I try to be open minded with new Star Wars content. I understand it is designed for you get audiences. But I also I understand the fundamentals of story making and film production and I am struggling to figure out what the point of this film is and why it so undercooked. Feloni and Favreau get way too many free passes from the more toxic elements of the fandom. Maybe there should be accountability this time.

There's way too much output of Christian Nationalist slop lately. This film lacks good storytelling or historical accuracy, so it's main purpose must be to manipulate easily gullible audiences with whatever naive or nefarious intentions it has.

Without the cameos and fan service, this is a simple story of redemption and friendship. Recent MCU films have taken greater risks and did not have to rely on shock and awe so much.

There are some awkward editing issues, but this movie throws out fan service and provides a uniquely Marvel experience and it is better for it. The movie avoids overwhelming the audience by only diving so deep into the Multiverse. It straddles a fine line between horror and a regular action flick and keeps the best features of both. The decisions made with Wanda are a little jarring at first but make for a less predictable movie in the long run. I loved seeing America a Chávez get introduced to the MCU and cannot wait to see what she has to offer in the future.

This movie hits quite a few high marks. It addresses dark themes and subject matters without becoming lost in them. It gives a lot more depth to decisions made in other MCU movies without having to over-indulge in it's connections to those movies. It also falls into a familiar Marvel trope of only so deep villains. This is definitely not meant for a younger audience, which is a bold movie on Marvels part

This is easily a top 10 MCU movie. The story and character development is solid. The movie experience is spectacular. Brie Larson does a great job portraying someone who has had their identity ripped from them and spends the story trying to reclaim that identity. A lot of people complain that she "doesn't show enough emotion" but I say that is a farce since her character is constantly being told to contain her human-side. Can't wait to see Carol Danvers again next month.

User Scorejaredwallace91

In defense of The Last Jedi: This movie is unpredictable and unlike any Star Wars film to proceed it. Yes, there are elements of the movie that at first seem out of place for a Star Wars film. The Force is used in new ways. You can even say the Force and its many forms (and its divisiveness) are the star of the film. There are many plot-points and none have the ending the audience is prepared for. The film movies quickly, yet it is the longest in the franchise. Most noticeably, Luke Skywalker's story "does not go the way you think." At first, all of these unprecedented changes come as a shock. That may be unsettling for Star Wars fans that feel the franchise must fit in a box. For everyone else, this movie is everything Star Wars should be: funny, unpredictable, filled with family drama, mystic, and inspiring. This movie will be debated as long as Star Wars is a main staple in popular culture. But it should be watched, reflected on, and remembered for bringing new life into one of the longest lasting sagas in cinema's history.
