It doesn't quite rank up there with Kids or Dazed and Confused, but it shares a similar tone between those two. Although sometimes it **** because the characters are so dumb and the plot somewhat unbelievable, but just enough to keep the story going from place to place. I thought the movie went fast for being 2.5 hours long.

for a movie that doesnt even need to exist, it is pretty good for what it is. but it is just an updated version of the original. so if you love the original you will like some moments here, with that 2016 addition.

it had a pretty slow buildup, but it ends up reeling you in with its two lead performers, even if the film feels like a slightly above average hbo movie.

wait for dvd. for such a short film it takes a really long time to get through. i did laugh a few times but overall i did not like the film. it wouldve been way better as a short film.

Like most films of this caliber the trailers and promotion are better than the final product. Since the villains are heroes, the actual villains are corny and laughable. The music is good but not as obscure as it was made out to be. Will Smith wants gun control except when it comes to this film.

standard woody allen of his 2010 years. it actually feels a bit like irrational man, a story of romance, but with some dark themes hidden underneath it. the cinematography is amazing, and steve carrel isnt that annoying.

i would say you most likely need a good audience to enjoy the movie. deep down you are probably better watching the series on dvd. the film has some 'best of' moments in the beginning but a really weird third act.

i would say the down side to this movie was each major event after event happening made it come off a bit soap opera-ish. the story can be a bit rough at times, but it has an ending shows some light at the end of the tunnel even if everything hasnt been answered.

the third act is what really saved the movie for me and turned it into something special. i think the trailer shows too much of the film, or the film is an extended version of the trailer.

its okay. it reminded me of classic mean girl films like heathers mixed with 80s italian horror. still just because its visually stunning with a cool soundtrack, the story is clunky, uneven and confusing.

the first half is better than the second. its good, but it could have been a lot better. still its worth checking out, i must admit the score can end up being annoying.

Another pretty over rated film being hailed as the next best thing when youve seen it thousands of times before. The film actually has a great buildup and needed more explanation. Good music too, besides some gore there wasnt anything new for me.

as the tagline suggests, it is a true spiritual sequel to dazed and confused. there are references throughout. however the movie makes a tonal shift in the second half which changed the mood for me. the first half is the dazed sequel, the second half is another before sunrise/boyhood rehash.

this movie could have been more of an episode for a tv show than an actual feature length film. not much happens except these three people are stuck in a bunker. its very boring and then some action happens but its so dark you cant see anything. avoid this movie.

the trailer pretty much sums it up with this film, so if you liked that i would suggest go seeing it. otherwise you might be disappointed like some people at my screening.

took me back to the blair witch project. i think it couldve been a little scarier though. but one of the best horror films in a while. the score is amazing.

a tough film to rate. its very bleak and depressing and for that the story is captured well, other than that the rest of the story can be summed up in a short film. good cinematography but can be very tedious to watch at times since it mostly takes a first person view.

why is this film getting bad reviews? i actually liked it! but keep in mind, this is josh brolins movie, not george clooneys. its a bit clunky and unever, takes a while to get going. but i was **** in.

i would say the film has very strong aesthetics; the cinematography, the costumes, music. otherwise the story is just so so. its not a bad film, pretty moody in some scenes.

i thought it was a well done movie overall. for a movie with only a few characters it was engaging and emotional. however for a short movie i felt it dragged a little bit. still dont miss it.

i liked the film from start to finish, and dont let the long runtime fool you, i wasnt bored or checked my watch once. its not a perfect film though, but its better than hateful eight. so if you want a good action film with a simple story check this one out. awesome music and cinematography.

its a well done movie. it looks good, it sounds good, and its a good story until the end. it became a bit cheesy when the big drama happened. also i think hollywood loves to see two lipstick lesbians. when was the last time a male gay romance was seen on screen?

really boring. i like boring movies but there has to be a purpose. the purpose of this movie was sold that it was shot with glorious 70mm ultra panavison film. the most of this glory will be during the opening credits, the rest of the film you are locked in a room hearing the n word over 200 times and seeing jennifer jason leigh be brutalized.

i thought the movie was better than spotlight, since that film seems to be receiving all the praise. when most movies lose their momentum the third act this one became more intriguing. not debaucherous like wolf of wall street.

im not that big of a star wars fan, but the movie just wasnt very good. it started out great, and the action scenes were exciting, but then theres these dull performances and arcs in storytelling that was just making me wish the movie was over and it just kept on going.

i heard good things about the movie but it was barely funny overall, with the party scene taking up a big chunk of screen time. i think a better movie if dianne weist was in it more because was pretty funny when she showed up. 'Sisters' is nothing you havent seen before.

a sometimes refreshing sometimes frustrating movie. the main character chi-raq is hardly a focus in the film, and there is not enough story to see why the violence is going on, just lots of screaming and blaming, samuel l jackson gives a great nod to 'Dolemite.'

there is a scene here where the character of kirk douglas says 'somewhere in here there is a good story.' that sums it up with this film. louis ck is useless and by the end all i wanted to do was watch the old films Trumbo wrote.

its a great film from start to finish. if you love old school Peanuts, you will really enjoy this movie. lots of nods to the old movies, but at the same time the story is told for a new generation.

Vapid & narcissistic, By The Sea is 2 hours of Brangelina staring at the sea, drinking themselves silly and trying to find the desire within each other. Some campy acting, you might be in for a treat.

the movie is good, but i think you can wait for HBO On Demand, since it has a 'movie of the week' feeling. Good performances, but i didnt think anything was groundbreaking.

i like the look and style of the film, but the cgi ghosts were probably the weakest part .some of the violence just came out of nowhere. the movie is half pg-13 half hard R.

overall, its a good movie but it does have some **** middle is a bit messy and it seems like theres a few different movies rolled into one. good to watch on a rainy day.

it had a good build up, and it was funny at some moments. but towards the middle it just dragged at certain scenes and i couldnt wait for it to end and didnt care what happened.

I think the build up was very strong, and i enjoyed the film overall. However, i wanted it to end, and I hate that feeling. I think the s enes with the wives and family at the end did not flow well with the film. Amazing cinematography.

by the time the film is over, youd wish youd end up like the first victim. do not watch this. its hipster crap. watch the orignal chainsaw massacre for a good scare.

great movie. chris rock and rosario dawson have great chemistry. really funny script, kept me engaged throughout the film. not a perfect film, but one of the most entertaining this year.

somewhere inside this film there is a good one. but too much time is spent in schools and restaurants, not to mention viola davis annoying character with an attitude. somewhere, interesting things are happening to the characters and we never get to find out. guess i have to watch the other two? wait for dvd.

forgettable, lifetime movie. a couple of good scenes. there are two scenes of violence against women and children which were pretty nasty, other than that, its a generic movie.

it all boils down to common sense, still the movie had pretty visuals, and was informative, but it became ironic that most of what you see is junk food advertising.

i think this movie had alot of potential to be spectacular. it seemed more like a tv movie to me, some scenes and characters felt out of place and disconnected. the music and cinematography did not draw me in.

i couldnt watch anymore than 20 minutes. i felt claustrophobic and car sick. this isnt taking away the talent from the actors or crew, and what they tried to achieve, because i did watch the trailer, and was intrigued enough to seek out the film.. there was only so many times i could see cut away shots of the radio/bluetooth or headlights on the highway.

i felt more during this movie than any other movie released so far in 2014. some moments come out predictable, but i was really connected to the story. i think maggie gyllenhall gave a great performance, but it may take a while to get used to her. great alternative music as well.
