The Last of Us Part II2
Jun 21, 2020
The difference between user score and critic score should tell you all you need to know. This game does its best to please the SJW side ("journalists" giving it a 100 as if ANY FREAKING GAME in history would ever be 100% perfect, give me a break!) while completely **** on the loyal fans of the franchise. If you think you'll get a game like the first one in terms of story and characters, you need to stay the hell away from it. Naughty Dog made everyone believe that this game was about Joel and Ellie again, but it's really not, and I can't go any further without spoiling things, but let's just say Joel is treated like a random side character.

Mass Effect 38
Mar 22, 2017
[Some mild spoilers about the ending.] I understand why this game is not that popular among some of the fans, specially if you played it before all the DLC came out. Personally, I only experienced the Mass Effect games recently so maybe I had a better first impression on the trilogy, specially ME3, because the DLC really added a lot to that game. I think people who were expecting a different ending allowed their whole experience be ruined when they didn't get what they wanted. I did feel really depressed when I finished ME3, but not because I thought the ending was bad. I actually liked that there is basically no perfect ending. Every choice has pros and cons and it's up to you to choose which one you think fits your Shepard best. I think this was why this game got so much hate, people got so resentful that even though the game as a whole is just as good as all the other ME games, they still rate it as a 0 just because the ending wasn't all sunshine and butterflies. Talk about being bitter. I've grown attached to my female Shepard and she is probably my favorite protagonist of all time now. Did I want her to happily ride off into the sunset with all squad members? Of course. But considering the scale of the story and the reapers as a villain, I think it would be unlikely and illogical to have that perfect ending. I think I wouldn't get as emotional as I did when those credits rolled. Overall, really good game and a perfect close to the trilogy and to Commander Shepard's story. ME3 only made my love for these characters grow even more, specially those who were with Shepard since game 1. It's really amazing to see how far they have come and how strong their relationship has become over the course of the trilogy. I'm going to miss them. I can always go back and replay it all, but it will never be the same thing as experiencing it for the very first time. I envy the people who will get to have that chance.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier2
Mar 5, 2017
I was already disappointed when Telltale announced that Season 3 was going to have a new main character. They kept that a secret for as long as possible and while they said Clementine was going to be back, when asked if she was going to be playable too they were always very vague up until the game was released. Smart from their part, because Clem is only playable for less than 10 minutes in 2 episodes and obviously, fans weren't happy. And she's only playable in flashbacks too, and speaking of which, are the most obnoxious thing Telltale has ever done to date. Dealing with Season 2's endings in a 5 minute flashback by killing off the remaining characters in the most terrible way possible, making the endings completely useless and basically **** on everyone's choices. They didn't even put any effort in trying to make Kenny, Edith and Jane LOOK like their former selves in season 2. Their models look absolutely terrible and it's honestly insulting to the fans that they thought those flashbacks were good enough to put on the game. But anyway, Telltale decided that it was best to throw away 2 seasons of investment and character development by pushing Clementine aside in favor of a random dude with a family that we are suddenly supposed to care about. TWD honestly became all about Clementine to me. In season 1 we have to protect her and teach her how to survive, in season 2 we get to play as her and shape her to be the character we want. In the meantime we watch her grow, both physically and mentally and in season 3 we get to see her become a young woman. So many opportunities right there. I honestly thought that we were going to get to play as her until she grows to be an adult. Not a lot of games do that, where you get to follow a character and watch them grow and adapt to a new world. Why Telltale decided to get rid of that is beyond me. Bringing a new established character that has been surviving in the apocalypse for 4 years with his family just doesn't work for me. Javier's intentions are all about protecting his family, but why should I care for them? I didn't get to develop these bonds between the characters and it certainly doesn't help when they are as bland and generic as Gabe and Kate are. The typical "bad stepmother" that has a bad attitude and doesn't know how to raise kids and that was abused by the husband. The stereotypical moody teenage boy who whines about trivial things 4 years into the apocalypse. That's another thing that bugs me about this family. They are completely oblivious and innocent, which is just not believable. They run into a trailer full of supplies and a bed and they aren't smart enough to put two and two together and come to the conclusion that someone lives there? Am I supposed to believe this family never run into bad people in 4 years?? That and the stupid **** they do, like running in an open field in the middle ****. That's bad writing, it makes your characters look stupid and not relatable. So far the side characters are just there, doesn't seem like they have a story and mind of their own. You meet Eleanor and talk to her for 1 minute and suddenly she wants to help you escape when you were involved in a murder. I mean, are you serious?? Then Javier is the reason why Prescott falls and for some reason Tripp is your best bud now and follows you unconditionally. Again, what?? I guess that's the problem with introducing new characters at the beginning of every season and then proceed to kill them all off only to do the same thing again in the next season. You basically have no time to develop a believable relationship with these characters. And it doesn't help when the hubs (which were a great way to stop and breath for a while and get to talk to the characters and get to know them a bit) are utter **** in this game. Season 2 suffered from this too. Only good old season 1 did this right. It's beyond me why Telltale dropped that. It probably also doesn't help when the episodes are so freaking short that you barely have time to do anything... and on top of that you lie to the fans saying "oh my god you guys episode 1 was so big we had to split it in two!" and then each part turns out to be 1 hour long. Oh, ok, so having a 2 hour episode was such a bad thing? Specially when we waited 3 years for a freaking new season, you honestly couldn't give something back to your fans? And you'd think we would have 4 more episodes after this since this was supposed to be episode 1 split in two but nope, we'll be getting one less episode, so only 3 more. Lol Just terrible. Overall, the first two episodes felt rushed, too much action and too little character interaction and development. Half of the season is almost gone and the events from the two episodes happened in less than a day! This is season 2 all over again where the entire season happened in the span of like one week. As I see it, a New Frontier should be a standalone game and Season 3 should follow Clem again.

