A great turn based combat game in the SteamWorld universe. Its length is quite substantial if you choose a not too easy difficulty level, especially considering it's quite often on a sale. Its story might be not the most elaborate, but the addition of a multitude of different hats the protagonists can wear is a welcome bonus. I surely anticipate this game's sequel, which will be released in a few months.

An interesting run'n'gun in which you can slow down time Matrix style. Unfortunately the action to do so is clicking down the left analog stick, so it happened quite often hit it without wanting to slow down time. The game's nice though. Just a little short, especially if you're not after high scores.

A nice little fishing game with a horror theme. It's its atmosphere which makes this one and the fun to discover all the different types of sea dwellers and their abominations. The game's just on the easy side, maybe even too easy.

A nice little Metroidvania. Haiku, the protagonist, and friendly NPC are lovable. Although the game's pixel art reminds me more of the first Metroid games, also the fact the protagonist can roll into a ball, from a general gameplay point of view this game reminds me more of Hollow Knight. Movement's fluid, control's precise, but compared to the other games I mentioned it's easier. Still challenging enough to have a good time though. An overlooked gem if you're into Metroidvanias.

At first glance this game seems rather basic, but a few minutes in you'll see it's deeper, foremost in its gameplay. It's a great run'n'gun with challenging boss fights, nice pixel art and an excellent soundtrack, especially the voice acting which is reminiscent of action flicks from the 80s and 90s. Another trump of this game is the artificial intelligence of the enemies who can often adapt to the player's play style, making the game more challenging than other titles of the same genre. In short, this game's a little gem worth a detour.

Went into this game not knowing anything about its source material. I still had a good time. Combat is engaging, visuals are well done and the music is splendid, with its hammering bass lines. There's just one gripe: Pushback after conceded damage, which sometimes makes the protagonist pass to another screen, often into the "arms" of a respawn enemy. Nonetheless this game's a little gem.

Still a janky affair, this game's smoother than its predecessor. Less bugs, better gameplay and combat, more voice acting, better AI of the CPU controlled character and funnier mini games, this one's definitely an improvement. Finally it has something important in common with the first game, it's a must play for fans of the Italian duo, even if there are better executed beat'em ups on the market.

Impeccable presentation, but to me this game is way too easy to be really enjoyable, There might be some more difficult sections later in the game, but they come from imprecise controls due to the elaborate animations, which are at least nice to watch. This game might be great for very young children. Me on the other hand got bored rather quickly, getting to the end felt like a chore. If there wasn't its nice presentation I would have given it a lower score.

This game's a little bit better than its predecessor. On the hand because it's slightly longer, on the other hand because you can tinker more with the character's improvements. Then you don't level up through the money you make, but by killing enemies. One thing is sure, it's still addictive to dig deeper into the mine to collect metals and gems. This game might not be the best on the Switch, but it's still a nice experience which is quite often on a discount at the eShop.

Basically a great game. Its setting, its gameplay, its graphics and its sound effects are all top notch for such a game and it gives great satisfaction to dig deeper into the mine to gather different metals and gems. But it's definitely too short.

Still a very good game, but how can the critics' score be higher than the one for the predecessor game. OK, you can move more freely in battle now, but the game has been watered down in difficulty. Battles don't even get rated anymore, so it doesn't matter how many turns you need to win a battle or if your whole team survives. And who the hell taught the Rabbids intelligible speech? Their charisma takes a hard hit with this.

In general a nice game with an interesting story. The main thing I miss though is that you can't switch the movement controls of the protagonist to the directional pad, which makes controls floaty and rather imprecise for a 2D game.

This game could've been an instant classic, because the idea to play as a lamb leading a cult and leaving for crusades to gather resources, recruit new members and slay enemies is ingenious. Unfortunately up to this day it's plastered with bugs and even worse with performance issues. All these little freezes made me rage, especially at the final boss of the main story. Instead of being a stellar game, it's only good.

