Ok i finished this game and while I didn't get off to a good start and gave it a low score, I'm going to raise it because it's actually not that bad (now, after all the patches and changes to the game). Right off the bat if you want any challenge at all, you should crank up the difficulty to torment 1 atleast. The game is stupidly easy on anything lower. They got rid of a lot of things which made diablo 2 great, but they did put in other gameplay mechanics which are pretty good too. Anyway it's highly addictive so beware :) It has tons of replay value.

This is a game you will either love or hate.. it really depends on YOU. I for one liked this game. Short & sweet, good piano music, good atmosphere, good voices and dialogue. It's basically an interactive story.

An excellent game, much like Diablo 2 and Torchlight. Good story, great combat, superb skill tree, excellent companion mechanics, excellent voice acting, very good graphics (like dungeon siege). Highly recommended.

This is a very good action packed game and quite scary at times. Great story, scary monsters, decent weapons, etc. However the controls weren't the best (console port) and the FOV ****. Before playing the game, be sure to hack the FOV so it's not as nauseating.

This game has a great story and atmosphere, but too much platforming in order to get hidden items which advance the story. Didn't like the controls at all and found it too difficult so just threw in the towel & played in god mode and hacked the jumping to allow me to jump higher.

I'm finding it difficult to rate this game. On the one hand I want to give it 10/10 for story but 3/10 for the sheer illogicalness of the puzzles (many are nigh impossible to figure out without a walkthrough) which really interrupts the flow of the story a lot. There is also a LOT of backtracking in the middle half of the story which gets old really fast. Another thing about the game I really liked were the voices... solid 10/10. There's also plenty of comedic situations in there. The graphics are good and suit the story/atmosphere. Didn't like the load times though. For a game with 2D backgrounds, the load times are sometimes several seconds for some odd reason. Most of the problems with this game were fixed in the sequel, so I highly recommend playing it (Harvey's New Eyes).

Seems like it would be a good game, but it's just too hard to be enjoyable. No weapons, not enough ammo, weapons constantly degrading. If i wanted a chore I'd do the laundry.

It might work reasonably well as an interactive movie/story (there is no real decision-making or choices in the game), but in that case, the developers should have made the game move along a LOT faster. Such as interruptible cutscenes, faster transitions between locations (extra click to skip transition completely), etc.

Max payne 3 is a great game. It's part shooter, part interactive movie.. mostly the latter. And I paid less for it ($12, steam sale) than a real movie ticket would have cost. The graphics are superb. I absolutely don't agree with the negative reviews of this game. I'm a diehard PC games fan, and I was actually almost not going to buy this game because of the negative reviews. But I'm glad I did. Fight scenes are pretty realistic, and weapon handling and mechanics are realistic and good too (you can only carry 2 handguns and 1 big gun). Story is pretty good, but I didn't follow some stuff (i'm **** like that). The only problem is that the game weighs in at 30 GB which is massive (it obliterated my download quota). I don't really care about multiplayer, but the single player rocks! I also didn't mind the trippy visuals, like some people did. I think PC game fans are being very ungrateful. Even if this is a console port (I absolutely detest consoles and ****), they've done a superb job of it and it is eminently playable on PC.

I enjoyed this game immensely. Fairly short but more than worth the price (75% discount on steam). It was very obviously made by an indie studio and it shows in the minor grammatical errors (which do lend it some charm). There are lots of different types of weapons, each having their strengths & weaknesses. You can only carry a limited amount of ammo which means you'll be using all of the weapons instead of just the most powerful one. Has minor RPG elements. Graphics are good and quite charming. The dungeons are randomized, but the game probably doesn't have much replayability. I heartily recommend this game.

This is an excellent game. I totally loved it. It was the second game i played in the blackwell series (I got the bundle and played them all). Totally worth it. Great atmosphere and music. Perfectly captures the 40's(?).. Also I really loved the main character's artwork and animations. Story was short and sweet and tied in very well with the first game.

This is a great game, valve certainly doesn't disappoint. This sequel introduces a whole LOT of more gameplay elements like light bridges, tractor beams, lasers, 3 types of gels etc. Overall, I give this game a 9.5 for the single player. I take off half a point because the single player campaign feels too scripted. I don't remember the original being this scripted. They literally tell you exactly where to put the portals to solve the puzzles. The rest of it is great: Glados is her usual awesome self :) and it feels like there is much more story this time around. I also liked the different environments, some of which are quite retro and reminded me of Fallout. I got it at 75% off on steam. I feel like i'm practically stealing the game at that price. The game also has a great level editor and zillions of community built maps to keep you busy for practically forever.

