The Darkest Hour is a science-fiction film starring Emilie Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor, and Joel Kinnaman as five people who are fighting off a species of aliens who attack them while in Moscow. And, I know you're thinking that this sounds kind of dumb and unoriginal. Well, what were you expecting? There were many missed opportunities with The Darkest Hour. Not only was this venture unsuccessful, but it's also uninteresting, and has some pretty awful acting.
Species 2 may have some cool scenes throughout this movie, but overall it was flawed and dull. It had bad acting, and a predictable, awful ending. C-= 42 (4.2/10 rounds to 4/10)
This prison escape is grueling, touching, and at times humorous. From Siberia to India, this true life prison escape is wonderful. Colin Farrell actually did great in this film, for the time he's in it. Overall, this movie is great for anybody.
Twelve may not be your perfect film, but it's sufficient enough to fill your film needs. The only standout roles were Chace Crawford, but anyone between 15 and 20 (even though I'm 11) will love it.
Sure. The chemistry is phony. It's dialogue is corny. It was terribly acted. But, funny voiceovers, and good 3D make it a fun movie to see for kids and adults, leaving the adults to like it more than the children.
Surprisingly, this movie was quite bad. Ranging from flat acting to boring scripts, the only thing I ended up knowing from this bad film is that Nicholson looks like an oompa loompa. Oh, and to never spend $150 million making a romantic comedy with A-, and B+ stars.
Little **** is a boring, useless, terrible ending to a beloved trilogy. Meet The Parents and Meet The **** were both wonderful. Jessica Alba, the only new starring actress, is the only good actor. It seems to serious, with plots ranging from divorce to heart attacks to erectile disfunctions. Even DeNiro can't act well, with the bland, boring, repulsive script given to him. The only pro I can think of other than Alba are the children. Now five, they're funnier- not to mention more adorable than ever.
A fun time for everyone, and it will bring back old video game and comic book memories for adults. A hilarious film that may end on a low note, but the movie itself is a huge high note!
A big disappointment, yet I think some are taking this too harsh. I agree with fbcking stating the first trailer had no relevance to the film. This is a cliched sci fi film with a terrible plot, and terrible acting to put the cherry on top.
If you want to see the dirty R rated version of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, this is the movie for you. Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis are a comedy duo that will brighten your day. With witty dialogue, and cameos by Jon Cryer, Charlie Sheen, Juliette Lewis, Danny McBride, and Jamie Foxx, this movie is a hilarious road trip comedy. On the downside, the trailers are misleading, leaving me to believe this is the funniest movie of 2010, while it barely cracked my top 20. Go see this movie if your looking for something that will make you laugh. It's even more quotable than The Hangover, by the way!
Not as good as the preceeding Saw's. It's storyline was pretty good, and the traps were well designed, but the 3D could have been improved. This is not state of the art 3D. And the acting was like the other saw movies in the franchise... meh. Go see it if you like any of the other saw movies. If they offer it in 2D as well... go with 2D.
A fast paced action thrill ride that may be a tad confusing with a slow beginning, but Stone was a solid, unique film, that might be Milla Jovovich's best, and Ed Norton and DeNiro act amazingly together, like they were made to act together. A nice movie that you don't know what happens until the very end.
Wow. I've never seen such a disappointing movie ever. Travolta and Williams fail to get any laughs from adults or kids. Bernie Mac, you could have gotten a better farewell. RIP bernie
The book is terrible. I don't know how it got made into a movie in the first place. That being said, the movie is slightly better than the book, but fails to deliver anything funny. However, great acting by Keir Gilchrist, Emma Roberts, and Zach Galifianakas, along with a unique plot lands this at a 4 out of 10. Disappointing is an understatement. Rent it on DVD.
A decent, and passable remake of Cinderella. A family friendly movie, but very girly. Well, what did I expect when I saw this on ABC Family??? It's ok.
It may have been sort of stupid with bad acting, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. Very funny, but the movie itself made me want to go to sleep. For my first Nightmare movie, I would give it a 4 out of 10.
Thrilling and unexpected, and by far the best indie of the year, and one of the best movies of the year. I absolutely love this movie, and may be a bit predictable, but aren't all horror movies these days?
The Killer Inside Me was offbeat, odd, vulgar, with a pinch of good acting. The storyline was stellar, and the acting was beyond my expectations, but the movie is only good for the first twenty minutes. After Jessica Alba "died" I knew I was in for a slump.
I liked this movie. It was really funny, and all of these stupid critics are just jealous that such a movie came along that some critics loved, but some hated, so they blended in with the crowd.
The only reason I watched this movie in the first place was because of Tim Burton, and I'm being nice by saying it was horrible. One of the worst movies ever.
Critics are being way too harsh on this movie. Sure, it had flaws, but this was a decent suspense thriller. I've seen this movie five times, and I really like it the same every time I see it. An ending that you might have seen coming, but 88 minutes should have been in theaters longer than 88 minutes.
