, to mass murdering samurai. It's easy to fly, easy to kill but even easier to die. To do those gracefully is really, really hard but infinitely satisfying when you can head fake a great pilot into the exact position you need to melt his face with some well placed rockets. And it all happens in split seconds. I like that the arcade emphasis is on killing and totally ignores dying. It tracks crashing, but no one gives a damn. This would've been an amazing 4 player quarter muncher back in the early 90's, especially if it had Afterburner II style **** to shake you around in. Only con is a small but tightly knit and cool player base for an arena game. Maybe another is the general lack of team tactics but that's a player thing. Can't fault the game for it. The potential is there. Hands down one of my favorites if not number 1 and I've put around 200 hours into it. It's just that much teeth grinding fun. Weak pansies, man up and blast through the skies to die.

Goat Simulator is true juvenile mayhem. A playground for the imagination flinging people into crowds, barreling through penthouses sending the top floor partygoers plummeting into traffic and getting the gas tank launch just right with a car in tow for an exquisite display of "what the f***" sailing through the air across the map through a roller coaster and into the sea.

I can't do this game quite the justice it deserves. It is crescent fresh, absolutely gorgeous and charming! I won't spoil the mechanics but they will twist your mind in unheard-of ways. The story and world interaction made me all fuzzy inside. The sound deserves a great system cranked way way up. I wish all games sounded this good. Not only the sound effects but the music, so odd and otherworldly, just divine. Oh and talk about tough puzzles. There are plenty. The only disappointment was after about 70% the way through it just got repetitive. I never actually finished it but it's one of those games where when you come back after a hiatus, there's a metric ton of enjoyment awaiting you. One hint. Don't jump ahead, play it through in its proper sequence. (which is tough to figure out at first) It's much much more satisfying. 8/10 but gave it a 9 for bravery, charm and sheer imagination.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition

Guacamelee combines a huge swath of the best game mechanics ever devised, stuffs them into a barbacoa burrito and will punch off your head with such velocity that the blood will rocket from your neck and propel your lifeless body all the way to Phoenix. No really, it's Cartoon Sushi of the best of everything. Metroid, Zelda, Earthworm Jim, Castlevania, Smash Bro's, Portal, Gunstar Heroes and countless more inspiring titles; there are so many great classics represented here in the most genius subtle tamale pie bake of all their fine elements, I'm left speechless. Yet, it's completely fresh and unique and adds to that cadre with its own twists. It's unbelievably addictive and so much deeper than I ever would've guessed. Quick list of amazing traits. Art Gorgeous. Samauri Jack meets Nacho Libre. You have to simply experience it. The visual cues are perfect. GamePlay Breakneck and satisfying. I can't say more without spoiling it. Attention to detail is thicker than molasses. It takes some skill but jaw dropping things will result. Story Classic. Few games can pull off this simple story, hit a grand slam and do it with style to spare. Imagine Zelda Mario Portal Earthworm Jim Okami all smashed together. Sound You want 5.1 surround. Crank it. Bring Tequila. Control The depth, speed and responsiveness are so well done the only problem I found was remembering how much beat unmerciful you have at your disposal. Definitely my favorite aspect. Overall Great wholesome, scream-at-your-screen-in-ecstatic-frustration-because-you-were-so-friggen-close FUN. This would've been an instant 90's classic giving the likes Sonic and Crash a run for their money. Also, co-op, though I haven't had a chance to experience how insane that must be. The only con I have found is it leaves you wanting more. However, replay-ability, yup it's got that. I would wager a bet this would be a smash at parties w/ co-op. There are a lot of good side-scrollers coming out these days. This is one of the best. Absolute 10/10