A nice and colourful RPG which shines with its character abilities' customisation and real time combat often against hordes of monsters. But I think both Guacamelee! games (which are by the same studio) to be better and more polished, especially when it comes to music and humour. Still, Nobody Saves the World was fun.

At first I wanted to curse this game because I got stuck in an area. Although in the end it has been a pleasant ride after someone pointed me to a solution the game told me even itself, I just forgot it in the heat of the action. It looks and sounds good for a game that's basically an NES game, it's just the controls which need a while to get used to. The jumps of the vehicle are floaty and the protagonist has stiff movement. Still in general it's a rather easy game, except the battle against the final boss where I needed multiple attempts to figure out how to beat him. On the story front don't go in expecting a convoluted plot. Finally one thing is sure, I'll try at least the game's follow-up.

Not in the same league as Tropical Freeze or Rayman Legends, this game still knows how to please. Beautiful graphics, nice music and solid handling. At the start you might think this game's going to be a walk in the park, but latter levels crank up the difficulty level, especially the hidden world and its Cataclysm mode which both don't have to be beaten to see the end credits. One thing I like about this 2D platformer is that it doesn't exaggerate on collectibles, basically it's just fruit and feathers you can collect, the latter being replaced by eggs in the hidden world. Finally the only real negative point is its rather short duration, nonetheless it has been great fun going through. OK, there might be another one: I missed Franquin's original design of Marsupilami.

A run'n'gun where you play as a goose and where everything blows up. A premise which should please, giggles included when you know what a goose means as well in Luxembourgish. Unfortunately this game becomes bland rather quickly, even with its short duration. After the end credits rolled I didn't want to go to the parallel universe anymore which is the same game with a harder difficulty. Mighty Goose is nonetheless a decent pick up if its discounted and it's nice it's got a longer free DLC level unlocked after the end credits.

This game plays almost like the original but it has added bonuses, foremost the updated graphics in a classic cartoon hand drawn style and a marvellous soundtrack recorded with acoustic instruments. The other bonuses are a few new hidden areas, a neat art gallery, a few tweaks to the menus as the weapons and inventory management. A really great feature is the possibility to change anytime between the remade graphics and soundtrack, also separately. There's even the option to run the Japanese FM soundtrack of the original game. As essential as the original is to the Master System, the remake makes nearly everything better. You just have to cope with the dated physics the remake took over entirely from the original.

More of the same concept as its predecessor? Not quite. First in the sequel you don't travel in some sort of locomotion on the ground but in an aquatic vehicle, then its considerably longer and it offers a greater variety of mechanics to progress. I don't want to go further into details not to spoil those who enjoyed the first game but haven't played the second yet. In the end this game is again a journey through a post-apocalyptic world which is worth to be done mainly due its calm atmosphere which is supported by its hand drawn graphics and minimalistic soundtrack played with real instruments. This game was even more pleasant than the original FAR, the latter which has been a beautiful experience nonetheless.

This game doesn't need to explain much before you get started on board of a steam powered vehicle. The goal of it simply is to move on. It's the game of escape in a post-apocalyptic world all presented in an atmospheric art style sometimes dark though. And for once you don't have to kill anybody, a rarity in the games I usually play and a welcome change. I just suggest to get it when it's on a discount because it's on the short side.

No GOAT material but an exceptionally well executed homage to the Turrican series from the 90s. Most details are inspired from those games, like the mechanics, looks and sounds. The composer of the soundtrack just should've oriented himself even more to the SID (C64) and Paula (Amiga) sound chips to amplify the nostalgia factor. Still, his soundtrack's nice and very electronic too. One of the improvements over the originals is that in this one here you can reboot the game from the last level you've seen. Overall a pleasant game and basically a must play for fans of Turrican.

Great endless racers to waste hours, trying to beat your own high scores and maybe even reach a good spot on the leaderboards. My favourite thing is that it contains many cars that drove around on the streets here in the 80s, the time when I was a child, like the VW Golf model 1 which is the default car. Pity it doesn't have the licences to give the car models their proper names, but calling for example the default car "Das Holzwagen" ("the wood car" in German, although with a grammatical error) is also nice. Sprinkled in are a few references to pop culture. Car nostalgics might find some value in this game, I enjoy it myself.

