It's just overhyped. It's more of the same, really. Nice graphics. Wheel support is still not quite there...counter-steering oversteer is literally easier in DiRT Rally (a simulation game) than it is in this arcade game, using a G29. The map is nice, but feels a bit empty (this part makes me excited for next year's Test Drive Unlimited game set on Hong Kong Island, which I think will be a much more interesting map than this. And that game hopefully won't have the cringey characters and voice-acting that we have here.) I prefer Horizon 3 over this, I think.

Giving it a 9 because I got the GOTY edition for £12, and using a G29 wheel, this is the most immersively fun gaming experience I've ever had. Locations, cars, graphics and physics are all superb. I mean, the graphics have some lighting issues, and apparently RBR had better physics, but I can't give it less than a 9 when I have had as much fun as I have. Career mode is very enjoyable, as are the online community events.

2020 review for anyone thinking about buying it now (I did so because the map appealed more to me than that of FH4, a game which I got to try and did not particularly enjoy because its map is somewhat bland:) I think you can get a very good idea of what this game is like through watching a few YouTube videos. If you like what you see then you will like what you play, because this game is exceptionally well-polished. (The only technical gripe I have is texture popping/draw distance, but you get used to it if you enjoy the driving itself.) It's like Test Drive Unlimited 2 but with more polish, more cars and better handling, plus a better photo mode, but less open-world freedom/exploration and believability. I have had zero fundamental technical issues running this on Win10 through Microsoft Store, other than two lock-ups in dozens of hours of gameplay which may have been caused by PC overheating (it's a pretty hardware-intensive game.) I am about 35% complete in the game and still enjoying collecting cars, taking photos of said cars in action, exploring the map and admiring the scenery, and still taking part in events which will probably only get tiring once you've exhausted the 350+-strong car list to the extent of your desires. (Making credits to buy and upgrade any car you want is relatively easy in this game.) EASILY the best open-world racing game I've played since the likes of TDU2 and Driver San Francisco almost ten years ago.

This is my first Halo game and it is a breath of fresh air from stuff like Call of Duty if you've never played Halo before. The game is very immersive in terms of setting, environments, level design and plot, and has AI which is far more engaging than that of COD. Playing on Heroic difficulty (the third-most-difficult of four), the game can get frustrating at certain difficult scenarios, but more often than not it is a rewarding challenge that requires a good element of tactical play. Graphics and performance are more than adequate. All that said, I wouldn't say it's an amazing game, just a very good one, and it is tarnished by installation bugs on Windows Store/Xbox app. Personally I didn't really notice any audio issues; everything sounded alright to me.

Positives - Best ever AI on a console racing game (maybe in any racing game ever) - they are pretty good at racing side-by-side and make generally good strategy calls - Career mode is there for those who enjoy it; Championships mode is very good with a wide variety of championships including sprint series and classic car series - Decent handling model, very playable on both controller and wheel - Good graphics with great lighting and colours - Online can be fun - The classic car selection is very good - A full race weekend is very immersive as one must consider weather forecast, tyre selection and condition for each session, practice sessions and management of car components Negatives - Handling and force feedback is not on the level of dedicated sim racers - Career mode gimmicks including Research & Development and driver transfers ruin any sense of realism as you progress through your career - Online can be a mess a demoralising to play - No classic tracks - Some bugs e.g. Safety Car glitches can ruin your race - Graphics look slightly cartoony and not like real life - they are too bright and not gritty enough Overall a great game mainly due to the AI being very good and engaging to race against in long-distance races. Accessible to all types of players and an immersive challenge for any F1 fan. Can't give it a 9 or 10 due to a myriad of slight drawbacks which could all be quite easily improved upon.
