The demo was very promising yet the final version hasn't addressed any of the issues many people have pointed out: a) exceptionally slow gameplay b) clunky game mechanics c) lacking animations It had a lot going for it but by release it was obvious that the developers just weren't experienced enough to make a proper balance between dymanics and fun.

Unfortunatelly, Cyberpunk 2077 has fallen victim to its own ambition. -The story feels very uninspired. -The graphics aren't that great even on Max. -The game has serious optimization issues and lots of bugs. This is NOT the next gen we've been waiting for. Nothing about this game screams 'next gen experience'. This game is outright a scam.

Graphics - Awesome Music - Outstanding Story and voice acting - Good. This is a really good game, yet that 'sonic type of mechanics' memory prevents me from completely enjoying the game. It's a fast acton game, no doubt, but when you see similar elements that do not function the same way they used to, first it confuses you and then it starts to annoy you. So, if have never played any of the classical Sonic games - you might like it even more. My verdict - 9/10 Almost a perfect game.

Average graphics Lower than mediocre music. And the simpliest enemies that need to take too much bullets to die! That is something I didn't like and couldn't get used to. Verdict: This is a mediocre touhou rip-off with no soul and effort put in it whatsoever. It is not bad, yet it is not good enough to be an example for people who want to explore the bullet hell genre. Free in this case does not mean it is good by default. Just play Touhou if you want a free classic bullet hell with decent OST and nice balance.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds

Pros: - Awesome 32-bit era graphics. - Good music. Cons: - Controls...Jesus, how would I descibe it. It's like most of beat'em ups, yet imagine that your up and down buttons on the D-pad are broken and you can only move back to the background and to your initial position. Switching between these 'lines' takes way too much dynamics from the game and slows it down quite a bit. What's more, it is very diificult to maneurve when there're a lot of enemies (sometimes on nightmare+ it maybe even be impossible to evade their attacks)Secondly, who the **** thought, that having UP as a jump button is a ******* great idea!? Jet let me punch that person in his ugly face. - Although music in this game is really good, I feel that it suits Castlevania type of games much more. - Leveling up, which isn't that necessary, so why even bother putting it in this game? To make you feel that you've accomplished something? - The ****'s just there. - Voice acting...please, somebody, kill me already, I can't hear it no more. Play the arcade mode to avoid this nuisance. Verdict: Mediocre. That graphics, **** saved the game for me.

At first glance, HunieCam looks like an inferior game to what its granddad HuniePop had already established. On the other hand, if you give it a chance and try not to compare to the aforementioned prequel - it's a great game in short bursts that definitely has that unique charm of the 'Hunie' series. P.S The soundtrack is still top-notch despite going for ambient vibes.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1

