I loved this movie a lot and I'm here to say Norma was never the villain. for the time this film was created the depiction of mental health/deterioration was so good and this was such a good intro to the film noir/femme fatale type. Norma was such a fun character to dissect and get inside the brain of and she truly is a product of her environment

Gosh where do I begin on this one. I started my letterboxd review saying I didn't wanna get all sjw but this film **** horrible if you look past that? It doesn't take much digging at all to figure out this film is just blatant racism, gore, and poorly timed potty jokes that are more cringe inducing than they are funny. At no point in this movie was I "scared" more than i was just majorly uncomfortable with the energy being created in the studio today. While I do think it's possible to make a film like this that includes a cannibalistic native tribe, this one is genuinely horrible and doesn't do anything for the culture or livelihood for these very real uncontacted tribes. I gave it a 4 just because I see the vision and I kinda get what they were going for but it's just not very good at all and i felt bad after watching and donated like $30 to a research charity

This is one of those movies that you watch once, don't really know what you watched, then have to rewatch it over and over again and you get new details every time. There's a reason this is Lalouxs most popular film, the message is strong, and the illustration and animation are genuinely stunning with little to no effort. Goraguer always knew exactly what these films needed and delivered the most fitting soundtracks possible, and I really think Laloux did an amazing job picking him as his main composer as I truly in my heart believe they worked so well together that anyone else just wouldn't be the same. I've watched this movie a total of 10 times and it's safe to say its one of my favorites.
