Is it possible that critics walked into the movie wearing comedy blinders just because it is an Angel film? Hmm I didn’t expect much after reading the negative reviews; however, instead, I was blown away! SOLO. MIO is one of the BEST ROMANTIC COMEDIES of this decade! Instead of being a typical “chick flick,” the story centers on a left-at-the-altar man who decides to use his prepaid, no refund honeymoon on his own. What ensues draws the audience to dare to hope, to laugh, to cry (for those of us who cry at movies), and even to enjoy some unexpected slap stick that makes us roar. Kevin James and Nicole Grimaudo offer us absolutely believable interactions, while Jonathan Roumie and Kim Coates annoy us to tears (in a good way ha ha). On top of these amazing actors, the audience has the supreme pleasure of seeing and hearing Andrea Bocelli who appears as a fictional version of himself with music that is expressive and poetic in nature—romantic—evoking deep emotions, uplifting, inspiring, heartfelt, and sincere! Add to this, the storyline takes us to awe-inspiring Italy. I encourage viewers to just go and enjoy! Leave your worries and pre-conceived notions at the doorstep. I loved it! The delightful message the movie inspires is to “Take chances. Don’t be afraid. Live.” (The only negative for some people is that there’s an awful a lot of boozing going on. One use of a— and two uses of h—.)
