WHY does Nolan insist on childish dialogue? Astronauts that need basic physics explained to them as if they were toddlers? Seriously? The ending was truly the worst that I have ever witnessed for a major studio film. From start to finish the juvenile plot and dialogue (and total abandonment of actual scientific foundations) destroy this film. The film’s musical score is the only part worthy of any recognition, and even THAT is repetitively monotonous at times.

This movie fails to live up to all of its hype. The acting was mediocre for the most part, and occasionally even so bad that it seemed like the actors were detached. This was compounded by the film’s snail-like pace. As far as the special effects and action scenes, they were surprisingly cheesy, to the point that they seemed like a parody instead of believable sequences. Also the dialogue was both poor as well as annoying to the point of distraction. All of the above things really take the audience out of “zone” which is necessary to be “drawn into” the film. It wasn’t a surprise that the plot is nothing like the book (Nolan has Odysseus as a war veteran dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, unlike his character depicted in the epic), however I thought that the changes were too much and really hurt the film. Not recommended at all.
