Like often, the metascore is by far not comprehensible and shows, people haven't understood the role-playing genre and what's most important for this game category. Nier focuses on character interactions, character depth and story depth, merely delievers the primitive and old form of battle system from the past (Hack&Slash) and beautifully neglects adventure elements like solving demanding puzzles or to find items to forward the gameplay. The group of the protagonists and their character depth promote the gameplay. Considering the different endings, which underline the story depth, the insanely beautiful soundrack and the amazing atmosphere, Yoko Taro created a masterpiece in the role-playing game history.

The first question I have asked myself was: Where is the RPG here? It's a simple created adventure, mixed with dark and humorous storyline. Not even complex enough to spend enough time with. Looks like today, almost every game is sold as RPG and people, especially the younger generation, cannot recognize and define this genre anymore. Just tearful....

Great Midgar Remake! High class character interactions implemented in a demanding, partly uncertain storyline. The player characters simply live in this game. But the sequel won't be a remake anymore. That's for sure..... Remember,..... the seven seconds..... ;)

The benchmark among Japanese RPGs and a template for the next RPGs like Final Fantasy 7 back in the 90s. Interactions and the deep role-playing related storyline was never told in such demand like in this game. Everyone, who has knowledge about the genre RPG, knows the requirements and important criteria of this game category, will quickly notice the quality of this game, acknowledge the unique depiction of character depth and why it's still the best Final Fantasy game and a masterpiece in the role-playing game history. One of the best role-playing games ever made......
