Is it difficult? To some degree, yes. But it's also very fair. You're not intended to go full tilt, and if you do, you'll fail. Exploration and experimentation are the name of the game. Learn a course, repeat it, and keep trying to optimize and exploit paths. Believe it or not but this is very relaxing.

I consider myself to be an Isaac super fan. I've been playing since day 1 that Rebirth released, and have put in approximately 1700 hrs into the game across PC, PS4 and Vita. I've achieved 1000000% (full completion) on PS4 and continue to play regularly. I was very excited about this expansion and stayed up to play it the night it came out. Now 10 days later I've put 40hrs into the game and I've only won 2 out of about 50 runs. To put this into perspective on Afterbirth+ my win percentage was approximately 80%, and now it's dropped to 4%. This is an unreasonable difficulty increase. The enemies shoot faster and further, many items have been nerfed, and the item pool is further diluted with bad items. I like the design of the new bosses, there are many cool additions, and the amount of content is staggering, but none of this matters if the spirit and fun of the game has been drained. I no longer enjoy playing my favorite game of all time. Maybe you're now expected to reroll your run until you get a powerful item, but that's not how I play. I loved the randomness, and overcoming adversity, and if I lost, it felt like I just got a string of bad luck. Now, the game feels like it wants you to fail and it's being malicious. I'm going to go back to playing Afterbirth+ and in no way would I recommend getting this expansion.

The main character is annoying and childish, even though they are supposed to be a psychiatrist. The puzzles range from idiotically easy to completely obtuse. The controls for the puzzles aren't explained either. Terrible both as a puzzle game and a visual novel.

Bad tracking, terrible song mapping, no option to pick individual songs, no song information, severely lacking options. I have never felt so ripped off. The only reason I don't give it a zero is because it actually runs and isn't broken. Don't waste your money.

This could have been a decent game, but they made two mistakes. The first one is puzzle gaming 101: have an undo button/option. Having to restart the level from the beginning is unacceptable. The second is not allowing the player to skip ahead, and play multiple levels at a time. They reward stars, it's simple enough to have x number of stars unlock a level or world. Forcing the player to play one level at a time made me not want to come back whenever I took a break.

Dumb story, boring gameplay and terrible controls. Graphics are the only achievement. Even the online meta aspect is underwhelming.

Quick, fun, explosive game. Go for high score while doing light puzzle solving. Fantastic for what it is.

I've updated my score. After revisiting the game and playing with a controller, the game is significantly better. The wheel support is not good, and I confirmed with others online that they have the same issues. If you play with a controller you'll have fun. Original launch day score 3/10: Numerous glitches. Brutal loading times, even on PS4 Pro. Cheap AI (lead for 2 and a half laps, only to have the computer spin you out and get rammed by 4 cars, finishing in 14th) is all too common. One of the most disappointing games I've played in a long time. Save your money.