User Scorepericulummagnum
Jun 22, 2020
For those who want to start exploring the vast fields of the JRPG genre, I have a couple of things to say regarding this game in particular: - Neptunia 1 just reeks of bad game design - There are some basic rules each JRPG, no matter how complex it might be, has got to have: а) Difficulty select option (::Not present in Neptunia One::) If the game is plot driven, there might just be a chance some players would want to experience the narrative without too much trouble or senseless grinding in this case. The plans that are present in the game do not make the game easier or harder, yet the boss fights become a complete chore. b) Well designed enemies and dungeons (::Not present in Neptunia One::) This is where it gets ridiculous. There are so few original enemies in the game, that you will fight the same lazily done cliched 3d models of slimes, flowers, gross hairy slimes, and space invaders (yep, those exact pixelated sprites from the original game) over and over again! What's more, it feels like at some point the developers just gave up on coming up with original ideas for your regular fiends and made these: a green PIPE (!), tetris blocks (!!), and a regular 2d PICTURE from some visual novel (!!!) . I mean COME ON, how lazy or maybe even bored with his own creation can a dev possibly get? To a Neptunia Re;Birth 1 state. The same goes for the dungeons, which not only are increadibly small and simplistic, but are repeatedly used throughout the game not even once in 'new locations' ! And guess what, they reuse some of them in Nep-Nep 2! Wow, that's rich. c) A proper tutorial, that explains every aspect of the game systematically (::Not present in Neptunia One::) In Neptunia the tutorials are presented chaotically, with no sense of making a complete system that you can refer to each time you struggle remembering something like... enemy types, for expample, which are not so obvious due to b.1) bad functional art desing in that regard and b.2) weird and senseless names which are neither puns nor some clever/funny references which makes memorizing them a problem. However, you are supposed to know that some magic affects cetrain types of emenies, yet at chapter 3, being lv.21 (almost 15 hours in~) and have already struggled to beat Ganache, I haven't seen a single explanation about that! That Ganache do-u-ch-e was my breaking point. It was the apidemy of bad game desing. Insane amount of grinding, bad explanation of basic game mechanics (as if you have already played the game and not even once), very little story inbetween made me stop playing this game now for at least a week. I just can't. The same thing happened to me when I was trying to play Phantasy Star 2. It was a bad experience, but I could give it some slack, since it was released 20+ years ago. This wasn't. There is no excuse for this poorly made game to be out there. Hope, the devs managed to fix some of the issues in Nep-Nep 2. / / Aside from general design problems, this is a bad PS Vita port. Have you ever heard of softlocking before? If not, this game will sure teach you how to set an app on the highest priority possible for it not to softlock each time it's your enemies' turn. / / As a conclusion, it would be prudent to admit that THIS SHOULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE YOUR FIRST JRPG EXPERIENCE! This is one of the most mediocre examples in this gerne that even those adorable heroines could not save for me. Too sad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary: + Adorable and well-designed (visually) characters + The plot is somewhat interesting - No proper tutorial system (half-baked pictures instead which appear long after you find something out if it is obvious and are absent when you actually need an explanation for some basic mechanics) - Boring quests (they are always the same. literally the setting, the requirements do never change) - Bad dungeon desing - Lazy to the point of being absurd emeny desing - The dialogues are primitive - Bad fuctional desing (enemy classes and their names are at the top-left corner are barely noticable) - Poor difficulty setting implementation - TOO MUCH GRINDING (no matter what difficulty) - Stupid references to the gaming culture even when uncalled for (one of the songs begins with a checkpoint theme from Virtua Racing... is that supposed to be funny?) - Technical issues ( *softlocking* ) P.S Believe me, I sincerely tried to enjoy the game and give it a benifit of a doubt. And yes, there are LOTS of intrusive references to the gaming culture present in the game, however, the devilery on that part is so legendarily bad, only a few people would be able to truly appreciate them.

Well, to be honest, the mechanics are not very fluid and at times even feel cluncky. However, the visuals are very well pronounced and give a unique vibe to the whole audio-visual experience. Yes, it´s very difficult to enjoy this one as a game, yet as an experience, it certainly is good.

While being visually stunning, the gameplay might feel a bit clunky and unresposive. The music may feel off in some instances but shine with glamour in others. It's a very hard to rate game since most of its potential was wasted in the open world which does not make the game any better than any other classic beat'em up affair. It's almost in the green zone, but not quite. Play in 2P for the best experience possible.

It's a decent Contra Hard Corps meets Contra 3 mash up that for some reason does not quite work as well as the originals. The graphics are gorgeous but feel bland with very little colour variety. You might get tired of looking at the same pallets long before you finish the game. The OST isn't stellar, more of a servisable treat that fills the void. It might sound tense or intriguing depending on the gameplay situation but does not leave any impression after you complete the game. Finally, the gameplay. This is where the game does exceeds. It's simple and fun just like in the good old days. You shoot, jump, run and repeat it all over again till the game is over. Overall, the main problem of the game is that it lacks its own identity and whenever it tries something new it does not surprise you in a good way. There is still room for improvement and I believe that giving the game its own look and decent OST might make the gameplay quite a bit more pleasant.

