What a rip for $30! This game does an impressive job of making you not give a **** about it. On PS4, the graphics look PS2 era, with awful clipping. There’s little story telling since the brother and sister only talk in their native lingo which none of us understand, and with limited subtitles… so in-game banter is useless, which means hardly any character development. I’ve explored about 50% of the world map and it all looks the same, with the same tasks over and over again. I blame my wasted dollars on Indie Gamers’ review, which dubbed this a “masterpiece”, that guy was utterly full of crap. Wait for this to go on sale at $10 if you must try it, otherwise skip. 3/10 only because the score is pretty decent, I’ll give it that.

Beautiful graphics, score and story far outweigh the gameplay glitchiness. Definitely worth picking up on a sale!

Outer Wilds9

i delayed playing this game because i thought it would ****, and now definitely regret that preconception. This is an outstanding game at it's price, and as an astrophysics nerd i quickly fell in love with the story and lore. Even if you dislike the game because of its admittedly clunky controls and bare-bones graphics, you simply must BUY THE SOUNDTRACK! The game's score tugs at one's heartstrings, especially if you've gotten deep into the story. I would give this an 8.5, but the soundtrack bumps it over the ledge to a 9.0. I would love to see a bigger-budget more developed PS5 remaster of this or maybe a sequel/prequel. This one will be hard to forget. Lastly, i was fascinated with black holes before playing Outer Wilds, but now, f--k black holes, they ****, literally.

my only hope is that someone from EA reads these reviews and realizes how badly we need Skate 4. that people should be forced to play this game on next gen consoles after playing Skate 2-3 is like drinking Schlitz after you've finished all the Glenlivet.

Bought this title for $15 on a whim... started off thinking it was a 6 at best, but after 30 hours in I have a hard time not giving it an 8. If you're waiting for DA4 like me, this is well worth it for less than $30 LIke everyone says, with a bit more money and time, this studio probably could've produced a 9/10 game with Greedfall. It would be SICK to see a fully open-world immersive Greedfall 2 on PS5. There you go, Spider, challenge offered. Textures are quite good, and environment could be great if not so empty. The towns can be boring with LOTS of pointless, empty rooms and houses and lifeless NPC's. The outside world, while a sandbox, is **** beautiful. Scenery doesn't offer too much biodiversity (again I'm only 30 hrs in) but it is awestriking at times. Hats off to the devs on the outdoor enviro. Voice acting is overall very good, but with some obvious fails... like the 20-yr old NPC outside of the arena with Petrus' voice, that of a 60-yr old chronic smoker lol. The companions' voice actors did great and really helped me feel like i knew those characters. Also, the companions are decently interesting characters, so good writing there too. Combat - 6/10, monsters - 4/10. Most enemies, if not the usual bandits, just look like big grey mangy fluffballs. Hard to tell one monster from the other. Combat adds little that is new and you're unable to command your teammates AI or take control of them like in DAI. Score and music are amazing, really set the mood in some of the outdoor maps. Quests were quite surprising for a game with some obvious concessions on detail. The quests are far from the typical **** fetch-quests. In fact, the game compartments those fetches in some rare Witcher-esque contracts. Side quests generally have some solid story behind them and are well worth doing. THe side quests definitely impact some outcomes and decisions of the main story. I had as much fun on most of these sidequests as with the WItcher series. Crafting, decisions, character building, romance options, all there... just not in such a robust model as you're used to from bigger RPG **** wait what'd i say?! i meant TITLES. yeah no **** in this game. Go and check it out on a budget, tame your expectations, and you'll be quite pleased.

Shadows: Awakening6

This game clearly took a lot of cues from other actual RPG's and feels like a light, sandbox version of Divinity 2. Clearly a hack-n-slash but with a smattering of RPG decision-making elements throughout. The writers made an attempt at lore which quickly becomes convoluted and almost silly, but at least the effort is there. SOme of the sidequests could be very easy to miss and some of these could almost never be solved without checking Google for some off-the-wall solution that only the writers thought of. The gameplay, while repetitive, is fun as it is not too complex and fine for just a chill gaming session. The concept of parellel worlds is fun and enriches some of the puzzles, but as other reviewers have noted, fighting as the Devourer gets tedious and disengaging pretty quickly. ANother cool concept is having all the different souls within the one demon and some of the NPC interactions that are caused by that. My favorite aspects of this game were the maps, graphics, and score... all quite pleasing and tend to make you forget that you're just playing a hack-n-slash. Still not enough though to keep me powering through past 30 hrs to see the actual ending(s). A decent value on sale for $10, but I don't see how people could sink 40-60 hours into this title.

After hours, i discovered there's only one way to actually enjoy this game, and it's by just floating around in space and enjoying the nerdy space scenery while listening to Pink Floyd on your phone. The score for this game is noisome, repetitive and painful on the ears- hardly what i'd call an actual soundtrack. The other reviews about awful gameplay and the boredom of drifting at a snail's pace from one point to another are accurate. With such great visuals and concept, it's a shame this game didn't live up to half it's potential. This is, exclusively, just a spacewalk simulator. I got it for $7 and wouldn't have paid a penny more.

