Battlefield games are ones of potential. BF4 launched in a horrible state and it took them 2 years to fix everything. Battlefield 2042 isn't nearly as broken but it does need work. Thankfully about 6 months of work should do the trick. I'm still giving it a 7 because I'm really enjoying the game despite the flaws. I think it feels better to play, it's gorgeous and runs great on series x and PC. I was playing today at ultra settings with ray tracing at 4k60 no DLSS. With DLSS on quality I easily hit 80 and with DLSS and RT off I was averaging 107. Why include this in an Xbox review? Simple... Aside from ray tracing the Xbox version holds up quite well against PC. Yes PC looks better but not in a way that you notice during gameplay. It also loads SIGNIFICANTLY faster on Xbox. I see people complaining about the new class system but I like it. I hated being stuck in a certain role and being limited to certain weapons. There's no reason a medic or mechanic can't carry an assault rifle or dmr. The only real gripe I have is there's no scoreboard but I also understand it. If you're not that good but enjoy playing but constantly see your name at or near the bottom of the list it's probably going to push you away from playing. I'll update this review as patches hit.

I played this last year on PC with a 5800x, 32 gigs of ddr4, a 2080ti ftw3 ultra and had it running **** 4 SSD... And somehow the series x version looks basically identical and only runs about 10fps lower (Xbox at 30, pc at 40-50) This game is absolutely stunning and probably the BEST looking game on the market overall. It is even better looking if you go into the flight sim store and download free graphics upgrade packs, it's insane. The game plays fantastic on a controller but it also supports HOTAS which is nice. The flight mechanics can be tuned to however you want to play realism wise. Hell you can even play with realtime weather so if it's raining at your house and you fly there... It will be raining and even the clouds will look like the ones in real life. There are a couple bugs but nothing major and there are some areas with frame rate drops but it doesn't affect gameplay. Lastly this is on gamepass so give it a shot. It can be ultra relaxing or insanely intense. You can just fly around or do scenarios that will put your skills to the test.

This is a tricky one to review without spoilers but I think I can manage. So I was a MASSIVE fan of the original. In fact it's the only modern naughty dog game I like. So I was pretty hyped for this until the bomb dropped... Then I was worried and almost didn't buy it but on launch day I woke up and 20 min later I had bought it and started playing. The thing about this series is everything that makes it good is story based. The gameplay is very basic and easy stealth. I can literally play on hard and get through every section using stealth kills and that includes the ones where they basically try to force gun fights. So it's not the greatest as far as gameplay goes. I'd give gameplay a 5/10 which means average on my scale. Now the **** potential saving grace of destroyer of scores. It's both bad and good but unfortunately mostly bad. Don't get me wrong, there are still moments that feel genuine and some dialog that is good. The problem is it's far outweighed by genuinely bad writing. I don't care about genders or someone's preference in partner. So that's not the issue so please don't even go there. **** problem with the story is it's just bad. It's badly written, it's poorly paced and the important moments feel forced. Basically things happen more for shock value than they do for the benefit of the story. In the original it was the story that pushed me to beat it. I HAD to beat it as quickly as I could because the story had me hooked. Without that being the case in this one I had to force myself to play which is why it took me till 3 days ago to beat it and then collect my thoughts on the whole thing. I hate it...I wish I didn't, I really do. It's unfortunate really.

This is a poor looking game with a poor frame rate and long load times for EVERYTHING. We need a quality racing game on switch that isn't Mario kart but this game isn't it. Even at 50% off I'd say skip it. Eventually we will get a passable racing game on the switch.

Been playing this on PC at 4k60 maxed as well as Xbox one X and I have to say it's visually stunning. The detail in the cars and world is unmatched especially in an open world racer. It also has almost no pop in which is another amazing feat. The audio is every bit as good as the visuals as well although some cars have reused audio but that's understandable since there are over 450. Gameplay wise this easily tops previous Horizon titles and the seasons add a ton of replay value. The addition of Rally focused races is also a welcome addition. This is hands down the best open world racer and I've played them all regardless of platform. The game is also incredibly polished and bug free. I have yet to have a single issue in well over 100 hours except a single crash due to pushing the overclock on my gtx1080 too far. Last but not least this game runs significantly better than fh3 or fm7 on lower spec machines so you can hit 60+fps with higher settings or resolution.

