I still can’t understand how this game gets such high reviews. It’s by far the weakest 3D Super Mario ever made. Boring, repetitive, and soulless. Having to go through the same levels more than once is just painful. There’s no story, and it feels like a messy collection of random stages with no direction at all. Such a shame, because the first one was absolutely wonderful.
While Super Mario Galaxy 1 has aged really well — with its charming story, cozy atmosphere, and tons of heart — Super Mario Galaxy 2 feels like a random mix of levels thrown together with no real sense or soul. It doesn’t add anything new, and the lack of story makes it feel kind of empty. The motion controls are super outdated now, and replaying levels quickly becomes a chore. I didn’t play it back when it came out, and honestly, it’s hard to enjoy it today. Since the first game was already included in Super Mario All-Stars, my focus was on this sequel… but it really disappointed me. And considering it costs around 70€, I’m knocking off two points for that alone — it honestly feels like a bit of a rip-off.
Overrated. The story looks promising, but everything else makes it nearly impossible to enjoy. Gallica is unbearable and bossy, Strohl is the only somewhat likable character. The academy piano music is brain-draining, and the battle music is a nightmare with that guy ****. Dungeons are repetitive and really tough. And the graphics… they look like PS3 and are genuinely ugly. I'm a Persona fan, but after 20 hours, I quit.
I don't know if it has aged poorly, but this game is incredibly difficult to get into. While it initially seems interesting, following a mission order is impossible. The game doesn't distinguish between main and side quests. Many missions are above your current level, and the game doesn't provide any indication of this, leading to constant frustration and death. The Pip-Boy, or whatever it's called, is incredibly cumbersome to use and is essential for nearly every interaction. The weight limit is extremely restrictive, making inventory management a significant burden. Furthermore, the story fails to captivate from the outset, making it difficult to find motivation to continue playing.
Boring plot. Story is not interesting at all and it's not adding anything new. Repetitive scenarios and mechanics. Doesn't worth to play, even with the reduced price.
Even if the story is not bad, this game is boring. Amicia's mother is the dumbest character created for a videogame ever. Game is monotonous and boring. Amicia is complaining about everything 99,9% of the time, til the point that is annoying to play with her as the main character. And sorry, but I don't empathize with a annoying children who brought a plague to the world and he doesn't stop screaming the whole game. I don't feel like saving him (I'd rather kill him). Voices in English are not good, in Spanish even worst. Maybe good to play in french, bat it could be tedious if you are not a french speaker. I don't know where all the positive reviews are coming from.
