I really enjoyed this. I've always been a fan of Mariska and her role on SVU. This was a very interesting look into the tragedy and residual effects on a family. She did an amazing job directing this. Just a solid documentary.

I have zero idea how John Krasinski got involved with this film. His character is completely unlikeable and illogical with flawed motivations. The story is a muddled mess and none of the characters, save the kid actually have any redeeming value.

A movie that wants to be a heist film, a comedy, a drama, and whatever else they can throw in, but fails utterly at all of them. The jokes are flat, there is no real action sequences and the attempted drama elements lack true character development. I love Matt Damon and I know he usually is the bar for revenue return, but this film relegates itself to the B movie stack.

I have only Dune as a recent movie on the scope/scale to compare. Dune is able to build character depth, build lore, while balancing action. This movie does none of that well at all. For gods sake stop using slow motion for everything. It's not a thing beyond something to highlight a tense segment of action. No one wants to watch fights in slow-mo.

This is now my favorite Predator film behind the original. I loved the film and appreciated the tension built throughout. The focus on how brute strength isn't going to win the day, calls back to the original as well. Cast was great and you can never go wrong with some tomahawk action in a film. The sound design was also spectacular. When the tomahawk would sink into a tree, you could feel the wood creak in the audio.

Charmless Hollywood setting. This film lost all of the charm that made the original great. Of course Disney has to choose Hollywood as the setting, because that's where every small town dreamer needs to go. Lost in tropes and without any real soul.

Don't believe the critics. If you like Ghostbusters this movie is a worthy sequel. It has heart and the kids carry the film. I really enjoyed this film and thought it had the right amount of nostalgia, mixed with a new direction. Yes some things feel like a retread but I thought it was well done.

A few great ideas that could have been really interesting fall very short by trying to carry the weight of all the previous films. This feels like a retread (The Force Awakens) rather than a sequel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I've watched it six times already. I really enjoyed the choice to have a "nerd" character in the lead role for a change. I absolutely love Matthias' way of playing an every-man character. While I can tell some of the plot was simplified to make it move faster and it's still just a basic heist movie, I love the characters and I love getting more of the back-story on Dieter. I actually enjoyed this movie more than Army of the Dead. I thought the slow pacing of that film just drug the story out way too long. They could have done a bit more on the safes and made them more of a challenge on the safe-cracking. Other than the suspense of getting caught, the actual cracking of the safes was not that difficult. There could have been some tricks or some parts of the story that he forgets along the way, that made it more complicated.

I'm as conflicted on this film as the Harkonnen and Atreides are with each other. While I understand the Director is trying to initiate world building and plan for a multiple-film franchise, the golden rule is that each film has to stand on it's own. The pace of the film could have been a bit faster in some parts and a bit slower in others. For instance, we get a lot of time with Paul in that tent but the entire setup of the Atreides and the Spice Production was over in about 15 minutes. A few scenes cut to show the passage of some time and Leto getting reports of sabotage, broken equipment, and so forth could have been done in a way that covered that time more appropriately so it didn't feel rushed. A few cuts of Paul interacting with locals a bit more to establish this believe in Mahdi. Otherwise the first and second act feel a bit laborious and honestly leave the finale in the third act feeling rushed and instead leaving me with a fizzle. The fight at the end with the Fremen warrior was slow, and without tension whatsoever. In today's film landscape with high impact action films, if you're going to have a knife fight, it needs to be at or better than the best fight sequence out there, particularly for a budget of 165 million. Buatista and Zendaya's talents were wasted only serving as minor build-up to the next film. There were ways to include them to show the importance of both characters. So while I love the visuals and the modern digital impact on the cinematography, the story telling and character development (the best part of the Dune books) is still lacking somewhat. I mean Paul and his mother got quality time, but Leto felt empty and with a talent like Oscar Isaacs, that has to be a Direction issue. Overall I say a bit above mediocre. I'm hoping the next film is better, if it gets greenlit. This series will likely be evaluated as a whole rather than individual parts because thus far, the start is not what I'd hoped as an avid Dune fan.