I'm playing this game on the Xbox one X and it is easily the most stunning looking game I've ever seen. I honestly can't wait for it on PC too. It's good enough to buy twice. The gameplay is everything red dead redemption was but it's been expanded significantly and there are more rpg and almost sim like elements added on top. The games audio is also excellent. Rockstar has stopped themselves once again with a massive number of authentic sounds and music that fits the situation you're in perfectly. The game is also incredibly polished and bug free. I have yet to have a single issue in well over 40 hours

The game isn't horrible but it isn't exactly good either. The controls are very arcade which is fine but for some reason despite the arcade roots you can't really drift. If you hit the ebrake you not only slow down way too fast but you also easily lose control because the car behaves in an odd way physics wise. You can also ignore the driving line in most cases. Just because it says you need to brake doesn't mean you do which can be confusing so I suggest getting the control down as best as possible and then shut the driving line off. The graphics and audio are decent with the graphics being better than the audio. The cars have enough detail as do the tracks but things like smoke and particles effects are basically missing. There are also menu errors, for example if you set options to show MPH instead of kph it will display properly in a race but in the menus it will only show kph. Load times are a bit long consider each race generally lasts 1-2 min which is far too short. There are tons of events, over 400 in fact but they reuse assets constantly and again the race itself may be over in literally 1 min. The longest race I've had so far was 3min 12 seconds. If you absolutely NEED a new racing game and the switch is your only place to game then go ahead and buy it despite it being over priced there aren't many options for racing games right now. However if you have any other platform, even mobile you should think twice. This is a port of a mobile title and it shows but what really hurts is the $50 price tag. So I'm giving the game a 5 which to me means it's average. I'm not IGN where 7 is average lol. 5/10 is a fair score for this title. There is fun to be had but don't buy it expecting it to compete with any other console or pc racing game on the market. If the game was $15-20 I'd give it a 7/10 but for $50 it's kinda lucky I didn't give it a 4. Buyer beware.

My biggest issue with this game and at this point the series is that promised features from the original still aren't here, there are bugs in this game that not only were in pcars1 but also Need for Speed Shift which they also developed and alot of code is shares despite the years difference between release. There is alot of potential here but it just missed the mark on too many levels. I hear praise about the physics but take one of these cars out on the track and you will find even basic physics quite different. The selection of vehicles and lack of customization hurts more than anything and when tuning a vehicle it doesn't always behave as it should. The visuals are good but glitchy at times and not very well optimized unless you are on the 10 series of Nvidia hardware or the Vega series from AMD but based on their visual quality previous generations of gpus should be fine...just look at the console version. I'm also quite offended that Ian Bell the head of SMS literally bought off websites for good coverage. Don't believe me? Go to **** and look through the articles. Ian Bell pays off anyone he can so unless it's a big site like Eurogamer then chances are the review isn't exactly honest. He does the same with YouTubers and then we have the people who work at SMS that run out to various forums and sites like this to post positive coverage. That doesn't count against my score but it should. Skip this and wait for something better... trust me it won't be hard to find.

Uncharted 4 is a game that i find hard to put a score to. Its obvious alot of time and attention went into making it. Its one of the best looking games around really only matched by tomb raider and Doom 2016. The sound design and voice acting is also excellent. This is a very story heavy game. Its about 65% story delivered via cinema and in game moments and about 35% gameplay. What i mean by gameplay is the actual shooting and puzzle solving i do not include the walking or driving around for 10 min listening to dialog. Yes its gameplay but its basically walking simulator gameplay. The shooting is much improved over previous entries but the exploration is still far too easy and obvious. You always know where Nathan needs to go and what he needs to do. He also climbs 1000% faster than the assassins in assassins creed. Nathan Drake is the strongest most limber man alive and the speed at which he climbs around kind of kills immersion because its incredibly unrealistic. I can easily forgive gameplay shortcomings but my main issue with this game is i just dont care. I dont like any of the **** all nor do i care about their quest. In The Last of Us i was motivated by the characters and story but here im just pushing myself through because i paid $60 and dont want it to be a waste. Naughty dog can do charcters well but for some reason here i just cant get invested and since there are so many cutscenes it drives me crazy. The game just moves too slow when it doesnt really need to. It so doesnt help that every enemy encounter is pretty much the same and the AI is very dumb.

