Bit late to the party but just got this game for cheap during a Steam sale. Firstly, I played and enjoyed the first Darksiders but this game is radically different. They are both hack n slash games but this game seems to have something of an identity crisis. It wants to play the roles of both RPG and hack n slash and its weaker because of it. The story feels a bit pointless and you always seem to be sent on quests of 3 (that is kill 3 things, bring back 3 things, activate 3 things etc etc...). As much as I want to like this game I could only play about half way through before getting tired of it.

Don't get me **** is a beautiful game. Great scenery, great combat effects and character models. However, beauty isn't enough to salvage this game. While the game touts being F2P the truth is that unless you are a subscriber you will pretty much always have a handicap. The servers are full of botters and gold sellers and Trion either doesn't care or doesn't have the resources to stop them. This game had a ton of potential but its ultimately a bomb. One is better off just sticking to WoW...

The game itself is pretty awesome. It has all the best bits of Supreme Commander with an interesting concept thrown in. Unfortunately this is seriously under minded by its horrendous performance issues. The game eats up RAM like its going out of style which leads to crashes. The devs response to such issues is pretty much "Its probably your fault, not ours." You basically need to jump through hoops to get this game to perform moderately well. Quite frankly, its not worth the time or the money. So do yourself a favor and just play Supreme Commander if you are craving a massive RTS.

This is a great **** you have friends to play it with you. The mission's I've played with pugs have to be some of the worst in my entire experience. You can get kicked for nothing and people leaving games at a whim is becoming an epidemic. But if you have some buddies to play with, the game becomes 100% better. The jobs are recycled but you can go for harder difficulties which offer greater rewards but more risk. Pulling off an incredibly hard job is a great feeling. So if you have a couple friend who will play this game with you then its definitely worth it. Otherwise I'd suggest giving this game a pass. There is a single player mode but no real story to speak of and the AI is awful. More often a hindrance than a help.

After playing the game the last couple months I feel I have a good enough idea about the game to give an informed review. Hopefully by this time all the haters have hated and the fanboys have spurted their collective juices all over the game so we can start getting more honest reviews. Let's start with gameplay. Combat in the game is done through telegraphs so you can see where your attack will hit and just have to make sure the enemy is in that little cone/box/etc so they will receive damage. Healing tends to work the same way for most classes so just change "enemy" to friend and "receive damage" to healing. The combat isn't bad by any means. It can make for some really intense combat depending on your foe and each battle feels like it moves at a good pace. The problem for me was in PVP since you can see the enemy player's telegraphs you end up getting swamped with them. Battles tend to devolve into whoever can spam the most. In terms of the leveling up process, I felt this was one of Wildstar's weaker points. Quests are essentiallythe same fetch/kill x amount quests that we have seen from games like WoW. More so than that is though is that the storylines for each quest are pretty forgetable. You have some quest chains that can leave you with a smile but none of them were particularly memorable or felt really significant. Towards the end of my leveling I was pretty much just accepting and completing quests without really paying attention to the quest dialogue. Graphic wise the game has some really lovely visuals and landscapes. The characters have a cartoony look to them but I think that adds to the game's charm. Its a game that doesn't take itself to seriously in many **** cartoony feel accentuates some of the whacky situations the player will get themselves in. End game was sort of the deal breaker for me. Needless to say, without a guild or at least some friends who are somewhat competent end game is a nightmare. If you want to raid you basically have to go on one huge grindfest. You can run the veteran dungeons (harder modes of each dungeon) with pugs but that gets pretty hit and miss since most players seem to leave after the first wipe. Another problem that Wildstar faces is that its overall playerbase has dwindled a bit since launch and servers aren't as full as they once were. This adds to the problem since it makes que times kinda long. Also it **** if your faction doesn't happen to be the dominant one on your server. Carbine made it clear that Wildstar was going to cater more towards the hardcore playerbase and they have certainly kept their word. End game is challenging but as I said it can be a grind. So casual players steer clear of this one! I expect this game to pick up some steam again once balancing has been done and the inevitable server merges happen. Maybe then I'll check this game out again. Until then I'll stick to the "filthy casual" games.

This expansion is probably the best thing to happen to D3 in a long while. It fixed many issues in the game and it made it feel fun again. However, there are some key issues with it. For one, its pretty damn short. The price tag on it is $40 but you only get about $10 worth of play time in the story mode. The rest comes from replaying as well as the new adventure mode which is basically just running around dungeons killing bosses for rewards. Same as story mode without having to worry about cut scenes and the like. The expansion adds the new Crusader class to the list. Its a Strength based character that tends to lean more towards a tank than anything else. Its not terrible and the dialogue written for it is pretty entertaining. The other classes receive one new attack ability and a few passive ones. The level cap is up to 70 so it gives you something to work towards. With the revamps to loot as well as enemies being based on player level as opposed to game difficulty it makes the dungeon crawl a lot easier. However, this expansion feels a bit puny and may deter the more "hardcore" players since getting the best loot is not terribly difficult anymore. Plus its still always online which probably won't go away for a long time (if ever).

