Simplified 4x Space game but not to the point of too simply like SpaceCom did. Mostly a focus on tactical ship/fleet battles, everything you do in the galaxy map is to fuel your capabilities in tactical battles. This is a change from older 4x's like MOO and Space Empires, instead of using most of your time managing the empire you spend most of it in engagements against the enemy. Management is streamlined to be very smooth. This is much like the XCom release from Firaxis, that was not quite as harsh as the original but a smoother still fun experience. Same goes for this 4x game. I knew exactly what this game was when I paid the full $15 for it. That's not much, that's a DLC pack for COD with only a few maps. Most people are expecting a Civ or Beyond Earth type of game at $15 release date price and never researched what this was, that is where most of the negative reviews are coming from. You are simply getting a streamlined space 4x with emphasis on fleet battles and games are meant to last a few hours maybe, not take dozens of hours to finish.

There could be improvement and the game changes often but as it sits this is some of the most fun I had in a while. Off-road log trucking is what you do, with industrial and older ex-military trucks like the 6x6 Ural 4320. You take these machines and try to pull heavy loads of wood across the worst terrain you can imagine but mother nature in Siberia does not like you taking her trees so it will fight you with mud bogs and harsh dirt roads that will make most civilized highway truckers cry. And it's coop, so much fun coop play to be had here winching friends out while trying to save their load of logs and not flipping it. I actually did this kind of stuff in real life but only with small trucks and firewood, regardless me and every fellow I know love this game. Literally a video game made for everyone, even country folk get high enjoyment from this. The only reason for not being a 10 is issues with the publisher and the developer casting a shadow of doubt over the whole game and it's future.

Catch this on sale, don't pay retail full price. Most things were improved but this took a step back in a few ways. There have been many times now I ran into rooms where you are forced to take damage with no way to avoid it no matter how 'good' you are. Difficulty is jumped up through the moon compared to the first game, as if this one expects you to be a pro in the original to play this one. Graphics look worse with pixelation but the game runs better because of it, runs much faster and smoother. I will give it that. But the asking price is too much. The cheese-crappy mechanics that made the original annoying still make this one annoying. I repeat what I said first: Catch on sale.

Can't call this a 10, but it's not a 7. This should be considered a variant of Super Smash Bros type gameplay with customizable robots with parts you collect from 'wild' robots. Your parts can reduce damage taken, increase damage given with basic punches, or contain special moves and attacks like a jetpack or sliding kick or cutters to slash forward with. So you can have a robot decked for high speed and high normal attack damage but have no special moves except a double jump, or you can deck out a robot with various special moves that complement each other for many fight situations. All in all it's actually fun, but make sure to have a controller. Gameplay is pretty tight, collecting parts and colors can be fun in a pokemon-sort of way, and there is more than enough challenge for adult gamers with the bosses and arena mode.

Re-released recently for modern HD screens. Same old game, same old flaws like many weapons being useless and various perks also being mostly useless. There is an odd difficulty curve, the singleplayer missions are all fairly easy except for 2.10 and 6.10 because of Spideroids on those two missions. They make the game nearly impossible especially on harder difficulties, whereas every other level and boss is easy in comparison. Despite these flaws everyone I know keeps playing it when they have 10 minutes to burn. Any crappy PC can run it and it has local coop but only with controllers for the extra players which is very hard to aim with. I'd hate to call it a classic but it fits the definition literally, a game you kept going back to for years. It's a cheaply made budget 2d shooter, yes, but it's also well-done for what it is and for some reason keeps pulling you back.

The classic. Hasn't been beat really, shame it's suffering from licensing issues and no real sequel could be made. Every Civilization game before and after this game was not near as good as this game, no joke. Customizable units for starters, flexible tech tree, lots of options for terraforming including mountains to collect moisture and make rainfall on one side and to make the other side dry which could be used to ruin an opponents farmland. The complexity is nuts for how old this game is, yet it was easy enough for me to play when 13 with no prior strategy game experience. Even the current attempt at a remake called 'Beyond Earth' is a pale shadow to the original Alpha Cent. The expansion is also good, it just adds more to the already great game.

A good classic. There are only a few things that should have been done differently, namely the random maps the first game had this game did not. But I will admit back when this was released was right before multi-cores existed on the market. They upped the graphics and made the levels multiple-layer where you can shoot from cover above down below. This was extremely complex back in the day and the dev team admitted they couldn't get the map-gen to run well nor look well with the added map complexity. This game is still great, and with the Weapon Rebalance mod still plays like vanilla but improved. A good classic you can now get on GOG. I wish a modern remake was in the pipeline, so much more could be done with this style of gameplay.