I think remedy has once again proven themselves leaders of the lack when it comes to storytelling and gameplay. Quantum Break starts slowly and with a hint of mystery and steadily builds in both story tension and pace over the course of the entire game. The visuals are great at 60fps if you have a machine that can max it out. Thats not to say its perfect as there are still kinks that need to be worked out with dx12 and the uwp platform but overall the game is no slouch. I ran it on a 290x paired with a 5820k and 16 gigs of ddr4 without any issue. Im quite confident remedy will be updating the pc version in the near future to further improve the visuals as well but people need to understand dx12 is new and older hardware will struggle especially older nvidia hardware and cpus that have less than 4 cores AND CANT multi thread. the sound design and vocal performances are also phenomenal. Gameplay is also absolutely on point. Alan Wake was somewhat of a let down in the gameplay dept as it never evolved over time (no pun intended) but Quantum Break keeps changing as you move forward. You gain new abilities and you level up those abilities. There is tons of story in this game. Finding emails or objects not only add to the in game story and fill in some history and motivations they also alter the live action scenes you watch so not everyone will see the same thing every time. How much of the story and what story you get are entirely up to you. These story objects are easily tracked in the menu and you can go back to any point in the game to find something you missed or do something in a different way. Overall a fantastic game that I can see myself playing multiple times. I rated the xbox version a 9 and knocked a point off on pc because of the current lack of visual options however i believe that will change soon. I also believe alot of people are scoring it too low on visuals and performance because they have issues running it. Its very likely those issues are their own machines and not the games. Again currebt nvidia hardware struggles with dx12 and amd doesnt. Alot of gamers are also running core i5's which cant multithread abd dx12 relies on as many fast threads as possible. Thats where its performance gains lie so be aware of that fact when buying. If your pc is up to snuff you will have no issues and the game will look good and run fantastic.

I have no issue with the walking simulator genre itself provided it tells a good story but this story is awfully generic. Based on professional reviews you would think it was written by Shakespeare. That is not the case. The "gameplay" itself is nothing more than walking, finding notes and keys and hearing things read to you. If you go super slow and look everywhere... Every possible corner the game might take an hour to finish. There isn't $10 worth of quality story here let alone $20. The visuals aren't exactly ground breaking either nor is the audio so I'm not quite sure why the game released for $20. If the game was $5 I'd say go ahead and buy it but any higher and you are wasting your time and money. Luckily with steams refund policy you can return it after completion... If you can manage to suffer long enough to make it that far. There are ways to make "games" like this interesting. This developer did none of those things. Even that could be completely ignored if the story was compelling or even half way decent but you can find better stories on internet forums that are more artistically satisfying as well as free I bought this game on the day it came out based on what was certainly purposefully misleading information from what was at the time an independent gaming site that I had trusted more than any other. It was strongly insinuated that this was some type of horror title but it was never outright spoken in the name of "spoilers". The way they played and spoke and where they stopped was misleading to the point where I no longer trust a word this " journalist " writes and he's only gotten more deceptive since. .