I typically don't like to give zeros because I usually believe that a game can have redeeming qualities. This game really has none. Its barely a game with ripped off graphics. I gave it the best shot I could but there are better ways one could pass the time (like swallowing a pinecone whole).

I've been playing this game for years now. Gotta say without a doubt that its one of the best FPS games made to date. Sure it doesn't have the "realism" of games like Call of Duty or Battlefield but it makes up for that with smooth and engaging gameplay. The devs have been great about keeping the game updated and fresh. True, many will point out that the current game is nothing like the game when it first came out. The addition of hats and new weapons completely turned the game upside down. However, as crazy as it may seem right now, the changes have kept this games community thriving and has made fresh could've gone stale years ago. Kudos Valve for this masterpiece!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
8
User Scorece111
Feb 7, 2014
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is, at its core, a sequel to the much older A Link to the Past. The map has all the familiarity of the old game but with much updated graphics. To say its a simple copy and paste job is inaccurate as there are still quite a bit of changes to the game. The story starts out as the typical LoZ game does, with a young man named Link who is a bit lazy and yet has a great destiny ahead of him. The bad guy does bad stuff and Link must stop him and save Hyrule. The difference is that you are also able to transport to another world called Lorule. Traveling between the two worlds is essentially for completing certain puzzles and plays a large role in the story. The gameplay is pretty standard. Boss fights are pretty simplistic and even on its hardest difficulty (unlocked after beating the game) its still pretty easy. There is quite a bit more emphasis on exploration than in past games since you don't really need to complete any of the dungeons in any particular order. The game doesn't seem to feel the need to rush you through the story so you can set your own pace. For example, I spent many mores hours on the game than required because I wanted to do as many of the side quests as I could stand. At the end of the game, I had all the best gear and as many heartpieces as you could get. To summarize, this is a great game for LoZ fans. Its relatively tame manner and simplistic gameplay make it playable by even the most inexperienced video game player. It falls a bit short in that there isn't a whole lot of variety to it as there was in past games. Also its incredible easy so those who are looking for a challenge may wish to hurry through the game.

Loadout

User Scorece111
Feb 7, 2014
Fast paced and gritty, Loadout is a run and gun filled with crazy guns and crude humor. The gameplay in Loadout has a very Quake/Unreal Tournament feel to it in that you are almost constantly moving and accuracy is something of an after thought. You play from a third person viewpoint so you can see around corners and such a lot easier. Not that it makes much difference since you will pretty much be sprinting your butt off for most of the match. The game is free to play with an in game market that is purely for cosmetic items. Definitely not a pay to win type of game. All items that affect the actual game can be bought with resources that you earn from gameplay. Guns can be customized in crazy ways. Want a shotgun that heals you friends? Done. How about a gun that shoots spiked metal guns at are electrified? Done. While you start out with fairly basic items, they can quickly be customized to fit your play preferred playstyle. There are several different game types. Each which add a fun twist on familiar concepts (for example, the flag in CTF is a giant hammer that can kill enemies). Right now, the only downer is the lack of maps. Right now you a bit limited since certain other modes are unavailable right now. The reason this game didn't score higher is that, while it has its fun moments, it also gets boring kind of quickly. The run and gun type of gameplay will give you a rush at first but after you figure out most of the game mechanics and see the loadouts that other players have you start to get a feel for what are the best mixes and matches in terms of weaponry. The game is also in desperate need of a tutorial that teaches players the objectives of the different game types. Too many maps has my team lost because most of them don't understand the overall objective of the game and instead just go for kills. Also, the feel to the community is turning a bit toxic since lots of the "good" players would rather berate teammates with insults and underhanded comments. All in all, the game is at the least worth a try since its free but don't set your expectations too high. You find a game with a lot of action, gore, and nudity (albeit censored but rather poorly at that) but very little else. Its a bit of a hit and miss game. I'll probably play periodically from now on but probably not dedicate too much time to it.

