Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi5
Dec 26, 2017
Rian is a funny guy. He troll'd all of us with the Last Jedi. It's hard to fully like or dislike this film. There's some good stuff like: interesting relationship between Rey and Ben S(w)olo, all scenes including Luke Skywalker and of course Poe Dameron. On the other hand Mr. Johnson gave us a really big "GO F%$K YOURSELVES!" with things like: giving screen time to characters that no one cares about (Rose, Holdo), wasting Finn, DJ (the hackerman, yea they cast Del Toro for this trash role), choosing not to develop anyone (except Kylo) from "the bad guys" side (i didn't like Phasma or Snoke very much but C'MON what was the point of their being in the franchise if they ended up like that?) .
We've got two movies in fact. The predictibale, boring one with rebels fighting Imperi... sorry, I mean FIRST ORDER. Also sub-plot of two love birds at the casino trying to find something to do and almost every "we can be as funny as MCU" scene (i don't know for sure but i should put here this specific part where Leia turns out to be Superman) . The second movie is the one with Rey learning things and training, Luke being grumpy and/or awesome while using new force tricks and Kylo developing some personality. Also we can add here moments with exchange of views between Leia and Poe, which weren't that bad . Although entire movie was long, it didn't feel like it. Maybe action was going a little bit too fast at some points.
I definitely going to rewatch Episode VII at least 2 times and place it somewhere next to the Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi and Rogue One. Just like the Age of Ultron (i'm purposely comparing this to other Disney film) it was a disappointment at some parts; it has elements that were good enough to keep viewers entertained but as a whole it could've been done much better.
One can say that Rian was only inspired by Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and stories from Legends however he was still keeping the old stuff just so we want to "buy" his movie and in the end not much of original content get through to be remembered in this mess.
Well, to be fair, at least this one is better than Farce Engorges (on the other hand that's not a big achievement).

Baby Driver8
Jul 22, 2017
Baby Driver is a comedy/crime which is really hard to compare to any other film from these genres (except for other Edgar Wright's work). It takes the attention from viewer at the beginning to end while giving the big amount of perfectly fitting music. Action is really compelling, plot is smart, easy to follow and it encourages to care about our protagonist, Baby. It's not hard to predict what will happen in the first 30 minutes of watching but in second part of the film things are getting twisted, the whole crime/thriller mode is being activated with less amount of space for typical humour. The romance isn't the best and someone could say that it's the most flat and simplified part but for me relation between Baby and his "just-met love from the first sight" Debora came out quite natural and suitable to the rest of the movie.
Casting was perfect. Jamie Foxx as gangsta/psycho is extremely believable, Kevin Spacey is very minimalist but his performance is so charismatic and gentle that he need only one statement to give unforgettable expression/scene. The rest of the cast act also with no big flaws. Too bad Jon Bernthal was there only for a short time.
Talking about weak parts of Baby Driver is like talking about consequences of eating pizza - it's not worth its time. In the end we have some much fun with product which doesn't consider viewers as idiots (yes Baywatch, i'm looking at you). Although many things happen like in some fantasy (some elements of car chase, coincidences, romance part), it looks very realistic. We see character's motivations and how every situation escalates. Editing is on the highest level.
Also I can't believe how interesting was presented conversation in sign language between Baby and his step-father.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 27
May 7, 2017
It looks like James Gunn has a clear vision of introducing cosmic part of MCU to the mainstream audience. This sequel continues a few subplots which make us feel big empathy for characters even if it didn't have a main story until the half of the movie. When in the previous film the last chapter wasn't really good, in this scenario the final is by far the best part of the show.
One of the biggest advantages of the new Guardians(besides amazing music) was Ego, really complex and interesting character, playing by charismatic Kurt Rusell and voice acting of Rocket Raccoon by Bradley Cooper. Also visual effects of every battle and planet are done incredibly well.
There are moments when we're getting one gag after another and then the serious scene but all of them in conclusion make film more entertaining. Drax's lines were giving me smile every time, just like his relation with Mantis also Yondu and Ravagers didn't waste their screen time. Although this formula works perfectly for our adventure-comedy-space opera, I think Marvel will have to take some more risky steps forward for the GotG Vol.3.

Logan9

Although movie has more than two hours, we can't say that there was something unnecessarily concluded in this touching, but predictable story. This is the first X-Men film(after X-Men and X2) which has everything that had to be in action movie, everything that Wolverine's fans deserves. Without that balanced, bloody massacres, maximum efforts of actors and future, almost post-apocalyptic mood the last big-screen episode about James Howlett aka Wolverine wouldn't be so successfull. Jackman and Stewart gave everything they could from their characters, Dafne Keen was the next star of the show, despite the fact that X-23 didn't talk too much, also Boyd Holbrook and Stephen Merchant did excellent jobs playing as Donald Pierce and Caliban. Logan earned the honoured place next to the films like Iron Man, CA:Winter Soldier, X2: X-men united ans Spider-Man 2, as the memorable, nearly perfect movie from Marvel which also finished one great chapter in movie franchise about mutants.

Junfeng Boo delivers deep and well acted drama with really interesting subject. Although we won't find here many cheap, emotional tricks, we can feel that the movie didn't get the most from that complicated issue which is the death penalty. Even if Apprentice leaves us with some thoughts, this controversial topic could have been more used in film to strike at spectator's mind and give him feelings how he would have be the executioner, the man who is a just tool in the hands of justice system. Instead, we got a story about young assistant, his sister and old hangman with unsatisfying, forgettable final which didn't live up to the rest of the movie. Probably it would have worked better if Firdaus Rahman had showed more passion to the main character or if we had got more interesting secondary performances. It's still good acting but I got the feeling that something is missing. In the conclusion we can say that it's decent drama for one time but someone will find here lack of aspiration to have stronger impact on the viewer.

The Dark Knight10

The Batman movie we needed and we got it. Even if the ending conclusion didn't make much sense it was beautiful and encouraging. Also the way, Heath Ledger was playing the Joker should be remembered in history of the film industry.

Maybe it's not the most original sci-fi concept but movie delivers a light thrill which holds to the end. There're a few nice twists, story is well written and represented future vision of the world is quite interesting (it'll be great if we get a follow-up to this). However, roles could be better written, especially main character. I think Robbie Amell did the best he could but Rachael Taylor showed more intense play. For me, the most memorable part of the movie was music score and how it fits in with action on the screen.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier9
Mar 3, 2017
I don't know how far will MCU get with this franchise but I'm sure, it will be hard to beat the level which has been enormously raised by Winter Soldier. Russo Brothers did remarkable job, showing that there's no need to stick exactly to the comics to make an excellent Captain America movie. On the other hand, main villain is boring and a little bit disappointing. Story could be more realistic and stick to the previous marvel movies. But still we have the closest thing to the Dark Knight of MCU and amazingly enjoyable and original superhero performance. Oh and it has also Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man in it.

It's really surprising that this romantic comedy is one of the best movie in X-Men's franchise and how it had nothing to do with typical "save the mutant race/world" scheme. Ryan Reynolds showed perfect incarnation of merc with the mouth who can be ridiculous and annoying in the same time. Despite the fact that none of 108 minutes had been wasted, we could feel a little hunger after leaving the cinema. Also plot isn't the strongest part of a movie. Maybe next time we should see more expanded action scenes and less fooling around performed by Deadpool.