This true story is not only an intelligent movie, it also has a great cast, especially Jim Sturgess, playing the main character. It has a great twist ending, and deserves better critical recognition. It proves that a bunch of nobodies (and Kevin Spacey) can make a great movie. However, it's nothing like the book, which was a little disappointing.
I liked Machete very much. It was definitely a fun thrill ride. Machete also had an A list cast, including Robert DeNiro. The one flaw I believe this movie has, is the overusage of the parody type movie. However, the action is sick. The acting may not be the best, but this could Lindsay Lohan's ticket back in Hollywood.
I thank this movie, not only for giving Katherine Heigl, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, & Leslie Mann their movie start, I thank this movie for being ridicuolously funnt and clever. One of the funniest movies of the decade.
I wasn't very into Cyrus. I appreciated the interesting and unique plot, however it was genuinely stupid, and is overrated. All of this positive buzz is just hype. I'd see it on DVD, but just telling you it was a pretty boring, crazy, comedy-drama-thriller.
I don't get it. Spoofs are supposed to be stupid. The movie was really funny, but the movie was bad. However, the acting is funny, and is eerily similar to the Twilight Saga. However, it's not one of the best spoofs I've seen. I recommend it for anyone who's ready to laugh, but only go if you know some or most things about the Twilight Saga.
It may have some unexpected cameos, but that doesn't cut it, and You Again is a horrific movie that isn't a romantic comedy or a chick flick... it's more of a horror movie, due to the fact that it's scary of how bad You Again is. My favorite part of the movie was the trailers. Even Betty White couldn't get a laugh, and this corny DIsney movie is not worth the money. It's not even worth the 10 mile drive to get to the theater. Avoid You Again.
This movie is plain torture. One of... if not the worst movie of 2010 so far. Russell Crowe is in basically every Ridley Scott, and I've disliked only 1 or possibly 2 movies that they've collaborated on. This movie is plain awful. I'd rather watch The Bounty Hunter 3 times straight than watch a portion of this movie worthy enough to be crapped on. Just garbage.
Did Easy A deserve its grade, or was it an epic fail? Well, Easy A stars Emma Stone (Zombieland), as Olive Penderghast, an anonymous nobody in high school. Her only friends are Aly Michalka (From the band 78violet), as Rhiannon, a mid- popular hottie who likes to curse. Michalka was hilarious, and definitely proved she's not a Disney Channel girl anymore. Her other friend/crush is Penn Badgely (The Stepfather), as Woodchuck Todd. His performance was bland and boring, however unique in a way where his humor was dry, yet funny. Her final friend is Brandon, played by Dan Byrd (Cougar Town) is her homosexual friend, who fakes having sex with Olive to earn popularity points. Although he was only in the movie for about 8-10 minutes, Byrd's performance was very gay. I guess that's good acting.... Her enemies are pretty much the entire school Christian club, but Marianne, played by Amanda Bynes (Sydney White) is her main nemesis, who also starts the entire rumor of her losing her virginity. Bland and boring, this is Bynes' last... and worst acting role she has ever done. Thomas Haden Church (Spider Man 3), Lisa Kudrow (Hotel For Dogs), and Malcolm McDowell (Halloween 2), play school faculty members, who are very funny. If you haven't seen or heard about this movie, you must be blind and deaf, so there's no need to explain this movie. Overall, the movie was great, however the last third of the movie turned more into a drama. So, Easy A may not have gotten an A, but it did get an: A-
Will Devil make you fear going in elevators, or will make the audience want to put pitchforks through themselves? Devil is about five people stuck in an elevator, with one of them being the Devil. The people in the elevator are Jenny O' Hara (Extract), Bojana Novakovic (Edge Of Darkness), Geoffery Arend (500 Days of Summer), Bokeem Woodbine (Ray), and Logan Marshall-Green (Brooklyn's Finest). Chris Messina (Greenberg) plays a detective trying to piece together which one of these people is the Devil. Devil starts out slow, but the effects, the plot, and the acting piece together a decent supernatural-horror flick. The thing that I like best about this movie, is the twist ending. Overall, the movie rarely scared movie. However, the one person that turns out to be the Devil, and the way that person looked at the camera nearly made me pass out. Also, they all have a little dirt on them, so you can't tell which one is the Devil. For example. Hara's character is a robber, Novakovic likes to marry the rich, and leave them with their money, Arend's character is one of the main causes for the economy, Woodbine's character is a thug, and Green's character is just plain weird, carrying a satchel with pliers, scissors, and more creepy stuff, and doesn't take them with him on the elevator. I expected this movie to actually be funny. However, it's my favorite horror film since The Crazies. However, the beginning starts out slow, but I got into it after 20 minutes. Devil ends with the quote "If there's a devil, there has to be a god." Hopefully, when I fall asleep tonight, there will be a guardian angel with a dream catcher right next to my bed, so I don't get nightmares. An hour and twenty minutes of fun, Devil gets a: B+.
This movie received a mixed response from me. I expected much more from Ben Affleck's skillful directing. Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, & Blake Lively seemed into their respective roles, however Affleck and Rebecca Hall were in their own little worlds. Pretty disappointing, however I liked the intelligent plot and jokes through the movie.