If you want a game that is a fast paced, high adrenaline, explosionfest than this game is not for you. However, if you want a strategic, board game styled game set in the Warhammer 40k universe than you may want to think about picking this one up. Pros: The game has a highly strategic element to it. Especially in the multiplayer games. Also, the multiplayer games are designed so that you can play your turn, leave the game and come back later once your opponent has moved; perfect if you have a laggy internet connection. The game is simple enough that even a new player to the Space Hulk series will be able to pick it up. The HUD is fairly straight forward and easy to understand and the tutorial is efficient and thorough. Cons: The $30 price tag is a bit much considering how little content is really in this game. A lot of the bells and whistles that have come from the 40k franchise in the past have spoiled a lot of us and thus this game seems rather lacking in the customization and personalization department. The campaign is short and there are still quite a few bugs. Conclusion: It may be best to wait until this game goes on sale or more content is added. However, if you are a hardcore fan of Space Hulk than you should definitely check this game out. The graphics are a bit on the low side but since this is from a smaller dev it isn't such a big deal.

I'm in love with this game! A great improvement from the previous game! Its not a game that you can play for hours in one sitting since you will run out of things to do but that is, in my opinion, part of its charm. I look forward to playing it every day so that I may do new things and continue to improve the town! Also, I find it a refreshing change of pace from many other games out there that are primarily about violence. In this game the most violent thing that happens is getting stung by bees(and thats only if you shake the tree their hive is in so you kind of deserve it...). So whether you are a fan of the series or just want a fun, family friendly game to play, this one is definitely a winner.

Fun and simple but with some very interesting mechanics. The game doesn't take itself too seriously and the story is more of a parody of noir style movies than anything else. At the same time it does have some witty lines(all dialogue is text). The graphics are reminiscent of 2d side scrollers but are still rather high quality. The game is short though and while you can replay each level there aren't any additional rewards for doing so (you will pretty much get every power up before the game is over). Hopefully there is more to come though since this game rocks! Its at a very reasonable price and it really shows that a huge budget doesn't guarantee a great game.

The game is somewhat decent (especially for a free to play MMORPG) on the surface but once you put a little more time into it you soon start to see some issues with it. First of all the combat has a much more grinding quality than I've seen in other MMOs. The combat feels more like a chore than a major part of the game. The camera angles are terrible and give off the feeling that the devs don't want you admiring the view, so to speak. Animations are choppy even on highest graphic settings. The style of the game was another thing that rubbed me the wrong way. There is very little customization and everyone essentially ends up looking like some pre-teen protagonist in a generic anime. The voice acting in the game is horrendous, many of the voices just DO NOT fit the characters that are speaking them. I played RO1 so I understand the style of the game but it just comes off as cheap and silly in a 3d environment. The biggest complaint I have is how the game seems to push paying real money. I get that its F2P and they want to still make some money but c'mon... making people pay to respec your skills points? That is just asinine. I wanted to like this game since I have rather fond memories of RO1. But when you compare it to games like Guild Wars 2 and even the dreaded World of Warcraft you start to see that it really does fall short, even for a F2P game.

Mass Effect 3

User Scorece111
Mar 11, 2012
I'll start off by saying that I am a big fan of the Mass Effect series. I was fairly pleased with the majority of the storyline and dialogue in this game. The tone of this game is a lot more grim than the previous two games but I feel that is appropriate given the circumstances. Sometimes the voice acting can get a bit cheesy and some of the situations seem like they were ripped from a bad action movie. The game play has had some tweaks and combat feels a bit more tuned. There are still bugs galore though and the AI still seems terrible despite claims of upgrades to it. Most bugs aren't extremely noticeable; heck sometimes they are downright funny but then you get the really frustrating bugs such as getting stuck and having to restart. Those bugs are one reason why this game lost a point. Another reason is how it seems that the events of the previous two games don't seem to have made as big a difference as I thought they would. Pretty much all of the key character's from the previous games make an appearance. Some are a big more significant than others but its certainly nice to see. The biggest problem I had with it was the ending. Its as though they were driving along on the nice little path of a storyline and then decide to just blindfold the driver at the end and hope for the best. The endings all make very little sense and just create more loose ends than they tie up. Hopefully we see more content in the future that makes things a bit more clear but until then I feel very disappointed with how the game ends. A little obscurity isn't necessarily a bad thing since it is nice to have the fans piece together certain aspects. But when the fans are left feeling cheated then its clear that something isn't quite right. So in closing, its not a terrible game by any means but it certainly isn't the game that the Mass Effect series deserves. For all the lore and background of the series very little of it is truly represented and the game feels more like an action game than a sci-fi roleplaying game.

Not a bad game by any means. It won't win game of the year or anything but it is enjoyable. It does feel a bit too short and multiplayer is a bit lame right now but hopefully some tweeks to it are on the way. The game feels violent and gritty, as it should. The camera angles are a bit crappy and certainly elements of the game feel a bit forced. Not to mention that the voice acting is pretty bad but then again this game really isn't about the story. In my opinion, this game is a fine addition to the Warhammer 40,000 IP.