At first glance a classic Metroidvania with nice pixel art and a well composed soundtrack. If there wasn't its innovative move-set for such a game, because you can't simply run like in other games of the genre, you have to hop from one salt covered platform to another, resulting in your character standing upside down sometimes. Unfortunately its move-set is also its biggest flaw, because it's a good chunk less precise than in traditional 2D platformers. I managed to go through the game without activating cheats, except for the last boss, there the imprecise controls were the most blatant. Coming closer to the end of the battle, you need to move quickly, unfortunately the game registers badly the inputs from the controller. If controls were more precise, I'd have given the game a 9/10.

A very good game in isometric 3D. Very good because on the one hand the gameplay isn't overcharged: Movement, hand-to-hand weapon, ranged weapon and dodge are all what's needed. On the other hand its art style, quite sombre but with its colourful moments. It took me slightly over 20 hours to see the credits, for such a game that's not bad.

Very short and play-wise mediocre, even in its Challenge mode where you only have a limited number of golf strokes permitted, this game shines with its story and post-apocalyptic atmosphere, both perfectly accompanied by the sounds of "Radio Nostalgia from Mars".

An excellent 2D platformer where you play as a dog with a grappling hook, obviously. The platforming sections and the boss battles are varied, the music on the other hand could've used more variety. To me Grapple Dog is one of 2022's indie gems.

The best game I played in 2022. I'd give it a 10 and it would easily enter my all-time top 5 if there weren't a few technical problems and the janky controls. I like its mix of RPG, visual novel and point 'n' click. But foremost its wacky story treating political as emotional philosophy, substance abuse, police work and other things. The graphics are also nice, especially the characters' portrait pictures in an impressionist style. Finally on the sound front the voice acting is exceptional with all the accents you encounter.

Not bad this little game. I just deplore some platforming sections are harder than boss battles.

If you like American patriotism so over the top it becomes silly, this game is for you.

I prefer this a bit more than its predecessor LIMBO. On one hand because the riddles are more complex but they were easier for me to solve. On the other because there's interaction with humans and dogs, even if they're usually hostile. Although as in LIMBO, while it sticks well to the obscure and oppressing atmosphere, I regret a more elaborate soundtrack. As for its length of roughly 4 hours, the original €20 are a little steep, especially because it's unlikely a game I'll replay. Luckily I got it discounted for €2. At that price it's a little gem.

Nice little 2D puzzle platformer with a depressing atmosphere rarely seen in a video game. Just right for the month of October. I just would have liked a little more elaborate soundtrack, the actual one is a tad too minimalistic.

A nice little game which puts somebody like me, who never celebrated Halloween, into a Halloween mood. Its strengths are the varied level design and the boss fights, with the final one being the climax, as it should be in such a game. All embellished by a colourful design, quality narrational interludes and nice music, while being spiced up with a good amount of humour. For a 3D platformer, especially one developed by basically just one person, the camera positioning is rather well executed, except perhaps during the boat rides. And the game slowed down a little in a few rare moments. I had my fun with Pumpkin Jack. Due to its short length it definitely didn't overstay its welcome.

This game doesn't offer enough challenge: It always shows clearly where to go next. The combats are way too easy. If anyhow death occurs, the consequent punishment is unnoticeable. The improvements one can buy for collectibles are completely useless because of the game's staggering low difficulty level. Boredom installs itself rather quickly in this game despite its beautiful graphics, music from the films, quality voice acting and the funny jokes which don't exist in the movies. Finally I recommend this game to little children to make them learn the usage of a controller and to Star Wars fans who might chuckle at a few of the jokes.