I didn't like the game at all. It's just not much fun. Pro: interesting presentation (music, ambience, etc), but I personally don't think it fits very well in a zombie game. Cons: gameplay ****. Weapons are very slow to respond, zombies move too fast, frustrating. Didn't feel like playing after 3 maps.

This is an amazing game.. I absolutely love it. The game mechanics are quite unique - I've never seen a game like this before. Graphics are gorgeous & cute. This game really tests your reactions and quick-thinking ability, especially at the higher difficulty levels. The dungeons are made up of various types of blocks. The dungeon structure is not random, but the blocks are more or less random, and during gameplay the blocks change randomly. At the higher difficulty levels the game is very challenging!

Great game... I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just like its predecessor, there's lots of stealth, combat, cliffhangers, great story and writing, fairly difficult enemies, etc. And this time around there's a wee damsel in distress to save... what's better than that?? The game is reasonably short so easy to get it over with and back to real life. (i personally hate games that go on and on interminably.. some of us have real lives, you know!) there were a few bugs (upon entering a level, the lighting is wrong.. fixed by reloading the checkpoint).. but nothing serious..

Music: great (trancey techno, ambient, space, etc).. loved it Controls: excellent... takes a short while to get used to it.. also got a good tutorial level world design: excellent .. looks like a pretty massive world.. combat: excellent.. not too difficult, not too easy graphics: excellent.. however some sections had excessive colour saturation... story: pretty good, although I didn't follow the plot very well (probably me.. i confuse easily) definite must-buy...

It seems like a decent enough game, except the devs didn't think to include the ability to change screen resolutions. So I'm stuck playing this game on a widescreen monitor at some abysmally low resolution with huge black borders everywhere (even on the top and bottom). Also, for some idiotic reason the whole game looks squashed horizontally, which is stupid considering the big black borders :P everytime i try and start playing the game, I get pissed off at how everything looks so squashed and i give up. Maybe sometime in the future i'll give it another go. but for now it deserves a 2.

It's a very good game for the asking price ($10), but you can get it when it's on sale on steam for far less at times. It's something that kids would enjoy too. Good atmospheric music, controls are a bit strange, as I find movement best with the left hand arrow keys but the game requires you to use the mouse a lot of the time, but often you'll have to move and do stuff with the mouse at the same time. WASD movement is also available. Anyway, it's a good game. Short and sweet. I've been playing for 2-3 hours and i'm a bit more than halfway through the game. And i'm a fairly cautious gamer. Replay value is probably none. Still, I heartily recommend it :)

i got it at a discount on steam and i must say for the money i paid (few bucks) i got more than i was hoping for... it's fairly short but sweet.. (steam says i finished in about 4 hours, but i think it was a bit longer than that). The visual style is quite different and novel. the puzzles are quite good... it has a clever selection of puzzle elements that are combined in clever ways. The sounds and music are all right.. perhaps a bit lacking in variety? I didn't particularly like the control scheme (keys can't be customized). I would have preferred if movement was controlled by the right hand (just like how we played the early platformers). But eventually I got the hang of it (after a LOT of dying inadvertently). Thankfully, dying is not unpleasant due to the sheer number of checkpoints. I liked that i didn't have to bother with saving and loading manually. Anyway, buy it.. in my opinion it's quite good for the price.

This is a great game, definitely worth playing. I had a few false starts over the last few years, but i played it and finished it over the last few weeks. according to steam, I clocked in at 27 hours. The game has a few bugs still but none of which are showstopping. This game had a few balance issues (way too much ammo and money in the world, pistols are completely useless beyond the first 2 hours or so). The environments was absolutely stunning and very authentic looking. Before playing the game I suggest you read up on the history of chernobyl on wikipedia... it's fascinating. The enemy AI was very good, but unfortunately there was no stealth aspect to the game, simply because enemies are aware of you almost all of the time, so the only way is to run and gun. The story was just ok and the missions were pretty all right. Overall I loved it... HOWEVER, i unfortunately hadn't heard of "stalker complete 2009" until after I finished the game, which was a real pity... so if you haven't played it yet, be sure to pick up that mod before starting up the game.

excellent game, for the low price. loses a few points for too much backtracking, bad controls, somewhat samey & repetitive combat (in cyberspace). Good 3D isometric view, however can't see behind obstacles, and hard to judge heights, and alignment etc (hard to describe this problem).. Also too many empty and pointless looking corridors
