Enjoyable, even though it's absurdly ridiculous that any middle aged woman (OR man) would go alone to do such dangerous things (rock climbing, white water rafting, etc.) But I guess they needed this stupidity to set up the plot, so whatevs.

I enjoyed this movie! I'm not sure how much of the stuff about hot air balloons is correct or accurate, but it was a fun ride. You're guessing the entire time whether the husband is lying or not. If you like movies where the characters need to solve problems to survive, watch it! It kept me engaged all the way through.

I saw this 2001 movie for the first time today. I have a psychology degree and worked at a state psychiatric hospital for many years and found this movie very interesting, thoughtful and well done, with nuances and details that the critics must have been blind to (note the huge disparity between Critic vs. User reviews). Many of the patients were characatures of psychiatric wards, but it made the movie work. Also reminded me how much better movies from 20 years ago were than they are today. A lucky find!

Worst of the 3 movies by far. The only interesting character was the Dr. (who finally came in at the end) and the rest was just disjointed drivel. Even Jody Comer, normally an excellent actress was mediocre. And how are the infected lasting 28 years when in the second movie it said they "died of starvation after 6 weeks"? So stupid.

Very boring! I'd say this was only Jurassic "adjacent" since it had NONE of the actors or characters from the prior movies (not even cameos) and was a silly one dimensional story: Get 3 vials of blood. That's it. Nothing interesting or creative whatsoever. Lots of scenes similar to Jaws (if you love that) but even Scarjo couldn't save it. The usual schlock. Skip it and watch when it comes out on streaming.

I live in Utah so missionaries are everywhere and I was not expecting to be impressed since I live in LDS-land and was prepared to be bored actually (I'm agnostic) but this movie really gripped me and was a slow burn right until the end!!! The actresses who played the 2 sister missionaries were GREAT and of course Hugh was great as well! A lot of the time he was friendly (yet talkative) and seemingly non-threatening, which was the juxtaposition that really made the film work IMHO. Highly recommend!!!

Actually, the same schtick got very annoying and irritating as the movie progressed (i.e., the bickering and how Adam Sandler can't shoot worth a s***.) I'd say skip it, but if you're like me and you loved the first one, I'm sure you will watch it anyway. :-)

Not my favorite Wick. I love Keanu and this franchise but there were so many things that were ignored or given just a tiny nod (or not giving any closure to new elements/characters that were introduced) in favor of constant fighting scenes (i.e., not seeing his dog until the very end, the Bowry King basically doing nothing important except bringing him a suit), etc. However, if you are a male who enjoys just seeing constant fighting you will love this, but if you appreciated the complexity of the previous movies and the more subtle elements, I think you will be disappointed.

I feel like most people really missed the point of this movie, didn't watch the whole thing or got overly distracted by it's disturbing parts (thus throwing out the baby with the bathwater). It is a coming of age story about being female that was very well done. If you didn't watch it until the end you shouldn't be rating it IMHO since the journey she goes on and the choices she makes as it progresses are the entire point of the movie.

Good movie, but DEFINITELY not as good as Prometheus, Blade Runner, etc. Lots of cloying Ra Ra let's- all-rally-around "Independence Day" moments, too much emphasis on how long he can live without food (making a big deal of a few extra days when people on hunger strikes can live for months!) when water and oxygen are much more vital. Really unbelievable "fixes" using plastic and duct tape (on a blown airlock) on a planet whose temperatures and atmosphere are much more extreme than earth's. Terrible movie!!! Beautiful visuals (which is why I gave it a 3) but such a stupid story, and ridiculously naive behavior by our heroine - who does nothing smart with her new found power throughout the entire movie! (All she does is wonder where her boyfriend is. Ughhhhhhhhhh.) Maybe the story will appeal to pre-teens but any adult will find this story simplistic, ridiculous and lame. A space-age Cinderella story with a twist: she happily goes back to cleaning toilets at the end! Oh, but she has her booooooooofriend, so I guess all is well with the universe. OMG - SO LAME!!! Okay, here's the thing: If you loved the mindless "games" of people fighting in an artificially created arena (the first 2 movies), you won't like this one as much. If you thought the actual "games" part of the first 2 movies were cheesy (like I did) you might like this one better. This movie is about the bigger picture and is grittier, tension filled, has lots of strategy involved, addresses how a full-fledged revolution is born and works on a much higher level IMHO. I thought this was the best of the 3. (Did I miss Effie's outrageous outfits? Of course, but seeing a stripped down Effie who has defected and seeing how she copes living in an underground bunker without her wigs and costumes was actually more satisfying.)