Two nice games in one package. First Super Mario 3D World which is reminiscent of the classic NES Mario games, a thing I like. Another plus is its variety of different level builds. Unfortunately suffers of controls a little imprecise, something unusual for a Mario game. 2D as 3D, 3D World is in between those two, even if it contains 3D in its name. Then Bowser's Fury where we find the usual controls of a 3D Mario. Great cinema this shorter game, with its beautiful graphics, epic music and some of its platforming demanding some skill. This package is surely a welcomed addition to my Switch collection, even if I still prefer Odyssey.

A cute game with likeable characters. But it suffers of a few badly implemented mechanics I thought wouldn't exist anymore nowadays. Three examples: - The approximative controls when interacting with the environment, especially when using the bee's weapon. - The problem you can't buy items in bulk. You have to restart the buying process for every single unit of an item. - The missing of a combat restart option. When you're in a combat and you see in advance you'll lose it, you whether have to restart the whole game to get back to the last save spot or wait until every member of the team died. Although it's got those technical anachronisms it's still a nice game to play.

There are two games in this collection. Two twin-stick shooters, rather gory and in a late 80s to early 90s style, style expressed in their 8 to 16 graphics and the musical score inspired by that era, although in an up-to-date quality for a video game. The first game's great. I had fun killing as many enemies as possible in a certain lapse of time to raise the combo metre, even if it took me some time to get used to the controls of a twin-stick shooter, namely moving the character with the left stick and aiming with the right one. At the end the explanation why my character killed all those people was right up my alley. I'd give the original Hotline Miami a 9 out of 10 on its own. In the second game I unfortunately hit a difficulty wall, I can't pass the second part of the 12th scene. There are constantly enemies shooting out of view and I much more often suffer a lack of ammo. It's the second game that pushes down a little my overall score for the collection.

A beauty this game, with its visual design drawn with water colours and carried by atmospheric music. It's rather short with about 3 hours to reach the end. A good thing, otherwise it might have become boring, I'm not one of those who can contemplate one and and the same painting for hours. GRIS definitely didn't overstay its welcome. Rather unique for a platformer too, you can't die nor have to combat in it. This game is worth to be lived at least once in a lifetime.

Great game for fans of the Nerd, with all the references to his most popular videos. Sometimes I wanted to throw my controller or (depending how I played) the Switch against a wall because I encountered some difficult spots even on normal difficulty. Which means the game delivered as intended and is full in the spirit of the Nerd's videos.

What a beauty this game! And cute too, but we expected that with Kirby. This game offers varied, colourful levels, funny transformations of the protagonist and a soundtrack that fits. I only see two flaws in it: 1) The impossibility to simply restart a level without going back to the world map and without getting two loading times. Especially cumbersome if you want to beat a boss without taking damage to save a Waddle Dee. 2) The ease to beat the last boss of the additional world. I had more difficulties to beat Clawroline and the last boss of the regular world. But in the end this game's a great addition to the Switch's library, a game which can please young as old.

The first Pikmin game I've played and already now those little critters and the crews who came from distant planets have a special place in my heart. Every time one of the Pikmin died, due to my incompetence, gave me a light pinch in my heart. On that matter I fully sympathise with Captain Charlie. Apart its cuteness, the biggest quality of this game is its handling. Its controls are learned very quickly. Its biggest flaw though is the shortness of its story modes, the reason why I don't give it a higher score. Pikmin could be a monument from Nintendo if only the story modes were considerably longer.

On the quest of nostalgia I told myself: "Cool, an "Olive et Tom" game, got to buy this!" Yesterday I started it and played it for about two hours. Bottom line: This game is a disappointment. Too many loading sequences, the game tries too often to connect to the Bamco network, too much information at once in the tutorials and most of all: The handling is anything else than ergonomic. Conclusion: I won't put this game into the console again, at least not in the near future.

Excellent game. Ergonomic, great detailed and colourful graphics, excellent music (even if I'm not a heavy metal fan), its setting in the underworld of Greek mythology and its humour (especially the protagonist's dry remarks) set up a mix that could only please me. Hades has become one of the games I recommend without a second thought.

