Sonic Generations9

This is one of my favorite PC games. It's a blast, filled with great music, awesome graphics, and a large tribute to Sonic and his days throughout the past 24 years. I seriously recommend it to any Sonic fan, whether they be Classic, Adventure, or Modern. However, if you have an old PC or a bad laptop, don't expect to play this game without some graphical downgrades and/or lag.

As a person who rarely likes combat gameplay, this game was a lot of fun. It's a story-heavy RPG, so it's not for everyone, but the music, plot, characters, and general mood of the game are all top-notch here. One of my favorite games for the DS.

This game deserves its praise. Although short, the game is a lot of fun, and nothing comes off as cheap. The only two issues are the homing attack not being spammable (there's a slight delay that can be a pacebreaker) and this one mission being very hard to "A" rank. This game is less linear than the Rush games, and there's more emphasis on speed than the Wii version. Unlike Rush, you only need the "R" button twice through the whole game, and unlike Rush Adventure, it's just stage to stage. Great job, SEGA! This game is still great today.

Although the plot is a bit too detailed for my liking, this game counters that with fun gameplay, good graphics, and decent music (although not as catchy as Colors's). There are a lot of missions, and the boss battles are creative and not too easy. The boost formula is neat, and tricks are very satisfying. But this game has some problems. The first is the sea element. The 4 minigames you play to travel to different islands/zones felt kind of unnecessary, and it gets repetitive if you plan to find all of the islands. Another issue is the R button, which is needed to get to some pathways. Why not map this to the X button? The game never uses X in-game. Rolling into a ball, even on slopes, normally slows me down if I've been boosting, and the level design usually only contains one or two pathways. You have to be good if you plan to 100% complete this game, and sometimes that requires me to be persistent and patient, two qualities a kid likely won't want to use in a video game. But that doesn't stop me from reccomending this game, and it honestly is entertaining. As a Sonic fan? Try it out. As a casual gamer? Start with another Sonic game. As a Sonic hater? No. As a Sonic fan who despises every game other than the classics? Try it out. This is a game that will be best enjoyed if you are familiar with the franchise, but it is good fun overall.

Although not quite as good as the Wii version, the control is better than a Wii Wheel, and the graphics are decent. The multiplayer DS Download Play is great, and the game is filled with extra missions and bosses. There are only a few problems. One, the "Throw Item" is mapped to L, and drifting can be done with only R. This really **** if one of your buttons are broken, as is common on both the DS and DSi. There's no real touchscreen utilization for these, and all the front buttons are taken up for some reason. Secondly, there's no tricks, which makes the sense of speed rather dull. But these aren't necessarily deal breakers, especially if you're good at fixing the shoulder buttons. It definitely deserves a recommendation, though, but I think the Wii has it beat by a little bit.
