This game has a great turn based combat system, the graphics looks great for an isometric game and the story (that I've seen so far) is interesting. But there are two detrimental flaws that prevented me from finishing it. This game's enemies do not respawn, that means you have a finite amount of money and exp. If you did the wrong build, you're done, you have to start over. I dumped nearly 40 hours into the game, and I'm finally stuck and can not continue, the only option is to start over. The second thing is the inventory management aspect, if you're playing with a controller, inventory management is really bad. The good news Is that there's a respawning enemy mod for this game, so if anyone is reading this review, install this mod before you play, because it requires you to start a new save for the mod to work.

This game is a cheap cash in. They didn't do anything to modernize the game. The rubberband AI is horrible, the mission (especially the cop missions) are down to luck. If you get lucky, the AI will crash into other cars to allow you to take them out. Otherwise the AI cheats like a mofo, they can deploy more than 4 sets of spike strips, disregard cool downs, just generally cheat. There's no rewind like many modern arcade racing games, each restart forces you to watch the god damn unskippable burnout sequence, lengthening the time wasted at each restart. This game has not aged well and EA put no effort into remastering it. Avoid!

A true return of the series. This game brought back the excting dog fights and sci-fi story of the older AC games. While there are a few bombing and escort missions that were annoying, overall this is a great game. Worth play if you're an AC fan.

Xenoblade 2 is a massive disappointment! I loved the first Xenoblade, I was looking forward to playing this when it first released. After getting a Switch recently I can finally play this game. But it gets more and more frustrating the more I played. Keep in mind I did not finish this game, and I probably won't. I played up to chapter 6 and I pretty much had enough of the artificial limitations that was put in everywhere of the game. The random blade spawning is bs! The Affinity Chart is bs! Field Skills limitation is bs! The map and quest waypoint marker system ****! The blade spawning and Affinity Chart feels like they are taken from free-to-play games, maybe that was what Monolith was planning to do, where you can buy premium coins to get guaranteed rare blade crystals and affinity boosting items. But for whatever reason (maybe seeing the backlash at EA) they didn't implement that. So we're left with a system that was made tedious for the purpose of encouraging purchase but have no way of purchasing the premium items. I would rather they had the ball to put that into the game. The field skill gates doesn't even make any sense, they gate the side quests, which should be giving you field skill points. I was doing a rare blade quest and it requires Botany lvl 7, who would have that by going through a normal playthrough?! On another side quest I need to talk to an NPC, it requires Girl's Talk lvl 3 WTF?! How is even talking gated behind the fking field skills. So what I'm left if is just the main story, which was alright up to chapter 6. But now I'm stuck because all the enemies in the area I'm in suddenly became level 80 after a certain cutscene, so I need to either grind 20+ levels or stop playing. I think the choice is pretty easy. Before I played this I saw many older posts also mentioned this game was disappointing, but I didn't think it's that bad. It's like all the new stuff they added to this game was made for monetization, but they didn't actually go through with it. I rather they just put in 30 unique blades in the entire game (no random blades) you grind money to get it, none of this lootbox stuff. No Affinity Chart at all, blade skills should be manually chosen by the player (using up experience points). No field skill requirements, that should be completely scrapped. I know this is probably not realistic as that would pretty much be remaking the entire game's progression system. So I'll probably never finish this game.

These people need to go back to game design school to learn how to make a game that actually controls well. The controls are worse than mobile game. Every fight you're not fighting the enemy, you're fighting with the game's control. Skip the game, watch the cutscenes on YouTube.

As someone who have played AC since AC1. This game is a terrible disappointment. Let me get the positives out of the way first, the environment in this game looks beautiful, the map is huge. But that's about the only positive that I can think of for this game. Let's start with the bad, the revamped battle system is complete sht. They tried to copy Witcher 3's battle system, which is arguably the worst part of Witcher 3. It's slow, unresponsive, and generally not very fun to get into fights. The biggest issue with the fighting system is this, the enemies can dash backwards, you can't dash forward. So that means you have to walk forward slowly to attack, while the enemies can hit you at that time. So that made most of the melee weapons useless (other than as a finisher when the enemies are stunned). Did they even test play this system? How the f did it even get past testing? So for most of the game I resort to using bow and arrow. They also nerfed the hidden blade, now it'll only do maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the health of the mini bosses. In AC1 if you can time it perfectly you can one hit kill the final boss with a hidden blade counter! Now that's obviously too OP, but there's no reason to nerf the hidden blade this much. The leveling and experience gain also have issues. The exp you gain for kill enemies are very low, that's fine by itself. But they have made the game very level based, any enemies more than 3 levels higher you basically can't kill. So now I have to grind for exp. I'm sure this bs is put into the game to encourage people to buy their Time Savers Pack. I usually don't even mind grinding if the grinding feels natural, but this feels like they deliberately force you to grind (by nerfing the hidden blade) so you'll have to grind for levels. If you don't want to grind then you'll have to buy microtransactions. I think this is the last AC game for me. No more of this bs. I'll be waiting for the big gaming crash of these big publishers. When someone else can buy these IPs for cheap after they crash, they might start to make some good games again.

