Rocksmith 2014 Edition8
Nov 21, 2013
The Original Rocksmith was great! It's absolutely wonderful at teaching guitar if you don't have the time or money to afford lessons. Rocksmith 2014 is no different and it is better. There are two glaring downsides though. The first, if you buy online, via Steam or through Ubisoft then you need to order the proprietary cable separate. Second, regardless if you use Steam, you HAVE to use Ubisoft's Uplay in addition. Unfortunately that means an update is necessary every day, and that's when you want to start playing. If you have exactly an hour to play in the morning, then you better had left Uplay open the night before. Uplay is frustrating and slow and completely unnecessary.

Spiral Knights4
Mar 14, 2012
Spiral Knights is an interesting game, that I highly recommend everyone try at least once, at least for the sake that it's a f2p game, and who knows, you might it enjoy it. Everyday, players are given 100 mist energy which they are allowed to spend to their choosing. Whether it's playing newly generated levels, or creating new items is purely left purely to the user. Of course, players can spend real world money to get Crystal Energy, that unlike mist energy does not top out at 100. Stronger items are required by the game to progress onto later levels, but that does not mean players are confined to low level playing. Gone are the days when games cost a set amount upfront and I've spent twenty dollars on many things that were of far more inferior quality. Even still, players that play smart, will have many hours of entertainment on a given day. At the time this review was written, I found it incredibly easy to spend multiple hours a day playing. In addition, once players reach the final playing zone, Tier 3, the amount of money in their coffers fluctuates from a few crowns, the game's currency, to ten's of thousands of crowns, which can be traded for crystal energy, thus lengthening play time considerably. The two biggest flaws are as follows. First, there is no way to credibly and quantifiably determine the value of armor, weapons, or items. Colorful bars are given to show damage output, resistance and cancellation, but many players have determined that the bars are mostly bologna, so there is little end-game variation between players, as good players walk away from unfamiliar items, also it was recently determined that trinkets, an in-game item, have little effect on what cancellation of things like being burned, frozen or shocked. Players have pleaded to the developers many times to release item information, only to receive a blanket statement that it's to preserve the "mystery of the game" and players are to "discover for themselves". This is my most frustrated complaint. Secondly, there is the issue with servers. I'm not sure what is wrong, but there have been times where my expedition party and I all had a "flawless" connection, but many of us were walking through walls, blacking out, freezing in place, and blinking around the map faster than Bugs Bunny on cocaine. Given that players tend to spend crystal energy whenever they die, lag is probably one of the biggest drains of real world money in this game, which is very rarely refunded. Given that this occurrence is happening a lot less than it used to, it is not affecting my review as much as it would a month ago, but it is still quite annoying. Overall, this game is quite a fun and even with the f2p aspects can give many hours of enjoyment. I strongly recommend everyone give this game a chance, and if they really like it spend a little cash on it, it makes it that much better. 8/10 UPDATE: With the recent incorporation of the mission update and the Steam exclusive content, this game has failed horrifically. The lower level missions are significantly tougher than the boss battles, and the economy has crashed due to a large portion of the F2P playing group that strive to horde in game currency just for a chance to Steam Trade for the content. Updated score: 4/10

If I wanted to pay $60 bucks for a movie, this would be the way to go. The hero cannot die, and there are only a few different bad guys. Like many other games I was **** into product loyalty, and then this comes along. Graphically, it looks fantastic, but there is little depth to the character and the difficulty seems to peak about two boss fights in.

Alien Swarm (2010)9

Alien Swarm is a delightful game, especially being free. I remember when this was originally a mod for UT2004, back then it was extremely difficult. Now it's significantly more player friendly. Though not nearly as many players are online now, it is a great way to make friends. After beating the campaign the speed-runs are a wonderful way to draw that friendship even tighter as they require nearly perfect coordination amongst players. The game is dreadfully short, but that's perfect, because it honestly left me wanting more, which is the sign **** game. With server's so empty now, the worst thing about the game is that host lag will kick your butt. Seriously, everyone should have this game installed, for those nights when you don't want to pay any money, but want to play a great game.

This game is extremely frustrating, the tutorial is great and all, but the missions, AI, and controls are so difficult to deal with, that even with all of it's innovation, it is quite a waste of money.

Oni (2001)9

An amazing game that I wish was being revamped, and still supported by the developer. The massive array of armaments and the nearly seamless integration of hand to hand techniques is still remarkable and I've yet to see a better example said integration. However, that being said, there is rarely enough ammunition, missions are long and tough-though the game is pretty short, with checkpoints spaced very far apart. This game really becomes a stealth game, and considering that when it came out, Serious Sam came out too, most players simply won't have the patience to play out the whole game without cheats. There are many things I liked about it, and a few things I didn't but I would love to see an updated sequel.

Team Fortress 29

Other than UT2004, this is one of the most played games that I own. It again elicits the "epic win" response, shortened breath, cold sweat, and an eruption of vocalizations upon winning. Incredibly addicting, and now being f2p it's even better. A must play.

Unreal Tournament III3
Sep 7, 2011
In comparison with it's predecessor, Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Tournament III is extremely disappointing. Yes, it's visually stunning, but removing most of the greatest game-play features from 2004 was like putting a bolt in a calf's brain. Where is Assault, Bombing Run, and Double Domination? Those were staples of the last iteration. Playing this game makes me sad.

The most fun I've ever had over a LAN party, this game elicits the greatest physiological response, epic win. Whether it's running ragged with the flag in Capture the Flag, tossing the bomb in Bombing run, or running down the opposition while providing a surf of the manta in Assault or Onslaught, there is no comparison. It's a freaking blast.

Crimecraft: Bleedout4
Sep 7, 2011
There is little about Crimecraft that is terribly new or exciting. Weapons are interesting and the ability to fight alongside your gang while carrying your own side mission is interesting, but that's about where is stops. Crafting is painfully slow, gameplay is lackluster, and getting into the major town to play games goes from interesting to boring as Capture the Flag games are going on. If I wanted to play CTF, I would play another game as movement is extremely buggy and death is quite swift. Give it a try if you want, but after a few hours I was quite sick of it.
