This latest installment of Ys manages to lose its identity by removing a huge part of what made its predecessors fun. That is, exploration and fast paced gameplay. The poor originality of the game becomes obvious very quickly while it reuses the same formulaic design for every single chapter of the game where you have to break into jail yet again while having a new character that joins your party. You are never really looking forward the next chapter nor are you ever wondering what is going to happen next making the long dialogue unappealing on its own. It doesn't take long to realize you are locked into small zones (Within the same city) that gradually expand as story progresses while you're basically forced to constantly do unrelated boring fetch quests to actually progress with the game. What made Ys fun is the fact it didn't drag forever to get into the action, story and exploration. Recent Falcom games seem to suffer from the same modern Legend of Heroes syndrome where instead of the main cast moving towards story progression, the story always magically comes to you as you do unrelated mundane quests. Maybe one day Falcom will learn that the world doesn't revolve entirely around the main protagonist. As an Ys fan myself, I can say with certainty that this is the worst title by far. It seems like Falcom lacked budget while porting their graphic engine to Unreal and decided to give us a half-assed game hoping to recoup the money it cost them. I'm very disappointed and I hope Falcom can do better in the future.

Boring and uninspired gameplay combined with the most dull and cliché story/characters makes for a very unappealing experience. The puzzles are an insult to the players intelligence. People are seriously looking back at these games through rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia. One has to wonder how we managed to play these subpar games 15 years ago. The only redeeming factor is the soundtrack and it's not even something you will find memorable which says alot about the game. Stay away from this title... for your own sanity.

A duke nukem wannabe... that bends the knee. Buy it today and lose all content the next day. Edit: The game is not getting censored anymore, but people are most likely still going to remember the « betrayal » to some extent. The company needs to take this as a lesson and move forward. Nobody knows how they'll censor their future games after this, but this game is worth buying and playing if you like old school FPS.

Great game. It's Duck Dynasty. It's funny. It's cool. You know you are too, so why hesitate?

Finally, a game where you can ditch the whole world just for the sake of your waifu. Choose your path and strike down the baddies to become her hero. 10/10 would recommend.

An insane masterpiece ****. Of course, being a batman game instantly raises the game rating by at least 10 points. The graphics and ost is incredibly amazing for the Gamecube. Not a single game can come close to this beautifully crafted piece of art. Simply, a true hidden gem of the previous gaming era and the magnum opus of that generation. To this day, I'm still left wondering how Kemco could come up with such a perfection and I will forever be grateful for such fond memories of my childhood. I love you Kemco, you're the very best thing that happened in my life

A great masterpiece **** that is still reigning as the best strategy rpg of all time despite all the years. Unlike most other srpg games, the story is not aimed for little kids and the extremely high customization potential will keep you engaged beyond the game's main story.

If you like games with great worldbuilding, character development/interactions and a massive plot that spans over the course of several games, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and I can't stress enough how amazing the soundtrack is. You'll be mind-blown playing this game for sure. Also try the previous Trails in the Sky series if you like this one, it's just as good.

Great game, but a bit lacking in terms of fanservice compared to previous entries. Can't wait for Dead or Alive Extreme 4 with VR on PC for the obvious mods everyone should be using. Not sure why people even care about the expensive costumes, it's not even required to play and you get an initial roster of over twenty characters to play with. Only drawback is the unpredictable AI. Sometimes at max difficulty, the AI does nothing and will get destroyed by simply mashing a single button and at other times, low difficulty AI will counter most of your attacks and be on steroids. A bit too random if you ask me. Oh yeah, and the awful costume unlocking, but you can use Cheat Engine or mods to remedy that lol

Ys VIII is a marvelous game that will make you want to explore and discover all of the island mysteries over the course of the main game. The gameplay is fluid and fast paced as expected of an Ys game. The soundtrack is amazing as always thanks to Falcom Sound Team jdk. Don't be fooled by the other reviews, the PC port is excellent and I never crashed once during the entire playthrough.

An Advance Wars clone that pales in comparison to the original game. The story is extremely bland and stupid, characters are meh and the units are unbalanced. The **** AI (Which is extremely stupid) running away all the time will make you waste hours of your life over the course of the main campaign chasing it to complete the objectives. Don't waste your time on this, there are better games out there. It's basically a poor man's Advance Wars.
