Great combat, however everything directed around that is done with such little effort and thought. The game is padded out, the visuals are terrible despite having quality assets. The whole thing looks on max settings like it's actually on low settings. With dev that rakes in this much cash, they should have let this one cook longer. I rolled credits but would be lying if it didn't become a slog in the end.

One of the best games I've played this entire generation period. Gorgeous visuals, great combat, and the best open world exploration I've experienced since elden ring. Don't believe the hate. This one is a gem

Performance issues aside this is a superb first outing. having played nearly every Souls like that has ever released including the og kingsfield series, I can tell you it's pretty absurd to say this is just another by the book Souls like that doesn't introduce anything new. That sentiment overlooks all the aspects of leveling and combat mechanics that are primarily unique to this effort. the level design Harkens back to old school dark souls 1,. the only thing admittedly generic would be the biome choices that are similar to ones we've seen in the past but with a Chinese setting. Again, the performance needs work, however fromsoft has getting been getting a "pass" on performance in terms of reviews for decades using an old archaic engine with visuals that aren't anywhere close to current Gen standards. i've noticed this over the last generation with the increase in Souls likes, that essentially get slandered by many mainstream review outlets. However in this case much of the negativity is coming from users, so focused on ue5 hate and it's poor optomization here that it's players are selectively on the attack. It's a good one worth your time if your a fan of the genre.

It's a decent game and entertaining Indy adventure. What holds it back is the gameplay which is repetitive and loaded with boring colllectathon side content that rivals modern Ubisoft open world bloat. They really diminish the quality with so much filler.

Things needed to be addressed weren't and the performance is abysmal. I think this was shadow dropped for a reason. It's a technical mess, and the single biggest shortcoming in the game remains unchanged: the item and enemy level scaling. Completely breaks all rpg progression systems in the game. When the nostalgia fades, it's clear this project was rushed out.

Honestly one of the must mundane and generic games I've ever played. The story is great but the gameplay is basically mobile levels of depth. You spend more time watching this game than playing it. Such an overrated game.

It is literally the best RPG to release in modern times. Decisions matter, exploration is rewarding, and most of all everything feels handcrafted. The encounters and environs aren't just procedural filler or copy and pasted assets populated with random respawning enemies. It has the cumbersome baggage that CRPGs tend to all come with in terms of controls, Ui, and inventory, but Bottom line, its just a blast to play and get lost in. IT It's just so good, period.

Its a solid title, not nearly as bad as some suggest. ITs got a decent story and fun combat that clicks when you click with it. The camera can be a bit wonky, as well as some of the platforming. The only other critique I have is with the overall level design. It doesn't match with the level of awesome character models. The evirons in contrast are much more samey and just not as well fleshed out.

The game as a game is great. While there are some performance hiccups to iron out, its till a good achievement. I am not even a Potterverse fan, and I am enjoying the title. I can definitely say that after 20 hours in, the game gets better after about 7 hrs and really opens up into a maticulously crafted open world game. I think what sells this game the most is its design. It has a ton of open world tropes we have all seen before, but lacks the blatant over use of copy and pasted assets. Each location and room feel meticulously crafted and makes the whole experience far more enjoyable. The art design is incredible, and one thing you will notice right away is that unlike other open world games, here you can actually enter most buildings and locations you see. The loot system could be better, and the voice acting, and conversations animations and character models are hit and miss, mostly miss aside from the main characters/instructors. Now to address the very selective controversy surrounding this game... It's absolutely appopriate and right to give a statement regarding Rowling and the controversy surrounding this game when discussing it. However, the issue that is being raised here is just people wanting to bandwagon. If this nonsense regarding WORDS by a bigot hadnt gained hive mind internet momentum no one would be talking about it. Just as those that claim they won't bankroll oppressions continue to do so with literally hundreds if not thousands of purchases they make throughout their lifetime under our current system. So dont tell me this is your stand, when the minerals and labor in your phone, game console and TV promote slavery war and genocide, when you applaud the newest Fromsoft title in which they dont pay their employees for the forced overtime it took to produce. When you wash your hair or take medication that was first tested on the primates sitting in cages right now as you argue about this one womans words. When you eat your dinner made via mistreatment and the opposite of peace for the lifeforms that sit on that plate. Don't forget the predatory practices of the employer you work for or the advertising you allow on your site in the name of profit to continue feeding the system and pay their life tax on you. If you are going to pretend like you care about peace for something you had better mean it beyond a 6 month internet hype cycle surrounding this one sad woman's words. What she said is garbage and ignorant, yes. but seriously? This where you draw the line? a friggin' Potterverse game?! That's it? I'm not buying it. Don't' tell me somehow this person's interpretation of a community in the form of WORDS is somehow more important than the myriad of actual physical, mental, and emotional destruction that your day-to-day consumption finances. To suggest that buying this game is financing some sort of anti-Trans campaign, is also to suggest that feeding yourself, and your very existence finances warlords, enslavement, global environmental destruction, imperialism, racism, as well as the very thing you criticize this woman for. who merely wrote a few books and thus has a few million social media followers. Trust me, much more influential and powerful people that actually affect global human trajectory are directly financed by you whether you want to face that or not. Do something meaningful if you care, because more words and your lack of 'contextual understanding based' one-time 70-dollar boycott of this video game ain't it......