The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat5
Jul 16, 2016
For a $20 pack, I was expecting more. Since it's half the price of an EP, I was expecting half the content of an EP. It offers a new world, that even though it's smaller than the other ones we have, it's a nice addition for sims to go camping, which is the theme of the pack. But the activities that it comes with it are seriously lacking and the ones we have feel very tackled on and half-baked. Sims can go hiking but all they do is walk alone through the world. They can't do it with friends or family, they can't actually hike a mountain or something, they don't stop to look at the view or see the animals (granted, there is barely any wild life to be seen, and the ones we can see are just embarrassing: a squirrel that looks like it came from a 1999 game. If you don't know what I'm talking about, google "squirrel outdoor retreat"). The campfire is nice, every sims' game has it so it was nice to have it back. There are a few interactions like sing songs on a guitar but you can't actually do it with other sims. Like a group of friends and family having fun around the campfire, singing songs together. Your sim does it alone and no one around even cares. When I send my sims to go camping with their friends (sims that aren't in the same household) they disappear the next day and leave my sim alone at the camp. It's just impossible to go camping with non-controllable sims. All you do when you go camping is sit by the fire or play horseshoes. We didn't even get a picnic basket or a ball or other fun activities that you usually do when you go camping. Overall, I was disappointed.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt9

Amazing game that really sets the bar high for future RPGs. Really immersive world full of life and interesting NPCs to meet, amazing and huge city to explore, fleshed out and well thought sidequests, great personal story with ups and downs, lots of choices and consequences and engaging combat. Couldn't ask for more. Even though I prefer to play as a female in videogames, I had no problems playing as Geralt. Real fun and interesting character right there. Hope future companies are taking notes on this. *cough* Bioware *cough*

Dragon Age II8

I don't get all the bad reviews for this game. True, the recycled environments are a big negative but it didn't stop me from enjoying the story and the characters, which is always what I look for on a Dragon Age game. I really enjoyed playing as Hawke, I love that she had a personality, a background, family and the companions actually feel like her friends, unlike the Inquisitor in DAI. I also liked all the little sidequests with interesting NPCs and stories and the fact that they all had cutscenes which makes things feel more personal. And again, unlike DAI.

