I paid $20 for this game along with some DLC during a Steam sale. I can't really say anything great about this game since I've yet to find it immersive. I haven't even gotten past the first tower climb and wanting to hang it up and go back to playing Just Cause 2. I have formed some thoughts so far and I apologize if I echo others. - Graphics. I turned up the graphics with my GTX 970 and remain unimpressed. It's too easy to visually miss the spitters. Gee, I wonder where the spitter idea came from? At least in L4D2, you can see and hear them. - Story. Didn't I play this already in a game called Dead Island? No because you play as an SF operator. Wait, that was Just Cause. - Controls. Meh. Lots of players seem to like the Parkour, but I get hung up in it. I fall, lose health and then must loot for supplies to create a MedKit. I am I having fun yet? -Looting and Crafing. It would have been an OK concept like Far Cry 3 or even Dead Island but this game takes it overboard. Really, it adds nothing to the game play since you must refocus from your mission to looking for supplies that suddenly dry up. All just to remain in the game and not die. Right now I'm between games so I'll keep playing and maybe my opinion will change. Maybe I'll get used to the controls and getting hit by spitters that I can't see or hear coming. Happy gaming!

SE3 (PC) is an addictive extension to SE2 and I'm waiting patiently for the zombie DLC to hit Steam. With that said, the developers apparently feel that random error for shots past 80 meters constitutes realism worthy of the higher game levels. The enemy can snap-shoot you apart at said distance with an MP-40 (that's a 9mm CQC round) the second you show your mug firing a bolt-action that is several times the long range accuracy of the pistol round. BTW, "realism" also entails shooting the enemy at least twice since the first shot is seldom enough. They nearly always get back up; yeah right. The tweaked arcade-like feel kind of ruins the experience. Happy gaming!

I just bought Contagion from Steam for only $5 and for the money, it's well worth it. So far though, I've yet to get past single player Roanoke set to Normal. I'll probably end up resetting to Easy and I never play FPS games on Easy! The Good. Contagion is fun to play and very addictive. The player is forced to plan ahead and to keep a clear escape route directly behind them. Avoiding damage at all cost. For example, use a grenade or IED at the end of a long hallway after the Z's break through a door at the other end. Pretty cool. The Cons. A player takes way too much damage from a single zombie swing. A few swings and it's over. Not good. If you use melee weapons like an ax, there's a good chance you'll be disappointed. To be effective, the melee weapons require fine grained accuracy. Good luck using them without taking any significant damage. I got tagged repeatedly by a crawling Z because I kept missing him with a fire ax. Not good.

I can't complain too loudly since I got this game on sale from Steam. It provided me with a few hours of so-so FPS fun. I finally chucked the game in frustration since I had to replay the same level one too many times. That is, after finishing a level and exiting the game, this silly game takes me back to this same completed level the next time I open the game. The save progress is non-existent. Didn't the programmers test their work? Little wonder the RF franchise didn't survive.

Some aspects of this rather unrealistic game were so enjoyable, I bought the zombie sniper elite games as well. I'll probably wait and buy V3 as well. Now the grrrrr. I have to wonder if any of the developers actually consulted ballistics tables, much less ever fired a scoped rifle. Here's my beef. The weapons have ridiculously large bullet drops (hold over distance) from 70 meters and becomes little more than guesswork at 200 meters plus. I guess the concept of rifle zeroing escaped the developers. It amazes me why the hell they would also give ridiculously long wait times between you breath holds (pulse rate drops) while the enemy sniper can accurately snap shoot you at 2 second intervals. Haven't any of these people ever fired a rifle at all? I've never measured it but don't believe my pulse rate goes up 5 or 6 beats following a shot. I'd be amazed if this happened to a trained sniper. My final word: an enjoyable but sometimes frustrating game.
