There’s a reason this is under £1, and it’s not a good one. It’s shovelware that soft locks you if you make a wrong move. Deleted and removed from Home Screen in under 3 min.

Not normally a big rpg fan but wanted a fishing game and blasted through this is no time, apart from I’m currently too weak to beat the final boss. The fishing is simple but engaging and you can do as much of it as you want. It gets challenging as the fish get stronger so there’s an element of grinding required to catch the right fish and use their scales to upgrade your rods and hooks. Simple story and everything moves quickly, unless you just want to hang out fishing. Chill game with a decent challenge.

This is a shame because it could have been great, but it’s ended up slightly less than ok. We’re all used to grappling hooks in games, but although the hook is the core mechanic here it doesn’t feel satisfying to use. But worst of all is that when you die, unlike most other games where you respawn instantly, you’re waiting almost 10 seconds on a loading screen here. Unfortunately this has put me off continuing with the game.

The roll and slow mo mechanics elevate this above a lot of similar platform hack and slash games. Towards the end it becomes a bit puzzle like, in that you need to work out a specific order of operations for each room by trial and error - you can just blast your way through. But it never got too tedious for me. Overall, a great game

I’d like to give this a higher score because the presentation is good and in theory it should be a good quality time killer, but… aiming feels slippery because the sensitivity of the controls is too high. You can’t nudge your aim slightly because the cursor goes shooting in the direction you press. It also wouldn’t hurt to be able to lock the cursor to a location with zl. Also, being able to replay levels to improve your score and get a gold star would make it feel more rewarding. Would be good if the control issues in particular were fixed.

Awesome game. It’s a bunch of Celeste, n++, super meat boy influences but also reminds me of an 80s nes game. Nice physics, tight controls, solid level design. Pretty fun game for a chill 10 minute unwind before bed. Only completed the first 3 worlds so far, but not hard at all even though I’m horrible at maths. There’s a bit of variety as there’s a couple of bosses levels per world, which are a race to complete the level against the NCP while sending each other junk tiles. The presentation is also nice enough. Giving it an 8 is pretty generous, but for the simple type of game it is it’s decent.

Picked up the complete edition on the eshop sale for about £1.80. It’s a simple game, but it’s kept my attention for longer than dawn of the monsters that I got at the same time for 20x the price. It could do with touch controls, but for what it is it’s a ton of mindless, addictive fun.

After my initial, less favourable, review I’m gonna be a bit more lenient with this one. For what it is, the gameplay is pretty solid. If you come in expecting a fast paced streets of rage 4 you may be disappointed, as this has a slower, more lumbering feel too it. The levels can also be a bit samey. However, in co-op it can be pretty fun to bulldoze your way through the stages, and the bosses present a nice challenge. I’m just hoping they patch out a couple of the issues I had (like the arm things sometimes not spawning when you have to kill the egg, making it impossible to beat).

A friend pressured everyone into getting this so we could play local multiplayer. It’s good fun as a mindless shooter, but wtf is up with the gyro controls? The game decides how you hold your switch/pro controller so you’re looking forward, which is at some mad angle. You can’t calibrate it yourself or use the sticks to realign, that we could find anyway. If I’m wrong please let me know but that bs really let’s the game down, so can’t go above an average 7

Not bad, but I’ve got other similar games I prefer playing. That might be because personally the roguelike approach doesn’t really appeal to me and I prefer making progress rather than keep starting again each time. When I started playing it reminded me of grindstone, which I then went back to and put in more time than I did with this game. Also for 2 player, I’d much rather play similar games included with NSO, like panel de pon, which is much more fun - and that’s not opinion, that’s scientific fact.

Not gonna lie, took me a while to get into this one. It didn’t grab me in the way I expected it to after hearing all the hype. But after pushing through that stage I fully appreciate the singular vision of the gameplay and got to the top of the mountain. Now it’s something I revisit to get more strawberries, do b-sides etc and can see myself playing on and off in the future. It can be aggravating AF when you’re stuck on a hard section, and some parts feel insurmountable at the time. Some of the b-sides are just boringly difficult which prevent me from giving it a perfect 10, but I appreciate the level design and physics of the main game too much to score it any lower.