The user reviews are right, this game is still buggy, the missions are repetitive and poorly designed. Much of the user friendly feature from newer games are not here, there's no fast travel. Most missions do not have check poitns, so you spent 10 mins trying to steathly kill every cop and steal the car, but you get killed by the hit squad when driving the car back. Guess what? You'll get spawned at the quest giver's locaiton, all your work gone, but they somehow remember the ammo and items you use, so not only you wasted time, you also waste money/resource. This is just one of the example of how poorly designed this game is. I can see glimpse of fun here and there, but everytime I start to enjoy the game, something pull me right out. I have not finished the game, this is a review of about 8-10 hours of gameplay.

World of Final Fantasy6

The first 35 or so hours of this game is fantastic. If the game would've ended there, it would be an 8/10 game. The character designs are very cute (if you like Chibi style), and the voice acting (Japanese) is very good. But then they started to artificially lengthen the dungeons by basically copy and pasting the same thing over and over (Exnine Castle dungeon has 10 nearly identical maps you have to go through) and the final boss's difficulty spike is ridiculous. It took me 4-5 hours of walking in circles in Icicle Ridge to grind enough levels to finally beat it. This director also did Final Fantasy 13, so I can clearly see where the bad designs are coming from, I wish he would've learned from his previous game's shortcomings, but I guess not.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain6

Chapter 1 of this game is fantastic. While it's different from the previous MGS game in terms of mission structure, it's still has that MGS flare. The missions only got repetitive towards the end of Chapter 1. If this game ends at Chapter 1, this is easily an 8-9 game. However, Chapter 2 completely sours the experience for me. Chapter 2 is consists mostly of repeat missions, and the missions that are new are not well designed. The two true ending missions were truly disappointing. Chapter 2 is maybe a 4-5 experience, it felt like Kojima no longer had creative control at that point, Konami just hired any junior designer to finish the game up as quickly as possible. If you're a Metal Gear fan, I would say play this, but wait for a price drop. The story didn't add a lot to the Metal Gear overarching story.

The changes they made in this game is baffling. Why would you break every working mechanics in the previous games to include broken ones (other than to introduce Microtransactions to milk more money out of the players)? The free-run up and down doesn't work as well as the old free run, the weapon equip system is broken. I want to use my freaking hidden blade when I want to, not a damn context sensitive action. The sword needs to be mapped to a different button! Fck these guys, I have played every mainline AC game since one, this will be my last. I have played about 10 missions, not one of them is fun. WTF is wrong with letting the players play how they want? But no, they lock the upgrades to your armor to be ridiculously expensive so you either play with their broken stealth system (you no longer have unlimited Eagle Vision) or Pay Real Money to buy the upgrade. Well, I'm not going to do either. Ubisoft should refund every purchase of this game. This is a poorly designed, buggy, and greedy game. 1 star!

This game is awesome! I can't say anything about the story without spoiling it, so I won't. But the graphic is very good on PC maxed out (on i7 2600k, HD6970 2GB), while it's not Crysis 3 level, it's still pushing the UE3 to it's limits. Elizabeth's character is well written, and the dialogs you have with her throughout the game drives the story without feeling like an information dump. The combat is a step up from the Bioshock 1/2's combat, having the sky-hook rail is fun. Having the flying city as a backdrop makes the battles feel surreal. Overall, it's a must play!

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch8
Feb 16, 2013
I just beat the main story. It took me about 40 hours. The music is great, the art style is beautiful. The story is simple but it's charming in a way. It's refreshing to see an epic save the world journey without all the convoluted storyline. Now that is not to say the game doesn't have it's problems, I have three major problems that really bothered me during my time with the game. The combat doesn't pause while you're selecting an action using the D-pad. It causes you to take damage during action selection. You can get around this by using your right hand to select stuff on the D-pad while dodging enemy attacks with your left thumb, I eventually got used to this. Second issue is the grinding required to get through the main story. I was playing this blind but I had to grind 2-3 hours on the overworld to advance the story after each major boss battle. So I really suggest googling "how to grind toko in Ni No Kuni", it'll cut the grinding time in half, it makes the game much more enjoyable. The last complain is a design issue. For most of the game, they designed the save points in the dungeons very well, and after each boss fight you can go to your town of choice to resupply, but after a certain very difficult boss fight near the end, you aren't given a chance to resupply anywhere else but Ding Dong Dell (your starting city with crap supplies), it made the next three boss fights much more difficult that it has to be. Now that might makes the game sound like it's bad, but it's really not. If you take these archaic design choices in mind when playing, and avoid these pitfalls, this game could easily be 8.5 or higher for you. I would definitely recommend this game for JRPG fans.

