For years, nothing came close to CoD4 in the FPS world. The following CoD's were poor console ports for the PC, BF3&4 were awful, RO2 a tad disappointing. Insurgency has all the elements a good FPS should have. No cheats included as perks (invisibility, see through walls, jump packs). No helicopters or airstrikes. No dog packs. None of that silliness. You win because you play in a team and do your bit. The game has improved enormously since release, I hope to be able to keep up with it. It is not easy, but that's why is so rewarding. Move over CoD4, there is a new king in town!

This game is a solid 8. Great story, great environment, very immersing. Levels are well thought and done. I cannot remember playing such a good single player mode since maybe Hidden & Dangerous in the late 90's. You really have to think your next move, it isn't an 'all guns blazing' game! The progress cannot be saved everywhere - the saves are location based. However this isn't a major problem. More annoying is the weapon swap system - turn the mouse wheel to get a circular menu to pick the weapon from. Most of the time is fine, but in the heat of the battle is less than ideal! Would it be too much to ask for a PC-only control? Drop that circular control for PC users! We don't use gamepads! This is the main reason for an 8/10. Fortunately, I got the DVD disks rather than the download. I am glad I did that - this game will take a massive 47GB of your hard drive! 11 of them will have to be downloaded after the disk installation anyway! HD's are cheap these days, but it could be a problem for some if not much space left inside the box. Graphics are OK on my 4year old machine. Nothing special but no frame-rate problem like in most newly released games (BF4, Ghosts, Titanfall). Some complain this doesn't have a multiplayer. Yes, it is true, but buy it just for the single player - it is beautifully done (in a creepy, **** evil way, of course). A multiplayer may emerge in the future. If the maps will be as well thought as the single level ones, we may be in for a surprise. Of course, they could fail the MP by not releasing public sever files! This game is a breath of fresh air in the world of PC gaming, where we were promised so much lately, only to be disappointed time and time again. Buy it!

The basics of gameplay are mostly spot on. Shooting the guns against the AI eels great, not so great against real players. The wall-waking and jet-pack jumping is strangely satisfying. But to what price? Remember the annoying bunny hopping in COD (all versions)? It has been sadly elevated to a feature. When facing real players it turns into a jump-fest. It seems that many cheats used in FPS are elevated to 'features' - some temporary, some permanent: invisibility, constant jet-jumps from real players, x-ray vision etc. Everything I hated in CoD is in Titanfall!!! This restricts the appeal of the game to a certain population. It is aimed mainly at pre-18yo teenagers. despite the 18 certificate. The hit boxes are weird - too big for AI enemies and seem too small for real players. It is difficult to say whether your shot hits the enemy or not. It is strangely unsatisfying to get a kill. AI is silly - most of the time, in close combat, I just kick them - no waste of ammo. For now, it is difficult to figure out who is enemy and who is friendly. In the heat of play is difficult to spot the name tags. The uniforms are too much alike!!! Maps and gameplay are interesting, but 6v6 MP, matchmaking system and weird hit boxes lets the game down. Matchmaking means that sometimes you just wait and wait for a game to get set up. Loading times are veeeeryyyyyy loooooong! This game would be great with dedicated servers and full customization of gameplay. I would love to play on a server where we could disable certain features! But that's not going to happen, sadly! The new private match features may help here, but being ...err private, makes it kind of useless. Nothing can replace public servers! A huge download for the PC - almost 50GB. Really?!!! For what? The uncompressed sound files. Which are then used to generate chatter on the radio. Huge price for an attempt at immersion. It works for the first day or so, then it becomes tedious! Same repetitive drivel that doesn't help in the gameplay - there is no story line! Worth £60 for the game+season pass? No! Get it on sale, get it on sale, get it on sale!!! There is no guarantee people will buy the add-ons. After all, EA or Respawn could always kill the servers at some point. They have done it before. A 2 for the innovation in gameplay. Respawn, for PC, please bring public servers to Titanfall, otherwise the interest will fade soon. For some it is already gone!

I know many don't care about single player and rightly so as the franchise is recognized for it's multiplayer mainly. But the 3 is for the single player effort. I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign despite the 'on the rails' nature of it. The story is a bit silly, however the delivery is awesome. Compared with CoD Ghosts, there is more flexibility in the gameplay and everything looks much better. Good effort, DICE! Would be great to get a few more SP campaigns as DLC's... However, no points for multiplayer. A total and utter failure so far! DICE, if you think I will fork another £50 for BF 5 you can think again. Unless you properly fix this pronto! And what is with the veeeerrrryyyyy looooong unlocks?!! It is too tedious, boring and if not fixed, is going to lose even more players. I hit this guy running towards me with 5-7 LMG bullets he keeps running towards me and kills me with 1 pistol shot!!! WTF?!! This is supposed to be a game, an enjoyable activity... When you die 9 times out of 10 (probably more actually), it is tedious. I am an very good CoD 4 player it is strange how bad I can be on BF4. Either PB is rubbish and these guys are cheaters or BF 4 is broken beyond repair! I had big hopes, considering the big disappointment that CoD Ghosts is. But is not worth paying £50 for a very short SP game.

