Oh boy did I not expect after owning PJM1 on several systems and then already co-opping this one (PJM2) on steam/PC that this would be still so mich fun on the go. Yes, even botw gets a rest until I work myself through all the levels with perfect rainbows. I am now well in my 30’s and still LOVE PJM. The only thing I could say is: can we also have PJM ultimate on Switch?

It's all true. This is the first adventure game since Monkey Island 2 that I played that really, in a modern way captures that feel, the humor, the escape to a new and bizarre world. The issue with other point n click indies often was their immersiveness, and trying too hard to be MI. Paradigm has its own meta-jokes and moved with the times, by accepting the modern world but setting it in a retro future sketchy 80's setting and with its adorable characters, it achieves wat others tried and didn't do: create a new original and hilarious experience. ONE LOVE. PS it also isn't short which is awesome and keeps doing meta stuff.

Do not believe the haters. For all of those who love tower defense and/or were in on the original PJM cult; this game is great. The 3D and recent fixes to 3D view really bring the co-op mode to life (although it would have been great to be able to "circle" 360 around the players but thats a detail. 3D brings the "physical" aspect of collecting gems, managing towers to new heights and the upgrading mechanism is just so much fun together in co-op. Get this game if you love PJM or just tower defense in general!

Haven't had as much fun with a game since sleeping dogs. Really awesome in pretty much every aspect, but the most important thing to mention here is atmosphere. Eating ramen, singing karaoke, and all those little things you can do in town make you feel like you're walking the streets of Tokyo. Also great the speech is in Japanese and not overdubbed. A++ SEGA, keep making there and keep porting to PC!!!

Callahan's Crosstime Saloon10
Aug 13, 2017
A cult classic that at launch slipped through the cracks due to unfortunate marketing (the publisher initially advertised it as a "western" due to the name saloon in the title-- they couldn't have been more off) and is so undiscovered even I only caught on (as a fervent adventure gamer and oldskool adventuge geek) twenty years after release. Hard to come by, this is one of the great works of interactive fiction where the jump off were Spider Robinson's "mundane" sci-fi novels. But ladies and gentlemen, this is not about sci-fi. The game is amazing because Josh Mandel, the same guy that brought us Freddy Pharkas (which incidentally was a Western) uses all the humour and tongue in cheeck smartass jokes that work so well in the interactive fiction genre. Way ahead of its time and so righ, warm and human, CCS is a should play for all interactive fiction and adventure lovers.

Yes, adventure games are still alive. Props and many heartfelt thanks to Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Winnick et. al. on a gorgeous, armospheric, funny and HUGE adventure game. Also a big shout out to te philosophical and moral challenges to the team, from properly managing kickstarter funds and providing value to backers to game design choices and the recent update featuring inter character dialogue and an integrated hint line. I agree with all choices, recognizing they were hard and I think that by making these choices, some essential next steps have been made to "upgrade" the genre. Full 10/10 -- for story, characters, writing, effort and production. PS-- thanks for including our books, it is so fun to discover the epic take of moksie among some of the first listings :)

Bully: Scholarship Edition9

Not sure why the fellow critics are so tough on this game. These days you can often find it on sale for a mere 3 or 5 dollars and it really is worth the few bucks, if you are not one of the mainstream ADD shoot and explosion type gamers. Fun, different and at times a bit nostalgic (you play a kid in highschool, after all)- check it out!

Blackwell Unbound10

Dear adventure game lovers, this is where things really started to get interesting! Instead of picking up with Rosa in present day New York, this "episode" in the Blackwell legacy provides meaning, depth and nostalgia for Rosa's backstory by jumping in a thirty or so odd years prior with Rosa's aunt. The music in this episode really starts picking up (and never leaves you anymore in the series) and the funny, warming and at times also sad moments give meaning to what is otherwise a convoluted and empty action packed games industry. Grab a copy on one of the sales along with the other entries in the series- it's definitely worth it!

The Blackwell Legacy9

Great start for the series- although it is clear that both the story, the inventory system and even if I love oldschool graphics, the character and backgrounds are in development and the developer is still finding his flow with the characters and story, this is where the seeds get sown! These days you can get the whole Blackwell series for like 15 bucks or less during summer sales or other large sales so go grab it if you love your oldschool adventure games. Rosa really belongs up there in the pantheon of adventure game protagonists together with Guybrush, Simon, Indy, etc.

Kentucky Route Zero - Act I10

Indie for a reason- this game would have never existed but for a brave, minute dev team and its kickstarter funds. In a world where the mundane and profane overlap, KY0 brings out the poetry and unique advantage video game mechanics have to tell a story. Indeed as fellow users have commented reminiscent of Another World, this game is much more, can't wait for the next episodes (bought season pass right away). An effort well worth supporting, as its definitely a unique blend of art, adventure and poetry.

Excellent game. The tension, the artistry, the speed, the strategy... A commendable and highly artistic rendation and critique of violence in popular media and an immense retro throwback make this game an instant cult hit. Granted, it's not for everyone but if you like vintage, tongue in cheeck humor and the 80's... go play it!

Bravo, Rockstar! They've managed to finally cut through the standard mission - shoot - drive type formula to make something engrossing, immersing and totally satisfying. Amazing acting, with especially the interrogation and investigation scenes jumping out, this game is one to be reckoned with - and to be seen as an examplary piece of storytelling, one that merits further elaboration! So game developers, get your **** together and start hiring the Team Bondi guys as they know where it's at if you want to make a real game. Thanks a million for bringing back storytelling and adventures to the gaming world in hi-def! Suggestions for improvement: make he interrogations more interactive, maybe with actual dialog / question choices (a la Monkey Island), make the investigations slightly more difficult- but this is the way things should be heading!

Found the game when browsing for something new on Gamespot... OH MY GOD! All the good storytelling of the old adventure games and a deep and immersing experience for 11 bucks... it's just amazing. Thank you free bird games and please port to iPad and release future games on iPad / touch / iphone as you will have a hit on your hands and this game would play perfectly on the platform! I would buy it again for iPad just to be able to play on the go / in bed!