Great game but, decent polish, story, and production valyes. Falls short of being a masterpiece as the critics suggest, but let's be honest, so did Elden Ring and Death loop. Make no. Mistake, the game is very much an iterative title. This is. PS4 game.... Period. Held back by aging hardware and the greed of investors wanting the highest returns. Not to say it doesn't look great, as it does, and certainly has many modest improvements visually. If you enjoyed the 2018 title, you will enjoy this. Hopefully for Sony and their Studios, the generation will eventually begin. 2 years in and it still hasnt....

This game is an enormous disappointment and I'm baffled at its positive reviews. I feel compelled to at least warn others as to what they are getting if you waste money on this. This is essentially a linear walking simulator in which you spend just as much time reading dialog ue and being interrupted by a nine style party dialog ue scenes as you do walking and engaging in the boring combat. The game chose to make armor sets and costumes two different thing to compell microtransactions as well as be lazy and not have to have a different design for each armor you equip. The game also compels microtransactions by making even grinding to level up extremely tedious. To call this game an open world rpg is just an outright lie. All progression is locked behind linear progression of the story in terms of the skill trees. It will become quite clear early on just how far from an rpg or even an action adventure game this is. It may look pretty but it plays like a mediocre game from the early 99s It's merely a playable movie of a very generic, extremely repetitive and half baked anime. If that's your thing have fun.

Bottom line: the game is overhyped. I have been playing From Soft games since Kings Field 1. Design: This is more of the same, and absolutely just dark souls in an open world. It is refreshing to see a game without a bunch of icon chasing and relies on player exploration. One caveat and problem here is that the payoff when clearing out extremely tough areas is nonexistent, often times rewarding you with mediocre items, this is the same for slightly hidden items, they are just mediocre save for a few instances. The sense of exploration created by their design choices are great, what you get for exploring isn't, but still, it's a fun challenge. It works from a design standpoint, but as a fan I'm tired of being sold the same decade old game engine ALONG with re used enemy animations, assets, and move sets. The armors, weapons, all of it are literal reskins they have already used across 4 games. The least from soft could do is update the archaic UI. Technical: The game runs poorly on PS5, there new patch 1.002.001 actually made the game WORSE. with a shorter draw distance and more pop in, but the framerate is still as bad as before, and now the game looks and runs worse. Bottom Line: this game as is technically, is not what the mainstream outlets are saying. It's a technically flawed dark souls game set in an open world. If the technical issues were actually fixed on this game reusing so much content from old games, I'd say it's a solid 8. Just don't go in buying the nonsense about a masterpiece and accessibility to all. It's a lie.

Hands down the best game of the year, One that brings me back to when games were challenging but also genuinely fun to play. Glad I waiting for the ability to suspend a run. Because the game challenges you and you want to meet it regardless of the time you've been playing. In a world of sloppy and shameless cash grab remakes, and on rails PlayStation narrative driven games void of actual gameplay, this game is a breath of fresh air. If you enjoy playing games, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to to play this game.

This game, unleashed to play without it's technical limitations on the ps4 (playing on PS5), this game is an extremely enjoyable open world game. Far better than ubisoft filler ridden nonsense. Do not pass this up based on far hypocritical critic reviews. This game is on the level of rdr2 and the last of us. It has the same problems and the same great aspect

Honestly shame on the game "critics" who gave this game a review above a 7. How much did that cost? Shame on CDPR for releasing a game knowingly broken and deceiving their fan base by instituting a blackout on all footage of the game running on consoles. Do not buy this game on consoles, demand a refund if you did. They lied to us for months to prevent the cancellation of preorders, and we fell for it hook line and sinker.

As far as on PC: just know the game is so poorly optomised it doesn't even run properly on high end GPUs released two months ago, and this is a game in development before those and nest gen consoles were even on the radar.
