No spoilers. It drones on, has nothing truly memorable within and is tremendously miscast in places. There was no way a Batman movie on Affleck’s watch would be this uninspired. There is less love payed to the canon here than in Batman & Robin. Do watch eventually if your curious but definitely not worth the ticket price or runtime. May play better with the general audience but not for anyone with even a glimmer of experience with the franchise through the 80’s, 90’s, via the books or other mediums.

Alita: Battle Angel

Alita is a visual treat and hits all the technical standards you would expect from a film with such an accomplished team behind it. The weakness lies with the dialogue, which may have been intentional in order to cater to a younger audience. That said: it doesn't talk down to the younger ones about the harder character moments. I feel the critics were expecting something different, but this isn't the only film of the season where we're seeing that. A little more workshopping on the dialogue and it would have been a 8 or 9 from me. If it doesn't demand a trip to the cinema, any sci-fi or anime fan should give it a look in the wild.

See Mark Hamill, etc. I can't even muster the energy to crap on the movie. It's actually an improvement over TFA in the 2nd half.

This is what happens when you disregard a wonderful heritage and fill it full of brown notes. It's not a bad movie, but is about the worst thing you could imagine as a Ghostbusters reboot. At least Total Recall & Robocop TRIED to be cool sci-fi action movies, this doesn't attempt anything other than being.

10/10. The Count of Monte Cristo would make for a terrible Pirates of The Caribbean sequel, but is objectively better and more valuable in every way. This isn't a Marvel feel-good summer live-action cartoon. It's not easy. It's for fans who know the material and are sick of being peddled children's films. Stick that in yer Civil War.

This film is going to have the same effect as The Phantom Menace - beloved for 5 minutes before reality sinks in. It's amazing that with such strong imagery it still manages to be the least SW feeling film of all. This is film making by committee with the end result coming across as poor fan fiction. JJ Abrams' take on Star Trek as a light-hearted action flick was wrong, but worked because it didn't have legacy storyline to carry and it was already predefined to a degree. The same trick has not worked here, with no regard for the impact of prior events. Essentially, this is just a soft reboot which does not seem to hold the galaxy in the balance. I never gave Lucas any credit for the prequels - and as little as possible for the originals - but TFA proves he understood the scale of the universe and how to convey it.

This film is getting slated up and down for no good reason. If you liked Napoleon Dynamite, you'll love it. The cast is pitch perfect. Could be my comedy of the year!

This is possibly the worst film i've ever seen, and i'm not saying that lightly. I cannot understand these positive reviews other than they're mentally deficient or paid to do so. Basically the plot is a poorly executed mess. The film itself lies to the audience, so when the lame twists happen they just feel like the writers trying to get back on course. It's like a script that's not gone through so much as one revised draft. The only way to explain the cast, budget, etc. is that the film simply fell apart in production. Perhaps the emphasis was put on all the wrong aspects. If you like this... I can't respect you. It's wholly broken. I'd sooner watch Human Centipede, Battleship or a rom com.

This ain't yo daddy's Superman. Badass. Now to address the hate. This film is being torn down by people saying it's both technically terrible, and a disservice to the character. I've got news for ya: f**k Sam Raimi. Y'all want Spiderman with bright colours and comic panels come to life. If you want that, there's Superman Returns, and it was awful. Like every Superman movie except the first one, and even that has aged horribly. Go watch the Marvel movies. DC have gotten the two filmmakers who redefined the tonal spectrum of the superhero working TOGETHER. I'm sick of live action cartoons this is a film.

It's really sad that this film has an even lower rating than the slightly earlier remake. It kicks the crap out of all that came before and after, including the original. This is the best told version of the Hewitt story, hands down. R. Lee Ermey is at his most evil, and really steals the show. The vibe is much like The Hills Have Eyes remake properly twisted.
