Persona 4 Golden10
Apr 24, 2025
Persona 4 Golden (Steam version) is perhaps one of the best games I've ever played in over a decade of gaming. Despite originally releasing on the PS Vita in 2012, P4G holds up even today as not just a JRPG or a story-based game, but as one of the best RPGs of all time. The characters are written beautifully, all seeming like real people. The dynamic of the Investigation Team is natural, the group feeling like an actual group of friends you could see yourself in. The character design is on point, from random passer-bys, to the Personas themselves. The mystery is implemented well, and the reveal of the culprit is done well. While the dungeons are somewhat repetitive and confusing, (especially some of the later ones that require backtracking to find keys) it is made up for with an incredible soundtrack. Going through the Social Links and watching how the characters develop is a charm, and it was tough to move on from finishing the game. The inbuilt anime cutscenes are done well visually, and works well in the whole atmosphere. Occasionally solving quests can be a bit confusing, as there are rarely ones that provide absolutely no clues, but are just a blip on an otherwise perfect game. I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed playing through this, with a remarkably cheap price for ~60-80 hours of gameplay for the true ending.

Hearts of Iron IV9

With a steep learning curve, Hearts of Iron IV is a great grand strategy games, with the user able to project a multitude of alternate scenarios, ranging from an interventionist UK to a monarchist uprising in Japan. The game also has an incredible modding community, with great overhaul mods like Equestria at War, Kaiserreich, Kaiserredux and Old World Blues, which allow you to play on a completely new field.
