Great art direction; minions are funny cute, & funny; some puzzle elements; thoughtful map design. At first i thought the characters and the setting was bland. The main anti-hero you play is just called "overlord" and you're just on the side of "evil," but as the plot advances, things get more nuanced than that. i definitely want to applaud the devs for the great storytelling that was fresh and thought-provoking. after i finished it, i had to sit and reflect on how easily good can be corrupted. i did get stuck couple of times and had to look up a walk-through, and it would have been nice to have an in-game map (the printed out map that comes with the box version of the game is pretty much useless.) If it's on sale on steam, definitely check it out (I didn't play the expansion, but i think it's suppose to add additional areas to all the maps, so wouldn't hurt to get that too if you want to just a single run-through both). I played this with a xbox360 controller and it worked great.

Pros: This game is about the freedom of movement. The feeling you get when you're in that loop of running, jumping, and noticing the next obstacle, and keeping up that momentum, is like nothing else. I would recommend that you only use the hints if you get stuck, because exploring and finding your way is half the fun. The devs have fixed the combat as well, and ties combat with your movement. The graphics are gorgeous and the game ran smoothly. The game is quite forgiving if you fall and the load times aren't that bad, which encourages exploration and makes some of the trial-and-error parts not too painful. Cons: I wish the city was a little more populated, and the NPC AIs are a bit unrealistic and lifeless. There was too much back tracking at first, but later on you can skip around to different bases. Boy, i do hope there's another sequel. Maybe in another 8 years?

Great systemic, emergent gameplay. I love the take on the horror space station setting; the characters are multi-dimensional and interesting; the plot is entertainingly twisted; the enemies are challenging but fair. I'd love to sink another 40 hours into it again if I had the time.

Beautiful graphics, charming story, frustration-free gameplay. I dislike point & click adventure games that make you hunt for a pixel or combine everything in your inventory with everything else. In Silence, the game gives you plenty of environmental clues, textual clues, as well as pointing out which objects in the environment are interactable. I'm sure the point & click purists will complain about 'dumbing it down', but there's a reason that kind of gameplay is not popular anymore. Overall, highly enjoyable few hours!

Beautiful to look at and listen to; frustrating to play. I really want to like this game - it has a very unique & appealing art direction, quirky macabre sense of humor, the inimitable Sir Patrick Stewart's superb voice talents, and the fun sound track. However, as a puzzle games, it falls short on many different ways. For instance, it's hard to tell how long of a shadow an object will cast. And does it vary over different levels? I think it does, but couldn't be sure. This is even more problematic because the environment will cast shadows too, but then it's even MORE uncertain how long the shadows will be at a glance. Also, items that can be picked up are too hard to tell apart from static objects, and it's uncertain which objects can be stacked on top of others and where. The flags are problematic as well, as it's hard to tell where its shadows will land, especially when they change positions. There are numerous problems like these that makes it hard to play.

There is a lot to like here. The game looks amazing on 1080p with everything turned to highest setting. The models are cartoony, animate beautifully, and the textures/shaders are oh-so-gorgeous. Underlying this shiny exterior is this delicious core of solid team-based gameplay. The co-op mode can get pretty intense and hectic, as waves of zombies come at your garden from every which way. The team deathmatch definitely awards the team that plays and coordinates together. The only thing i wish this game had was a split-screen and/or a LAN option or at least bots to play against. I'm sure at some point in the future the servers will go down, and this being a multiplayer-only title, it will be unplayable without the servers. A split-screen mode would have ensured that this game would still be playable - and some consumers may be hesitant to buy a game that won't be playable at an unknown date in the future. About the sticker pack system. Hey i understand - it's a business, and you don't have to pay a dime for the stickers if you don't want to. And if having it in the game keeps the light on (or the servers online), then I'm all for it. Plus, there are plenty of servers that run the game mode where unlocks aren't used, so you don't have to feel like it's a pay-to-win type ****.

cute puzzle game! great tutorial levels, and the levels gradually increase in difficulty. (some of the later ones were super hard!) the pc version has pretty cool effects too (i also got the android version, not sure if it was because i got it on one of the bundles?). pretty original gameplay concept. i should pick up the second one at some point. definitely check it out if you like puzzle games! i don't understand some of the negative reviews below this... the concepts are pretty simple to figure out... and new mechanics are introduced every few levels, so i wouldn't call it repetitive... go back to playing Call of Duty 10?

it's the plot! and the quirky drawings! same as the first game; the puzzles are easy, the game is short, and there's no replay value. it's $10 on steam right now, so for a budget-conscious gamer, it might not be worth getting (that's $5 an hour!). but if it's on sale, definitely check it out!

Puzzles in this game are actually pretty simple and not challenging at all, but the plot is really good. you might finish it in one sitting just to find out what happens next. it's a pretty short game (1~2 hours) and low replay value, it's $5 currently on steam, so i don't know if i can recommend it for that price because it's so short, but if you can grab it on steam sale, definitely worth checking out.

fun new mechanics, great voice-acting, funny dialog... am i the only one who almost cried at the ending song? and the sense of freedom that makes you reflect on life... this is the pinnacle of interactive experience folks. haven't tried any of the custom made maps, but that's just a bonus. i'm going to try to get my fiancee to go through the co-op with me. wish me luck!

this games pretty fun and addictive. whenever i want to goof off for 5 minutes i just fire it up; challenges are fun if it isn't your turn, and you can always find a random opponent. the only gripe i have is the lack of full screen mode, and my netbook can't play it because of the lower resolution. plus i'm not forced to buy the other tribes b/c all the tribes are pretty well balanced.

ah, spiderweb games. i remember playing the shareware versions when i was a wee little kid and finding them so very addictive and rewarding. after buying avadon, i fired it up hoping for the same magical experience. but i was sorely disappointed. i stuck with it for around ~15 hours, but i couldn't get over all its flaws and just gave up. yes, the graphics aren't the prettiest, but that's not why you play spiderweb games. the real flaw, for me, was the execution; everything felt dumbed-down, including the combat mechanics and the spelled-out plot. i do applaud the developer for the inter-party dialogues and the side-quests that do flesh-out each character, ala mass effect, but i didn't enjoy that gameplay itself, which just made it painful to play through. in the end, i couldn't plow-through with nostalgia and sheer willpower alone; i didn't find it enjoyable and decided to stop playing. maybe if this is your first time with a spiderweb game in which case you might really like it. but if you've played other games from the dev in the past, i'd suggest skipping this particular one.

Usually i'm not a big fan of 3rd person open world action games. I tried to get into GTA4 and it felt polished and everything, but just... empty and choices felt meaningless. and as soon as i found out that i couldn't put out fires with the firetruck or rescue people with ambulance or grab a cab off the street to earn money through cab fares, which were all available in GTA3, i couldn't get myself to continue playing. what's more, i could run over pedestrians, i could kill randomly and it all just felt meaningless. But Saboteur! yes the climbing mechanic is SLOW and repetitive, but thankfully you don't need to do too much of that. Oh, and the world feels more alive! I actually cared about the civilians and wanted to rescue them when they were being harassed by **** soldiers. I actually didn't want to jack any car I saw on the street. The perks were fun and free-play objectives are addictive, but the best part of this game and why i keep playing it is that this game made me care about its citizens. and for a 3rd person open world action game, that's a rarity. Choices that matter, not just choices for the sake of having them that's what makes game worlds come alive.
