Ripper Street: Season 19
Oct 15, 2015
A clever twist on Police procedure shows, with an interesting mix of factual and literary influences. Good performances, well directed and writing that does not get dragged into overplaying the characters flaws, but makes them part of the story. It was a shame that the Beeb didn't think this worth keeping but thankfully it was taken up by Amazon and now the Beeb have bought it from them. Their are some little nuances in the production that outside of the UK may get missed, but the reverse is the same for shows airing their from other countries, this does not detract from the overall appeal of the show though. If you watch this thinking its about the Ripper you will be disappointed, but if you go into it knowing its just after those heinous crimes and is in the shock and aftermath left in London at that time, it works completely.

The Strain: Season 17
Oct 15, 2015
The premise behind the The Strains story is a good one, and DelTorro works it well, keeping up tension and pace to good effect. What does let it down though is the predictable nature of the main protagonists. To say they are 2 dimensional is a little harsh, but, and its something I can't quite decide on, its either the acting or the writers development of them that seems to leave them somewhat wooden. I get in a place where I am fascinated as to where the story is going, but can then easily win a bet as to how the characters will react or even what they will say. Overall though, worth watching.

Zoo: Season 10
Oct 13, 2015
This show has everything, inane plot, stupid non-sensical science, and wooden acting. Its good to see a show where the scenery and supporting animals move more than the actors. Just as an example of this stupidity, why would lightly furred bats with bald wings, not freeze and die near the south pole, when 2 heavily insulated clothed adult women, in a building freeze to death? CBS would be better directed funding a show on competitive Origami.