A very boring and unattractive hack and slash. Not next-gen graphics by any means. I played this thing for about an hour and feel like I saw all I needed to see.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power9

What an insanely beautiful game! The best one of the Trine trilogy. Sure the 3D aspect can make some of the gameplay a bit frustrating, but the amazing graphics, colors and overall fantasy of the world far surpass any gameplay gripes. The score and sound of course are superb again, just like in Trine 2. The devs outdid themselves with this game. I’m enjoying the hell out of it, well worth the $20.

I feel bad reviewing any game after only playing for one hour, so I'm giving a +1 courtesy point to this review, increasing my 4 up to a 5. It's rare to feel so turned off by a game in so little time. Pretty much from the start, the gameplay is clunky and slow compared to the enemies. Controls don't work and it takes several tries just to reload your damn weapon. Graphics are on par with a PS3 game, definitely not next-gen. The voice acting reminds me of a drunk friend impersonating a Russian person and had me chuckling and shaking my head for most of the early cutscenes. This was amplified by the poor writing. The ambient sound was pretty bad too, like the superfast pitter-patter sound of your footsteps. Anyway, it was pretty obvious after an hour what I was in for, so deciding to remit this title back to Redbox. Really glad i didn't purchase this thing after seeing the cool trailers.

Assassin's Creed Origins8

Best AC game since AC2 in my opinion (have not yet played Odyssey though). Some of the voice acting and story writing may be admittedly weak, but that is far outweighed by the game's strong points. The gorgeous, immersive world offers far more opportunities to be a classical assassin than i would've expected for ancient Egypt. This game now makes me want to actually travel to Egypt lol, just like AC2 made me want to travel to Italy. Textures, shading and framerate are great and help the feeling of immersion, although the same cannot really be said for the NPC's. Gameplay and combat are vastly improved from Syndicate and Rogue, resulting in far fewer "f--k this game!" moments during combat and parkour. I give the storyline a 6.5/10 after about 20 hours in. Some of the cutscenes are actually pretty good. Heck, i might actually finish this one.

Giving PUBG a 6 (well, 5.5) because I knew what it was going in: unpolished, glitchy, poor graphics and texture, poor gameplay. Anyone who picked up this game expecting different just hasn't done their research on the game or watched any gameplay on YouTube. PUBG is not supposed to be about AAA aesthetics. Yes, the game ****. Yes, I get killed very frequently and it gets frustrating with a K/D of only 0.15. This game has made me want to throw my controller several times, the mark of a truly special game. But it's still fun AF and addictive. The more kills you get, the more you want to play. Dune buggies, vehicle kills, frying pans, weapon attachments, parachuting on top of other players, that's what PUBG is supposed to be about. Never before have I **** so bad at such an ugly game, but playing more matches is all i can think about! This game is probably ideal for people with addictive personalities. Keep your expectations in check and just enjoy the game for what it is.

Divinity: Original Sin II - Definitive Edition9

Wow what a game so far, 27 hrs in and I've loved every minute. I'm not giving this a 10 because, well I didn't give Witcher 3 a 10, and also because the combat difficulty is admittedly ridiculously brutal on anything higher than Explorer mode. I'd give a solid 9.5, easily one of the best RPG's I've ever played and probably ever will play. Everything that was good about DOS:EE has been improved on or kept the same, but most importantly, everything that was wrong with DOS:EE has been completely overhauled. It's like they actually listened to gamers before developing this one. The tactical, turn-based combat is still addictively fun, but Larian have vastly improved the story development via some of the companion characters and their stories/quests. I can't imagine going the Lone Wolf route in this game because the other characters are generally pretty compelling and really shape the story. Graphics and score are far, far better than we got with DOS:EE, which never felt like a next-gen release to me. During the Fort Joy chapters in DOS2, I often found myself just exploring and saying aloud "god, this game is f--king amazing" lol, true story bro. Character creation and crafting are very robust yet fun, again much better than in the first title. I don't think the quest log/journal and quest tracking are as frustrating as some people have been saying, and that is an important aspect of the game and its manageability. Yes, this is a big, deeply involved game that is probably not for casual gamers, but as a casual gamer myself, I've been completely happy investing loads of time into this one. I mean, there's always one game that turns a casual into a not-so-casual gamer.

Entwined1
Aug 25, 2018
I created a Metacritic account just so I could submit a review for this... "game". WTF. I started Entwined straight after paying my $10 and downloading and immediately the New Game mode launches into two bird thingies, one orange and one blue, flying around endlessly through a tunnel. No narrative at all as to what the player is doing or what these bird thingies are. The bird flying thingies in the tunnel went on for 30 straight minutes with no end in sight. I wasn't even sure I'd started the game properly, so restarted and then endured the same thing until I realized that's the entirety of content to this title. I get it, it's a Chinese metaphor for relationships and supposed to be poetic and beautiful and all. It's not. This app, I won't even call it a game, is a total scam. I want my $10 back.
