Fire Emblem: Three Houses9
Aug 17, 2019
Three Houses changes a lot of the things the Fire Emblem franchise is known for, such as drastically altering the class system, getting rid of the child unit system from Awakening and Fates, and featuring a lot of non-combat gameplay where you walk around an academy and instruct your students. The addition of Battalions during combat provides new strategic options, and the many skills you can learn and equip to your units allow you to customize your army to your liking. Likewise, the addition of Combat Arts, special attack that grant bonus effects in exchange for reducing weapon durability, add a neat option where you can increase combat efficiency at the cost of your resources. The only issue I have with the game is that the beginning of the game can be rather slow, making repeat playthroughs to see the different routes feel boring at first. Overall, a fantastic addition to the Fire Emblem franchise.

First of all, this game costs 40 dollars, not 60. 60 is for the Origins Edition, which contains extra items such as skins and a World of Warcraft pet. Secondly, this game is meant to played for the sake of having fun. Not for progression, not for prestige, not for serious competition (outside of esports team, of course), but for pure, unadulterated, fun. Sure, it gets repetitive, but it's still fun, even after 20+ hours, at least for me. If you like Team Fortress 2, you'll probably like this.

Great graphics, great gameplay, great soundtrack, great story. One of the greatest games in the action-RPG genre, if not the best. Aside from a few issues regarding lag while fighting against other players and a few bosses being sub-par, I have no complaints. This game is amazing.

The humor is great and the story is surprisingly interesting. Unfortunately, the gameplay, while original, is extremely simple and grows repetetive very quickly. Character art also leaves a lot to be desired, with most characters having only a couple of expressions and only one animation for talking.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma9

Takes the formula from Continuum Shift and improves it, adding new characters, new game modes and new gameplay mechanics. If you liked any of the previous BlazBlue games, you'll love this one.

Complete average hack 'n slash. If you desperately need a game to play with your online buddies, this will suffice, but there are far better alternatives.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax7

Better than P4A, but still quite flawed. An entertaining fighter to be sure, but the lackluster story mode drags on and it adds nothing of worth to the Persona series. Golden Arena mode is an excellent idea, though, and gives the game a single player mode that's actually fun. I'd recommend this game to ASW fans, but not Persona fans.

The Legend of Korra7

While it may pale in comparison to some of Platinum's other games, this game is well worth the 15$ it'll cost you. Animations all look smooth and polished, and there's a fair bit of unlockables to collect. The gameplay is also very enjoyable, featuring a multitude of different ways to fight, including Jump Cancelling, Dodge Cancelling, Dodge Offset and switching bending styles mid-combo. It is a bit on the short side, though, with one playthrough lasting roughly 5 hours. (Subsequent playthroughs will probably run you about 2 hours each) There are also quite a few balance issues regarding the different styles of bending. Waterbending is only moderately useful as a long-range technique, firebending is practically worthless, earthbending is incredibly powerful but a tad too slow and cumbersome to be useful near the end game or on Extreme difficulty. Meanwhile, airbending is fast, powerful, deals a lot of hits and hits all around you. There's hardly ever any reason to use anything besides airbending. The story is also nothing to write home about, though it's not terrible either.

The Legend of Korra: A New Era Begins1

Extremely similar to Fire Emblem. The only real difference is that characters have elemental weaknesses. (Earth beats Water, Water beats Fire, etc.) There's no voice acting and the animations all look incredibly dull and uninspired. Even the cutscenes look terrible. Furthermore, the story is bland and forgettable.
