hoo boy these sony fanboys are real salty in an industry that became soulless and creatively bankrupt Psychonauts 2 stands out as a beacon of light there is so much to unpack but il keep this short and simple, one of the earlier levels of the game is a Casino/Hospital hybrid that takes place in a rubik's cube this is just one of many incredible levels this type of creativity is pretty much nonexistent in most Triple A games. Also the writing is top tier which is what you can expect from a tim schafer game from likeable characters, cleaver dialogue, well animated cutscenes and humor, but the biggest surprise for me was how the game tackles mental health and empathy which is kind off incredible to see in a game like this especially in a genre that isnt known for story telling. People have been waiting for Psychonauts 2 for 16 years and its almost impossible for it to live up to the expectations but the end product not only exceeds these expectations but even defies it in the best way possible.

Imo Soul reaver is the best Ps1 and even the best Dreamcast game ever you really need to look at it from the perspective of the time it was released ,3D gaming was at its infancy ,it has a phenomenal writing with top tier dialogues ,worldbuilding ,raziel and kain being some of the best written characters in gaming history and phenomenal story that is complimented with some of the best voice acting the industry has to offer ,the game has a very well designed world that you need to explore and Similar to metroidvania you need to memorize some of the areas and do some backtracking to unlock certain areas that you can go to after you unlock a new ability , some great and well designed puzzles ,the combat may not put DMC out of business but again like I said earlier 3D was at its infancy but the combat is still great ,you can interact with the areas by either grabbing a weapon or throwing enemies at fire or spikey walls and water ,soul reaver also has dimension travel which at the time was simply mind blowing ,it was used to get past certain locations or find secret areas and the atmosphere is simply jaw dropping some of the best in any game. Soul reaver is simply a generation defining masterpiece a beautiful diamond that will only look better the more you look at it.

Cyberpunk is by no means a bad game ,the game had its few great moments but its clear as crystal that the game is simply an unfinished mess and im completely ignoring the buggs here ,Cyberpunk tries to be many things but fails at pretty much all of them ,the world is stunningly beautiful but at the same time its lifeless that its even haunting ,gangs ,NCPD and Trauma team add nothing to the game ,some of the character related side quests are GOAT tier but most of it are some Ubisoft tier fetch and kill quests that are no where near as good as the contracts from The Witcher 3 ,NPCs and police system are not just bad they are completely broken even after the patches ,the story had its great moments and the characters were phenomenal but the pacing is extremely fast it feels like its summarizing a story rather than experiencing and entire story ,it takes only 18-20 hours to beat it which is a far cry compared to the witcher 3 which had 50 hour main quest ,the gameplay is kinda meh ,its not bad but its not great and the RPG mechanics and choices are basically none existent and are just there ,its also quite jarring how much potential content is there but you cant interact with ,not even a single mini game. the problem with Cyberpunk is that it tries to be many things but fails at pretty much all of them. You want an open world with deep RPG mechanics where your choices mean something? Play Fallout NV You want to play an open world game with an amazing story and a lively open world? Play RDR 2 You want to play a Cyberpunk game? Play the Deus ex series You want a great open world game with amazing side quests? Play The Witcher 3 You want to play a smaller open world game that is filled with amazing mini games? Play Yakuza 0 You want to play an open world game with a much better police system? Play GTA You want to play an open world RPG with meaningful choices ,character customization freedom that rewards you for it and a great faction system? Play Fallout New vegas again im not saying Cyberpunk is bad its just that there are much better games out there.

