Super Bomberman R4
Dec 28, 2021
Bomberman is at its best with visual clarity and snappy controls. Super Bomberman R delivers neither of those. Sometimes "better" graphics are detrimental to gameplay, as is the case for this game. The character variety is nice, but Bomberman with wonky controls just isn't enjoyable.

Nowhere Prophet0
Apr 20, 2021
Nowhere Prophet is a roguelike with nice visuals and solid effort put into dialogue choices, in the process the devs however forgot to think about replay-ability. The game lacks varied starting options, enemy types are few - and due to more or less RNG card acquisition, building dedicated archetype decks doesn't work. Yet, the game is easy enough to play it through in my first ever attempt. It wasn't a bad experience, but I have no incentive to ever play it again - which makes me feel like this isn't a roguelike, but rather a relatively short adventure game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity7
Nov 25, 2020
7/10 Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity features a more interesting story than its predecessor, but suffers from a form-over-function interface, less fun to play characters and less content than the original title, as well as worsened performance. In its core this is a Warriors game and not a classic Zelda game. For gameplay & hours purchase the first part, purchase this one if you value story more.

I want to like this game, really. It has unique mechanics and offers a wide selection of interesting team combinations. Sadly the game doesn't really offer you any content were you'd need it. On top of it the story is unbearable dull, the protagonists are annoying, sequences are often drawn out and boring. There also are a ton of battles hard scripted for you to loose (even if you grind to be able to win them in theory the enemy will become invulnerable at 1HP). The combat mechanics are interesting, but everything else is just more annoying than interesting.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition9
Sep 12, 2019
87.5/100: This is primarily a Warriors rather than a Zelda game. It's a hack an slash with fancy visuals (defeating enemies with Link & co has never had this much style!), but it also has strategic layers of troop and hero management. Character selection is great and mode variety gives you potentially several hundred hours of gameplay with a lot of different characters & combos to keep things interesting. The only downside are very noticeable FPS drops in certain maps (Switch version). It's one of the 3 non Mario/Platformer Switch games everybody should own (Super Smash Bros Ultimate / Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Hyrule Warriors), though!

+Build your own deck -Can't build your own deck 'cause you won't get the cards for it -Poor variety of cards. -Paywall for "premium cards" -Poor AI With the new deckbuilding feature this could have been the best MTG of all time. Instead you get a paywall in your face. Make it rain extra cash or play with such a poor variety of utterly bad cards that you'll loose the fun in less than a day. This new pay-to-win and DLC-spam trend is making me sick. Especially if the base game ist 80% copy paste of last years release. Do yourself a favor and avoid this scam.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Ultimate Edition8
Feb 24, 2014
Castlevania:LoS is adifficult game to rate. Oldscholl gamer hate it, since this is not Castlevania. It's Devil May Cry. Good things first: +Good graphics +Interesting and great story +Many good cutscenes +Takes quite some hours to finish +A lot of skills to use +Riding enemies is a really cool feature +Finishing moves are awesome Now to the bad part: -Very linear -The game tries to force you to play each level a dozen times -- You get told what the level's challange is AFTER you finish it -- You can't access certain items without another item which you get much later in the story -- The hidden "heart/magic containers" sometimes are hidden at incredible stupid spots, where even though levels are liniar they seem impossible to find -Fights are repetitive. Even though you have a lot of skills you most often will simply attack twice, dodge. Rinse & repeat until you got enough energy for your strongest attack, use it. Rinse and repeat. THis remains the most efficient strategy for the whole game. Taking everything into account: Though I really liked the map design, visuals and story I sometimes found it hard to keep playing since I got frustrated by the game trying to force me to replay former stages. Even though everything looks different (great map design) I felt I was playing the same all over. It's so linear, that you have to treat it like a Telltale game. Play it for the story and the great designed stages. See it as a book or a movie, not as the action game it is supposed to be.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 - Faith10

Music 10/10 Visuals 10/10 , if you like cell shading Background story 10/10 , extremely unique Actual story 9/10 , it's exciting but lacks a deeper introduction into the characters relationship Playtime 7/10 it's short - bu there are 4 more parts to come. Just make sure to buy the package, not the chapter Impact of your choices 4/10 it will be different how people talk to you, but there doesn't seem to much influence in the actual outcome. Overall a really fun and exciting story-telling experience with beautiful sound and visuals.

The bad reviews are outdated. There are graphic fixes and guides for your setting which make result in a very enjoyable environment. Most bugs have been fixed (haven't experienced a single bug in my playthrough!). Note: graphics are instantly loaded into ram when entering a map; this can result in ~30 seconds of lag right at the start. However after that it's flawlessly fluent. The game gives you a great variety of weapons right from the start which partwise transform into completely new weapons just by switching the ammo. The story could have been better, but well it's not like CoD and Co had good stories either. This game might have had it's issues, but they're gone now. If you see this game on sale grab it! It's definitely enjoyable abd worth the money!

DmC: Devil May Cry10
Jan 30, 2013
Note: The easy-combat-rank-fill which was a main point of protest from old DMC-Fans, as well as several severe (sound) bugs got patched on January 30th (at least for computer). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was scared. When I saw the E3 Trailers one year before the actual release I was like; hell - can it even be worse than that DMC4 cash-in? Dante appeared to be a big, overgrown show-off kid. So, I didn't put my hopes up to high when I picked up DMC. I started the game and - like many other old-fashioned DMC fans I **** my nose when I first experienced the new combat system. BUT: I kept cool and decided to try the game before condemning it - in the end DMC really surprised me in a positive way. The combat system: While I always did love love the style system - this new kind of combat really kicks nuts once you get a hang on it. The weaponswitching has never been as fluent before. While it is true - early missions don't require a lot of special moves - the new system allows you to make combat an art. Weapons really complement each other. Especially AoE-air fight got a serious improvement. Dante: While I didn't like his concept back at the E3 presentation, the final release really did please me. He is young, he is unexperienced - but he has big mouth and the self confidence we're used to know from old Dante. He kindly lacks the humor we all used to love, but he definitely is "a type". The Story: We get to know about Dante's and Vergil's past, their youth and we experience how Dante is forced into the demonkiller-role. I don't wanna spoil anything here, so I'll hint on the setting; the developers took the main idea from and old Movie "They live!" (1988) : A world that is not what it looks like only a few have the chance, well rather the possibilities to see through the Veil society and norms blur the realty with. I'm no fan of that romantic marxistic idea to fight the "bad capitalism", but DMCs developers really had the balls to make this philosophic and critical game. The design: I really don't understand how some people can cry about the look, I set everything to ultra and it looks great on my 42″ TV. Especially the Nimbus (demon-world) is an eye catcher. Dang! I couldn't get my chin back up when I first saw the walls implode in front of me, trying to catch 'n squash me. Music: As good as in any DMC. Bottomline: Taking all these things into account I'm giving DMC 10/10. People who hate this game do hate it because the want to hate it. The new Dante lacks humor, yes but people continuously forget - this is young Dante who's new to the business, not the relaxed old top dog who's feeling completely invincible. The story is great, so is 2 world-concept. The visuals really fit the mood, as does the sound. With the latest patch DMCs only real flaws (too easy to achieve combo scores) and some (sound) bugs have been removed, leaving it a game I really can recommend to new players as well old DMC fans.