I suppose there’s a kind of compulsion to keep playing a aggravatingly difficult game like this for a while, but I also suppose that for most people that compulsion wears off pretty quick. It’s shape shifting levels means that unlike other hard games, you don’t have the opportunity to learn and master each section, so don’t have the same sense of achievement. I got this on sale at the same time as towerfall ascension, and that kinda put puss in perspective - because it’s clear which game I’ll keep coming back to. And it’s not puss.

I think this one might drop scores based on comparisons with smb, but it’s a solid hardcore platformer in its own right with original ideas and challenges. My one issue, and I’ve heard the arguments on both sides, is the fact there’s no level select. Having to go back to the beginning of a whole section to get the tumours you missed is just a ball ache. And it’s happened twice now where I exit to the map screen and accidentally click the section I’m on rather than backing out of the map, and instead of going back to where you left off it takes you right back to the beginning of the section. I know the devs wanted you to git gud and play it through it again and again to get all the secrets, but I don’t have much time to play games and after investing ages getting through some screens I just want to complete a section rather than do it all again. It just makes me rage quit and not touch the game for a few months. At least you should have been able to go back to specific screens for missing tumours after competing the game.

So this game seems like it was made with a very niche audience in mind. You basically choose a task, like shoot a sheep, then go off to shoot a sheep. Thing is, you’re on a huge map with very few sheep. And you better not run, because any sheep within about a mile will hear and run away. So get used to walking, very slowly, through an empty map in the hope you see a sheep. Then creep up to it slowly and shoot it, without gyro controls, if it doesn’t run away first, which it probably will. For some reason I feel like playing it every now and again, but I imagine most people would be bored out of their mind. It’s the slowest game I’ve ever played and it looks pretty shoddy. Some of the grass textures levitate and if there’s small branch with a few leaves you’re not walking through it, you’re walking around it because it blocks your path like a brick wall. Do I recommend it? Not really

Having way much more fun with this than I thought I would. Got it on impulse because I like games where you collect things and am getting impatient waiting for Pokémon snap. It’s quite simple to learn even though the localisation into English is hilarious (the word GET flashes up on screen when you catch a fish?!), the process of catching a fish is fun (kind of a battle system) and the scenery and fish look good. You basically have to collect all the fish, about 180, across a bunch of different areas to fill up your fish book (basically a fish Pokédex). It’s fairly simple but some fish are trickier to catch and require specific lures and rods. You have to reel them in so the line doesn’t go too slack or too tight whilst keeping an eye on how the fish is behaving. More points for heavier fish. It’s very Nintendo and probably a bit simple for serious fishing enthusiasts, but perfect for a relaxing and occasionally challenging collectathon. Never thought I’d like a fishing game but this is fun.

I’d always seen this on the eshop and ignored it because I thought it was for 3 year olds. Turns out it’s not and it’s actually a solid 2D platformer, in an old school kind of way. I wouldn’t quite call it masocore but it’s decently challenging and there’s a few sections I had to play a bunch of times to beat. It’s a bit like a chill, slower paced super meat boy. It’s also refreshing there’s no timer so it doesn’t turn into yet another frustrating speed run.

It’s like an entry level Super Meat Boy but slower paced. It’s generally ok, but after the fluidity of SMB it feels a bit sluggish. I also found some of the level design questionable, like putting a collectible beyond the goal (the damsel’s hair) so that it’s hard not to accidentally hit the goal before clearing the level 100%. A final death trap is one thing, but tricking you into clearing a level and having to start over is just silly. Tbh I’m probably less impressed with it because I’m fresh from playing Slime San, which is a spectacular addition to the genre.

I’m finding this game compulsive and frustrating in equal measure. It looks nice enough and the simplicity of rolling and bouncing feels quite free, but accuracy of movement is not easy when you can’t judge distance. I saw this was previously a free VR game and was probably designed to be played with depth of field. Sometimes when I’m trying to get a key I’m just dancing round it without a clue how I’m not hitting it. I’ve cleared about 8 levels and whilst the exploration levels get a bit grindy, the true torture comes with the time trials which are punishing AF, especially if your going for gold medals. Then it wasn’t an option to go back to explore the previous levels in more detail, which ****. However, my favourite part of the game was always the collecting side challenges, so I guess I’ll make do with them. Other thoughts were that it looked great but the controls were finicky when trying to select certain colour pikmin, especially when you dismiss them but they gather too close together and you end up touching them by accident.