The Good: Fantasia has some strengths and its clear that its made with love and passion but sadly it has many problems that drags it down from greatness to mediocrity. -Turn based Battle system is very fun especially when you fight multiple opponents when you use Dimengeon. -its insane what they managed to achieve with the environments by using diorama it really shows that even with a limited budget and a limited hardware you can still make fantastic environments ,which is something that has been lacking in many Jrpgs released in the past decade. -its very approachable ,even if you have not played any Jrpg in the past its very easy to get into. -Cities are beautiful and are unique. -it works damn flawlessly without any buggs or frame drops even on my awful iphone. The Bad: and this is the part where it pains me to write mainly because the game has so much potential that are dragged down because of outdated design decisions and annoying flaws. -Random encounters is simply outdated and the fact that some Jrpgs still insist on adding it is simply beyond me ,even Dragon quest got rid of the damn thing for some reason they just HAD to include it ,Dimengeon thankfully does make it less annoying but still there are sometimes where you forced to fight when its a new enemy type for the first time. -The insane amount of concentrated boss fights in the second half was simply ridiculous and exhausting in a very bad way ,there are some cool boss fights but most of them are BS and tedious to fight. -Side quests are nothing but **** fetch quests with 0 effort put into them. -Ez gameplay gimmick is dreadful instead of using MP he uses items and once you are out of the items that he needs to do the skills he is pretty much useless and can only do normal attacks which wont do much. -The Writing is beyond bad and this is my main gripe with the game ,the fact that some people think its remotely good just shows how low bar the writing is for Jrpgs ,jumping from Disco Elysium to this is like jumping from Mount Everest to the depth of Mariana Trench ,where do i begin? you want to make a game that takes place in a generic setting ,with generic plot and characters? thats more than fine but ATLEAST execute properly ,its very hard to believe with all the experience the development team have they failed miserably at the writing department ,it felt like they are writing a story for a game that is supposed to release in the early 90s they failed to realize that gaming as a medium has moved far beyond the generic writing that this game has and the dialogues is probably one of the worst i have ever seen ,from the interactions between the main cast to the NPCs it really pains me to see a well designed city that is plagued with **** content and awful NPC dialogues and a lackluster worldbuilding ,its just plain bad and its such a shame because this is the part that is supposed to focus on the story. -a very forgettable cast of characters that has little to no chemistry.

Putting aside the fact that this game is free and i will only recommend it if you really have nothing better to do ,sure it is fun at times i would even say it does really give an amazing first impression, but ultimately its just below average game for me and here is why -Uninspired this is one of the biggest gripe i had with the game ,this might very well be the most uninspired game of this generation ,which says alot since this generation is so filled with uninspired games even worse than dark souls clone ,this however takes it to ridiculous heights even the damn map looks almost exactly the same as Botw ,it tries to steal so many gameplay mechanics from breath of the wild and sure this really does sound great on paper it ultimately fails miserably i will explain later on in this review ,it even steals some animations from nier automata and it has an uninspired anime artstyle to pander to weebs because they are the ultimate simps who will spend their money on an anime waifu. -Gameplay mechanics are shallow and just dont work well together ,like the characters can do all sorts of flashy moves but god forbid if they sprint or climb their stamina will deplete ,this is kind of like the opposite of what nintendo does ,nintendo adds few gameplay mechanics and build an entire game around it ,GI however just shoehornes mechanics from very popular games and add gacha on top of it and just expects it to work ,elemental combos started out great but later on it just became awful ,same with RPG mechanics do you know why? because these mechanics have not been worked upon lack depth and are just added for the sake of more content. -It just baffles me that reviewers and many people praise the story, im not expecting planescape torment or Disco Elysium but has the bar really been this low? the story is the most generic anime garbage i have seen in a while and unless you enjoy that stuff im not judging ofc ,the praise for this games story is as empty as this game. -Awful dungeon and boss design this is part of my complaint on how the game shoehornes uninspired gameplay mechanics and expects it to work ,the dungeons suffer from the same thing. -Enemies lack variety and are poorly designed -side content/quest are mediocre at best ,poorly designed and will get repetitive later on **** Endgame and resin system if you read most reviews here you will get what im saying so i dont think i will need to echo what everyone has already said countless of times. Overall i only recommend this game if you want something for free and have literally NO game in the backlog you might even enjoy the first part of the game but ultimately it will fall apart later on ,i hope next time we see something that is original and has depth unlike this mess ****