The only slightly positive thing about this game is the single player, despite being very short (as usual with CoD). Well written and entertaining. Everything else is unfortunately negative. It requires humongous specs. So I expected HD quality graphics and the IW guys promised quote: 'over 60 fps on all platforms'. Maybe they need to clarify what they mean by 'all platforms'. Because on the PC it jumps between 60-60 to under 20. Often it turns into a slideshow. And now we know PS3 paleyers suffer from framerate stutters too. In general the graphics appear very dated think CoD UO. BLOPS and BLOPS2 look much modern in every way. Only 65 degree field of view? Which cannot be adjusted!!?? WTF Activi$ion?! Do you know is 2013 and most of us use 16:9 widescreen monitors?!! This is a major fail! MP is crazy as always I find the standard MP unplayable the only one that I can cope with is hardcore. But that is a let down too due to very limited number of maps and game types you can use. Customization is minimal I don't really care for it but is worse even than BLOPS 1. The maps I played so far are minuscule the only big map is on standard game type only which I find unplayable to get a kill you need to hit 4-5 times. I will persevere with some of the other new game types, however this is turning to be not just the worst CoD, but just a bad game in general. If you have the game and also have CoD 4 fire that up and check out the MP gameplay. It still beats this hands down.

Compared with ARMA2, the game-play is much more fluid, smoother, more FPS-like. Don't expect CoD stile game-play, but that's a good thing. Team-play, as always with ARMA series, is essential. The weapons and vehicles are all fictional (due to royalties restrictions), but they all feel real and there is a good balance between the factions' gear. The community no-doubt will fix this. There are already quite a few of 'replacements' like the SA80 assault rifle and a full US/Russian weapons. Many more are in the pipeline. Recently, the first chapter of a campaign has been released as a free DLC with very well done, really enjoyable game-play. You do need a fairly powerful PC, but the game is less resource-intensive than ARMA2. I can run almost everything maxed up on a 2 year old machine (only turned down shadows and removed AA as I run it at full resolution). To enjoy the game play you need to spend some time to learn the controls, not just for the soldiers, but also for the different vehicles, UAV, robots etc. There is also a command set of instructions where you don't need to get into the fight, but manage the battlefield groups to fulfill the mission. Aslo, don't forget the scuba divers a first in the ARMA environment under-water warfare! The mission editor is even more powerful than ever and there are plenty of community-created missions available to download either via STEAM or from various websites. You can create large multi-unit battles or smaller building-clearing type of missions the last now works better than ever as it wasn't a strong point in previous ARMAs . This game has got some quirks, but for the kind of scale it covers huge terrain, multitude of units, weapons, vehicles etc. it is a truly enjoyable battlefield simulation off-line or on-line. Bohemia Interactive's constant support for the game, dedicated server files, modding tools brings a breath of fresh air in the FPS world at a time when other FPS games (BF and CoD) are now console games, a constant more and more expensive re-hash of the same, with a very closed server environment. Well done Bohemia Interactive! And thank you!

Not a bad game a bit short, very linear. But the story is OK and game play smooth and intuitive. Would have been better if lean/peak was available and ability to pick up weapons from dead guys. Yes, this would potentially turn this into an FPS, but would also enhance the game. What is the point on facing hordes of enemy charging at you and not being able to pick up the Tavor next to you and level them down?!!! Maybe there is scope (no pun intended) for a sniper-oriented CoD clone... Good effort!

Poor console port to PC. It deserves a 2 because it has a story at least, but is let down by the poor controls, especially moving around... Keep console games to consoles. Nice to be able to set trip bombs etc... With improved controls (more common to a FPS) this could be a great game... Shame it fails on so many levels.

A very buggy game which needs a beast of a PC. And even then it is still not running efficiently. 1C already gave up on this game - no more patches will be available. Their IL-2 series was successful and they seemed to care although they never fixed some important bugs on that game either... I always supported them, by buying all the games they made, sometime twice (IL-2 Sturmovik 1946). Will I buy their next game? Most likely not!.

After getting used with driving in this game you get to like it. It isn't easy, but if you spend the time it gets rewarding. I scored it 7 due to limited tuning options. There is a lot in there, but not as far as I would like to see. Any tuning you do is not that obvious unless you spend a lot of time for EVERY circuit and EVERY car.... A bit boring. And the game should have more cars.

A bad console port to PC. Inflated price for a re-hash of older CoD games. Same 'on rails' single player experience. In MP you need to hit someone a few times with a LMG with FMJ bullets, in HC mode, to kill them. Not the CoD experience I am used to... Feels more like the normal mode, but worse. Good to see lean/peak is back to CoD. But worst of all is.... No dedicated servers! WTF?!!! Which means it is difficult to find a game for MP and/or will get disconnected when host leaves. Unacceptable!!! And you are at the mercy of Activi$ion. No way to kick chaters, mod a server (even within the game rules etc...). Last CoD purchase for me ever. Will probably revert to Cod 4 and even BO. CoD 4 remains the best to this day. Strange thing is I would have paid more for new versions of CoD. Or just new maps or enhancements of the versions already there. You lost me for good now, Activi$ion! I am a PC gamer! Edit: An update as it really bugs me: 12 player multiplayer? Are **** me Activi$ion?!!! And the lag encountered on matchmaking is really annoying. Some of the animation and models are v. cartooney compared with previous CoD's. Don't buy this **** Can't believe I am supporting an EA game, but if you have money to burn, buy BF3 or buy Red Orchestra 2, buy COD 4! Stay well away from this. We are PC gamers! Edit #2: So I am not accused for criticising without trying it. After playing MP for 5 days, I can confirm CoD is dead. It took until all/most perks and addons were unlocked. Now almost every game is won by one or two guys running around with knives. There is no balance in the game anymore. There is no fun. You can blame it on my inexperience, but I am a decent player. I didn't think I would be playing for too long this sad excuse ****, but to not last even a week.... I repeat! Don't buy this **** This is a poor console game - leave it to consoles. But the worst: lag - probably due to constant connection needed to Activi$ion servers. Not good. And only 18 players multiplayer? Hmmm - I play CoD 4 on servers with 50 players!!! And that is a 4 year old game. Will I play this in 4 years time? Probably not. Would I play Cod 4 four years from now? Probably yes. £12 DLC that gives you only 4 extra maps and not much else?!!!!