Dragon Age: Inquisition2
Jun 19, 2015
Let me tell you something. This game deserves all the bad reviews it gets. Some may not be that eloquent and others may not present good arguments but you only have to read a few other reviews to understand why so many fans are unhappy with DAI. I was so excited for this game but nothing prepared me for the massive disappointment that it ended up to be. I am a huge Dragon Age fan. I love DAO with a passion and I also enjoyed DA2 very much despite all its obvious flaws. The thing I love about those two games is that it had a very compelling storyline, interesting PC, intriguing and likable NPCs with an enjoyable combat. With DAI I feel like all of that went down the drain. The controls in this game are terrible on PC because it's an obvious console port. The UI, specially in inventory, is not PC friendly. Things like click to walk and click to loot are no longer there and auto-attack was also not present until recently when they decided to patch it in because of the fans outrage. The best part is that they said in a video that DAI was made specifically for PC. They also said the tactical camera in DAI is exactly like Origins. Laughable at best. This "great" tactical camera of theirs has no edge scrolling, bumps into every freaking object and it constantly gets stuck on cliffs, fences, etc. It's completely useless indoors because you can't see past the ceiling, so basically you can't see **** because it's so close to the ground. And even outdoors, trees and buildings can get in your way. The combat is just terrible and incredibly limited. Mages suffered a complete downgrade, all the variety of spells we had are gone. And remember those badasses, scary enemy mages that could wipe out your entire party in seconds? In DAI, mages are these weirdos with flying books who constantly spam fire and ice mines and that's it. Everything looks like a circus show, with flashy lights everywhere. Then there's the stupid AI. The "hold position" command is the most infuriating thing. You can send Solas to a top of a rock to stay away from melee fight and tell him to hold position but as soon as you change characters, he will run straight to the middle of the fight. You have to constantly babysit everyone otherwise they will chug down all health potions within the first 2 seconds of a fight and then get themselves killed another second later. And all of this happens because there is no tactics! A complete downgrade from the last two games. We also can't choose attributes for our characters, the game does it for you. There is also no class diversity, no more archers or dual wielding warriors, mages can't even pick up a sword. Then there's the slots limit, only 8 skills! You can't even access your spell trees during a fight, same with changing weapons. And don't forget the 3 potion slots and incredibly limited health potions. Oh but wait, there's more, no more healing spells! Because you know, they want us to feel "challenged" or something! So they expect us to just ignore the fact that healing magic randomly disappears from Thedas all of a sudden. Everything else, story, characters and the Inquisitor are just mediocre. The Inquisitor is this complete blank slate that has no personality, no background and no connection to the villain. They are just this random person who fell out of the sky and suddenly became the savior of the world. And because they are the leader of this big organization you can only have diplomatic dialogue choices, no more being a smartass or plain evil like the warden, or being sarcastic like Hawke. The main storyline is cliche, the villain is cliche, just the typical maniac that wants to destroy the world because "muahaha evil". There is no real struggle, everything is handed down to you, there are no consequences, no one dies or suffers, everything is rainbows and butterflies. The so called villain disappears in the beginning of the game and let's you destroy all of his plans and then shows up at the ending only for you to kill him with only 3 people at your side in a 5 minute ending. Completely rushed and anti-climatic. The worlds are empty, static. NPCs are like statues, they show no emotions and I believe part of that is because when you are exploring these huge worlds and interacting with NPCs, you don't get a single cutscene. Because of that I felt really disconnected from the worlds and NPCs. The worlds are also filled with filler quests (go fetch this, go kill that) and are overwhelmingly huge. They have nothing to do with main story and they are there only for exploration purposes, not story. Generic mobs constantly spawning 5 seconds after you killed them. Companions overall feel very weak, I felt like the game didn't give me enough opportunities for me to feel something for these characters. With the expecting of a couple of characters, I feel like most were forgettable, just like everything else in this game.