Its pretty simple really. Forza is an amazing racing game with incredibly deep customization options. It has an excellent sim physics engine originally designed by Microsoft for auto insurance companies and the police to simulate driving conditions in accidents and to rate cars for insurance quotes. The engine is insanely complex and as far as sim racing games go it is top notch. Ive heard lots of people say it isnt on par with Gran Turismo which is beyond untrue. Anyone who has ever had any experience racing fast cars can tell you Forza is very accurate in the way cars perform. The simulation engine is complex enough to measure airflow around side skirts which is just unheard of in games. Everything matters, even tire tread depth from wear. If your vehicle gets damage and there is a dent on the bumper you can pull up vehicle telemetry and see how its effecting airflow and thus speed/handling. You wont find that in any other game. Forza may not be the prettiest racing game ever created. Its own developers admit to this fact. They have said from day 1 that the physics simulation is more important than just pretty graphics so most of the system resources are being put to use making sure cars drive like cars. That being said Forza 3 is no visual slouch and can easily hold its own with other games. It is by no means ugly. Currently its being compared on a visual level with Gran Turismo 5. Owning both games I can say neither game looks better than the other. For example GT5's premium cars(200 total) look better than Forza's cars. However the standard cars (of which there are 800) look worse than anything in Forza 3. Forza also has higher quality lighting and makes better use of HDR. It also has far better shadows than GT5 but GT5 has better smoke and particle effects. In terms of tracks that are about equal. If you are looking for an amazingly deep racing sim this is the game for you. If you are a casual fan this is still the game for you. You can get pretuned cars, you can turn steering and braking assists on and following the driving line. Anyone can play this game and have fun. Even someone who justs like designed complex paint schemes can have fun making cars and selling them. Me? How do I play? I sit in my Playseats Evolution Forza 3 special edition racing chair. My MS FF racing wheel mounted to it. I shut the music off and turn car effects to 100% and i race. This game is nothing short of amazing!

Halo: Reach

Bungie's Halo swan song is a perfect example on how to do first person shooters right on a console. They took everything they have learned since the first Halo on the original Xbox, and a ton of fan feedback and crafted not only the best Halo game but also one of the best console games this generation. The single player has a good story with improved cinematic direction over past games. Bungie is really starting to get good at visually telling a story. The graphics have been improved greatly. Not only all the maps huge and very complex but they are also highly detailed with some truly impressive lighting and particle effects. Texture for texture Halo Reach isnt the best looking game on consoles but when you consider the size of everything, the indoor outdoor shifts, map complexity, all the effects and all the action thats going on it really is quite impressive what bungie has done and this is easily one of the overall prettiest games to grace any console. The sound design is nothing short of incredible. There is so much variety in ambient noise and weapon effects it puts even Halo 3 to shame. The score is once again a masterpiece that is far and above better than any other games out there. If there is one thing Bungie does better than anyone else its audio and Halo Reach is a shining example. The campaign in Reach is arguably the best in the series. Its about 10 hours on normal difficulty and it has the same options as Halo 3 in terms of the scoring system, coop etc. The new armor abilities open up a range of new tactical options and the semi non linear action zones in the maps only add to the fun. If you have played and enjoyed a Halo game you know what to expect. Of course it feels like Halo, if it didnt then it wouldnt be the series so many love. If you arent a fan of past games chances are you wont be a fan of this one. There are a number of changes to weapons and there have been tweaks to gameplay so you should give it a chance but dont expect it to feel like a new series. They tweaked things like running speed, jump height, fall damage etc and the AI has been made far more complex and far more cunning. For example I was having an issue killing a grunt, he kept running away and hiding behind cover. He was slowly leading me down a hallway with lots of corners, I figured he was just being a classic grunt and running away only stopping every once and a while to shoot or toss a grenade. Little did I know he was playing me for the **** lead me directly into an ambush where I was quickly killed by a combination of 5 elites and some jackals. This was on normal difficulty. The AI gets much more difficult with a host of new tactics when you play on Legendary. The mutliplayer in Reach is nothing short of amazing. Once again Bungie has designed some of the best maps on any platform. They are all perfectly balanced with multiple gametypes. If you like competitive shooters its pretty much a given that you will find some fun in Halo online. Bungie has added unlocks via credits earned from matches. Thankfully (imo) they didnt go the call of duty route where perks make you more powerful. In Reach you unlock visual upgrades that give you a unique look and nothing more. I think its better this way. It gives you something to earn and play for but it doesnt unbalance the game. I never liked how COD would reward higher skill players by making them more powerful. I meant for this to be a quick first review but I have failed. Some how my thoughts may seem disjointed and im jumping around. This is due to lack of sleep since I cant stop playing Reach any chance I get which means im up incredibly late to play and I wake up super early for work. You owe it to yourself, no matter what console you prefer or own to at the very least try everything this game has to offer. Its an enjoyable experience single player and multiplayer and thats not even including the awesome forge mode and firefight.