The friends of Ringo Ishikawa

User Scorepericulummagnum
Jun 22, 2020
It's incredibly hard to describle this type of game. I don't want to resort to old-fashioned comparisions but in this case it's the best I can do. The friends of Ringo Ishikawa is a Shenmuenesque Open-World Beat'em up with Slice of Life Elements peppered up with some time managment. The visuals and music make it a very unique yet similar experience to Shenmue in its foundation: it's life. Mundane, weird, unpredictable. It's up to you how you spend your time: beating some punks up to get by or trying to study and earn your monthly scholarship to have some fun playing pool. It's a relaxing and thought-provoking story on life, time and our own way in it. There is only one minor criticism towards the whole experience: the ending. There is no ending to life whether we are alive or not. The way the developer presents your final point in the game may ruin your overall experience making everything you've done on your journey pointless. Just be warned, not everyone is going to like this attitude. It's abrubt and very unsatisfying. Hence, minus one point for sacrificing the logic of the narrative for the authors' final message which might completely contradict your playstyle and experience with the game. Must buy for sure.

Groove Coaster for Steam

By now Groove Coaster is a well-established and one of the more unique rhythm games out there. Enjoy the visuals when riding 'a roller coaster' from point A to point B and Tap-Tap to win. Amazing OST with big names in the industry like REDALiCE, T+Pazolite, C-Show, DJ Myosuke, Xi, Void, Samping Master MEGA, TATSH, Chroma, Massive New Krew, DJ Genki, sky_delta, M-Project, aran, Maozon, Riran, KO3. Something every BEMANI vsrg lover will definitely enjoy. However, the PC port of the game feels lackcluster to say the least. The UI looks ugly. It's not very pleasant to look at considering there are tons of game in the genre that do it way better: Sound Voltex, Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, Arcaea, Cytus II and many many more. It's just baffling to see this little detail and taste in presentation from the UI standpoint. The input lag. It's present and is very annoying since it's not consistent. Your result may vary a lot even when you play on easier difficulties. The harder the song, the more noticable it becomes. These two problems is what gets it a 7/10 in my eyes.

This installment was the sole inspiration for Konami's later released Sound Voltex series. While a great game with varied OST, its progression system is what makes you grind your teeth at times. To unlock content you have to earn exp. points. Perhaps, way too many exp. point to the point where you would essentially want to use cheats to unlock more content early and it's understandable. Other than that, it's a visual and sound treat for all rhythm game lovers.

This game is everything a true fan of the franchise might have even wanted: a very detailed 2-d sprite based art style, more complex and intricate fighing mechanics, lots of characters to choose from and while not fantastic, but a decent soundtrack. Casual players who thought they were good at the older titles might be serevely dissapointed to learn that the game is challenging. It IS challenging but that's what true fans loved about the older titles. And now there is more of it!

The Last of Us Part II
1
User Scorepericulummagnum
Jun 22, 2020
While the game is mechanically and visually is stunning, the main problem lies in the story department. Here's why I think it falls flat. ---SPOILERS AHEAD--- I think the main reason why this plot decision does not work very well with most players is that Abby killed Joel, a very likable and easily relatable character from the first installment, way too early into the game. We've seen some character development in the first part, got deeply attached to Joel and Ellie's chemestry and then the writer immediately devalues evetything that happened back then. We know it was done on purpose to show that there is so much more to the overall picture of this 'civil war' between 'the last of us' and that there are no winners. However, the way it was so forcefully presented so early into the game feels so wrong and unjustified that you don't want to accept this. And you probably won't since the character do not act like themselves. While Ellie has never been particularly bright she has never been this careless about decision making and Joel has never been this passive and reserved when talking to Ellie. How the hell are we supposed to believe they haven't talked about Joel's decision to save Ellie before we get to see it near the end of the game? When a writer or game developer introduces many new characters there are going to be problems. We've not seen the logical end of the first story, yet the author still tries to make us believe it did not matter trying to shove his view on the situation in general without proper understanding of what made the first one so likable. I think it was a huge mistakes to opt for something new without finishing the old in this case. Thank you for reading this. This is the way I felt after completing the story.