As it seems, a majority of gamers like this game. My opinion of it is more mitigated. Sure, its characters are likeable, the combat mechanics innovative, and the fact one can spare adversaries, while even being able to befriend a few of them, changes from the RPGs I'm used to. During my first playthrough I've opted for the more aggressive route, although I wasn't able to beat the final boss. As for now I'm not in the mood to go on with my pacifist playthrough. There are gamers who celebrate its potential of replayability, me on the other hand have seen enough the first round, until now the main traits are the same between my aggressive and my more clement game. To conclude Undertale offers a different, even innovative gaze on RPGs, but to me it's not the work of art its fans see in it.

This game has become my favourite 2D jump'n'run, kicking Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze from the throne. It might not max out the capacities of the Switch, but it has so much to offer: The main game, the Rayman Origins levels, the daily and weekly challenges, Murfy's levels which are played in handheld using the touchscreen and the Joycon's gyroscopes, the invaded levels which are the most challenging part of the game and finally the cherry on top: The music levels. (I even haven't tried the game in multiplayer yet, after what I read that's pretty fun). That's why I forgive it its almost non-existent plot and its hub I needed a few minutes to orient myself in. A real delight this game! I'm at more than 55 hours played and still haven't rescued every Teensie.

I'd give this game a higher score, if its wall jump mechanic would be easier to perform and if combat would be more interesting. Due to the former I'm stuck at a precise point on the last floor, making it impossible to me to progress and to see the end of this game. The latter might be a critique towards blind grinding in certain games, which would be totally in the vein of the whole game, so I can overlook that. In the end I'm mitigated on SuperEpic.

First of all the game's negative aspects: - Combat is wobbly. - The in-game progress is too linear for the genre, even if there is a lot of tiring back and forth especially in the last city. - Most recipes John can cook don't make sense. Who uses only milk for an omelette? But in the end the positive sides overlap all of the negatives: - The setting is marvellous, I wonder if this is the way Chinese developers imagine the west. - The pixel art is top notch with a lot of warm colours. - The soundtrack fits the setting. - The characters are likeable, especially the two protagonists: Fidgety Sam and taciturn John with his frying pan which serves as cooking tool and as weapon. - The game's decelerated pace. I wouldn't say this game's a must own for Switch, but it's definitely worth a try foremost for those who like to read in a game.

A great little gem this Messenger. It offers tight platforming and challenging boss battles, seasoned with the silly or even philosophical stories of the shopkeeper, an NPC who accompanies the messenger on his expedition. Ingenious how the double jump is implemented, you need to hit an enemy or a lantern before executing it, which makes the game more demanding. Another strength of this title in the later half is the constant visual and aural change between an 8bit and a 16bit style, all served in marvellous pixel art and an engrossing soundtrack. It's only later I noticed this game also has an option to be played in Quebec French, a thing I never encountered before, even not in hockey games. Finally I wonder how will be the RPG the same developers are working on.

I liked to go through Katana ZERO with its nervous gameplay, great pixel art, colourful cyber punk aesthetics and story about war and drugs. Waiting for its sequel now.

What fun honking and terrorising a perfectly common British village community minding its daily business! Another positive is the game's art style of simple pastel-coloured graphics without outlines, the minimalistic piano tunes accompanying the goose on its "rampage" and the missions written in cursive letters in a pupil's copybook. Although the goose itself is well animated and moves like a real animal of its species. If there's anything to complain about this game, it's its short duration and a bug I encountered relatively early on. Otherwise it's been a pleasant discovery.

This game doesn't get me hooked. I went to the world with that reptile guy who has an Australian accent and lost the will to continue further in. Controls can be approximate, it's hard to perform precise jumps, collecting crates and fruit is tedious while the musical score is generic. But I have to admit Crash is a funny guy and the game looks pretty well for a Switch title. Even it not being totally in 3D, there are platformers in full 3D that handle better and have a better presentation, I'm primarily thinking about the 3D Mario games. Sure it offers challenging sections, but in the end Crash Bandicoot 4 lacks pep, especially aurally. And maybe I'm not getting its humour.