Terrible game. It seems cool, you get that feel like when you collected cards as a kid and got excited to see what you got until you realize nearly a good quarter of the cards are near-useless or underpowered. Then you get into the game and realize there are literally nerds running rampant with their spreadsheets making decks that are minmaxed for the current balance of the current version. This isn't as bad as the fact that you buy the game and literally have to grind like it's an F2P game, after you already paid for it. This would make me upset if I got this game for more than the $1 I paid for it. To top it off bad community. They say they are nice but bring up any flaw in the game that is obvious and they turn into furious fanboys and viciously attack you. These people must be mad they invested so much time during it's beta and so much money just for the game to release in such bad shape. Literally the #1 killer of this game though is decay. The most overpowered deck. For 1/10 the cost of what your enemy spent you can wipe out a whole row of enemy units, decked out enchanted and whatnot. Or for a small price you can temporarily negate the attack of your enemy during their turn when their attack counter is ready, turning an expensive unit into a weakling with no attack for 1/5 the cost of said unit. Even worse is a better version called languid which PERMANENTLY knocks 2 damage off a unit's attack for very little cost. Again, taking an expensive unit and making it as weak as a smaller cheap one for less cost. The balance issues are so glaring and the idiotic fanboys keep saying it's fine while using nothing but decay to win over and over and over. I got it for a buck, I got a buck of enjoyment and had to take several bucks in pain relievers because of all the BS that entails this failure ****. Shame Mojang chose to work on this over Minecraft, this is so terrible. By the way don't listen to the 10 scores, if you read them you can tell it's biased non-real reviews probably by paid Mojang team members.

Game has terrible netcode. I am making this update after the much talked about netcode update. It's still a bad game overall, a few good ideas like carbines and DMR's for all classes but really nothing is improved in this game. BF3 is better in every way, and goes on sale often. Get that instead, more people populate the BF3 servers than BF4 at any time anyway.

This is a terrible game, not sure why there are so many positive reviews. It is COD+Mirror's edge. The Titans themselves are just giant infantry, you are basically just scaling up so they are not even vehicles like on Battlefield. This is just EA making another COD attempt like they did with Battlefield 4, and all they ended up with is a game that is remembered as trash because COD itself is trash. Stop trying to sell to the casual FPS crowd, the game those people want is trash and will lose a company the actual gamers.

The score is to counter the false 10-point reviews, reality is this game rates around 5 out of 10 after a few of the recent patches. First rule of this game: NEVER PUT MONEY INTO THIS GAME. The devs do not deserve the money and it doesn't get you much, the F2P game model needs to die off because it's bad business. Now to the game. The game used to be fun and almost balanced, then the update that 'fixed' the HRV issue ruined the game and made it much slower. I quit more than a few months ago but kept tabs on the game, and the devs are just ham-handed with their patches. Every patch adds more bugs than it fixes, and game balance is totally ruined now. This is the first time I saw a good game get ruined by patching.

This is to help balance out the falsely positive reviews. Probably won't help much, but truth is this suffers what all FPS/RTS hybrids suffer: Mediocre gameplay all round. Not good at anything, forgettable at the least and annoying quite often. Bad interface, gameplay balance, hitreg, basically everything that should have been done right for an RTS or FPS hasn't been done proper in this hybrid game.

The only up about this game is it is cheaper than Counterstrike Source. But there is a reason for that: It was not developed by Valve. Valve might have given a few pointers but it was not enough. This game is iffy at best on hit detection compared to Source. The art style is a mix of Counterstrike Source and maybe TF2, not sure but it strikes me odd and doesn't look good at all. Also, adding bloom to everything does not equate to better graphics. Simply replacing textures in Counterstrike Source with high-res ones will make an older game look better than this one. Onto gameplay, very bad. Hit detection is bad, gun balance is not there, hitboxes seem to not work often enough. The radial buy menu is horrid for quick navigation and a total time waster. I played on low-ping servers but have to say this game took the lessons learned from Counterstrike Source then threw them away and done enough things different for only the sake of change. The maps are proof of this, they are either the same but with bloom added to hurt your eyes or they are worse with little changes meant to spice things up but actually tone things down. Many people who never played CS 1.6 or CS:S before will probably find this game alright at $15, I find it a waste of $15. Put the money to something better, catch BF3 on sale at $30 and you will get much much more. This game is shaping up to be a failure and echoes of the beta show a team that only patches the game for sake of keeping up appearances.