The game mechanics in this game is severely flawed! I don't care how good the story is, the moment to moment gameplay is a torture. Who the f though binding the sprint, cover, and action button to the same key is a good idea?! I died countless times snapping into cover when trying to run away (and you get shot in cover too!). This game is a broken pos hiding behind it's story. AVOID!

This is the worst game in the series. I have more frustration than fun playing this. First is the performance, the texture pop-in is ridiculous in the city. Second thing is the counter system, the new counter system doesn't work, if I counter a guy with a hidden blade, it should be instant kill. Why the f can they counter me?! NO! Just no! The third thing is the main character, Connor is just some generic angry guy, Altair and Ezio were much better main characters. Fourth thing is the lack of customization, there's no armors to buy for Connor, combine that with the broken counter system, the combat is frustrating and not fun. Fifth and this is the reason that made me quit playing the game and give this game such a harsh score, the fking Thomas Hickey chase! I hope your bonus is tie in someway to Metacritic scores, whatever team that designed this mission, you deserve to get your bonus reduced for this damn mission! In all other AC games, you're a damn assassin, you run faster than the target you're chasing, but I've been playing for more than 15x, still Thomas Hickey runs faster, wtf?! This is with patch 1.01 btw, so if anything, the patch should've fixed well known issues like this. Don't buy this game, save your money and watch the ending on YouTube, that's what I plan to do. F this game.

This game is not Ace Combat, it's a freaking COD clone with planes. Regenerating health on a plane? Seriously?! Everything has been dumbed down to a mini-game, and yet it's incredibly frustrating to play. I hated the rail shooting section, I hated the bomber section, I hate they force you to go into the godamn ASM mode for ground bombings. There are no fictional planes, no memorable aces, no enemy radio chatter, no mid-air refueling. If you liked the previous AC games, you'll hate this one. If you like COD or BF3, then you'll love this.

I fell for EA's marketing trick again. This is the worst game that I've played in 2012, worse than FF13-2 by a mile. The boss fights are the most outdated, cheap and frustrating fights that I've played in a long time. I don't think I played a game that has this badly designed bosses since the PS2 days. The controls are cluncky, the hitboxes on the enemies are way to small. I stopped playing at 5-2 because I simply don't want to continue torturing myself. Don't bother playing this game.

This is the worst racing sim that I've ever played. The car physics is all wrong. The cars bounces around like they have blown shocks, there's massive steering lag on release (the community patch fixed quite a bit of that), the drift physics is bs for a sim game. The cars feels like they are skating on ice in drift mode. EA need to give the devs proper funding and time for development, and they should fire Slightly Mad Studio right now, their game engine is not good. EA needs to find someone talented to actually make a good physics engine from scratch. This is the only way they can compete with Forza and GT.

One word can describe this game, bullsh&t! The race structure is bs, you can't change cars at the beginning of each stage unless there's a gas station. The rubberband AI is bs, I'm driving 150mph and the police catches up at 300mph in their Ford Taurus, wtf?! The story is bs, this has a worse story than Undercover. The car's handling is bs, they are either on rails or slide all over the place, even fwd and awd **** only reason it got a 3 is for the graphics, the graphics is amazing, and it runs well on the PC. I would say this game is not even worth a rental. Just avoid.

Let's get the good out of the way. This game looks great, the weather effect is very nice, driving in the rain looked great. That's about it. Now on to the bad. WTF is wrong with the handling physics? TDU1's physics was fine, why did they felt the need to change it? Now all the cars are have lots of grip, and yet they understeer like a mofo. The controller support is way worse than TDU1. I have a Betop C033 controller, it was plug and play in TDU1. But in TDU1 I spent hours trying to get it to steer smoothly, the car still feels very twitchy at high speed. I even went back and drove some cars in TDU1 to refresh my memory. It's either bad handling physics or bad controller support, either way, it's a step down from TDU1. The new social stuff is not fun either. I don't care how my avatar looks like, I don't want to spend money on cosmetic surgeries. Atari, you need to understand that we enjoy the racing social aspect, you got your priorities all wrong. In a racing game, physics is the most important aspect, you neglected that to improve the social aspect? WTF?! I really wanted to like this game, TDU1 is probably the second most played racing game for me (Right behind the GT series), but I didn't enjoy TDU2 at all during the 5+ hours that I played. If you guys ever decided to make TDU3, hire the team that made the first game back, fire the team that made the second game.