PROS: ORIGINAL Sci Fi concept movie (not just a rip off of another movie. . .Oblivion anyone?), EXCELLENT acting by McConaughey, great outer space visuals, interesting A.I. design, captivating plot, kept you thinking. CONS: VERY long (almost 3 hours), too much "set-up" before they got things into space, Anne Hathaway was the most annoying and unlikable I've ever seen (and I've liked her in other movies - so I'm not a hater), volume increase at certain points was excruciating and cloying, and lastly, a bit too much emphasis on the "love saves all" idea (blech!) but maybe that's just me. . . SUMMARY: Enjoyable, felt new, worth seeing just for McConaughey; a solid 8.

The final concept of this movie seemed totally ripped off from Dark City (which is a MUCH better movie I might add). The first and second halves of the movie felt totally different, the first being like a mediocre horror film ("college kids on a roadtrip") and the second part being more of a what is going on here (similar to Cube). Being a Sci Fi fan, I obviously enjoyed the second half much more (after suffering through the slow and cheesy first half) but even so, this movie wasn't all that great.

This was one of the worst Sci Fi movies I have seen, and I LOVE Sci Fi! I waited for months for this to come out on DVD because it wasn't playing anywhere around where I live, and now I know why. I gave it a 4 instead of a 2 only because of Scarlett J. She is the only good part of the movie because she is so beautiful and sexy (so if you are a Scarlett fan it is worth seeing). It seemed like the slow, dreary pace would all be worth it when it explained itself in the end, but this movie didn't even try to, which made me angry for wasting my time on it. I do like odd, cultish movies (like Rocky Horror Picture Show , John Waters movies, etc.) but this really missed the mark. If the ending had wrapped things up, I could have forgiven the slow pace and often boring scenes, but it didn't. A horrible, very disappointing ending for several reasons.

Odd movie but one that I couldn't stop watching. A real portrait of what "starving artists" go through. If you are interested in abstract art, or artists in general, you will appreciate this movie. What a bold faced total rip off of the main concept of Source Code, which was an excellent movie. The people who are giving this movie great reviews obviously never saw Source Code, so are really giving THAT movie the good reviews. EOT was simply stealing S.C.'s whole idea (minus the really interesting, nuanced parts which I won't give away in case you haven't seen it), inserting Tom Cruise and changing the emergency from bombings (S.C.) to aliens. Very pathetic ripoff IMHO. Sorry, but Tom as the save-the-day hero is getting really old. Can't movie producers come up with their own ideas anymore?

I read the horrible reviews, saw it was a big "NO", but still enjoyed it! Yes, the acting is kinda cheesy (okay, really cheesy in parts), Will Smith and Son's weird 'accents' are off-putting (just speak normally, for Pete's sake!) but I liked the story and efforts to put sci-fi type detail in it, instead of taking the easy route. The bird part was unexpectedly sad (get your kleenex) but try it, you might like it! I think reviewers were reacting more to the fact that Will Smith wrote, starred in and co-directed it, which tends to turn people off because it is so obviously self-indulgent, but if you ignore that, it's not a bad movie! P.S. I consider myself a fairly harsh sci-fi movie critic, e.g., didn't think 'Gravity' was "all that and a bag of chips" other than the visual effects (which were stunning).

Actually, I'd give this a 6.5 because it's got a few too many problems to be a solid 7 IMO. While Damon is the best part of the movie (he was GREAT), there just wasn't enough Elysium life-style development (I was curious as to the details of how the habitat worked and what they did, but nothing was ever shown except for women lying by pools with their butler robots). The only part of Elysium that was developed was the defense side, in which Jodi Foster was miscast, IMO. She is a great actress but her in this role didn't feel right to me. By the same token, not much was devoted to life on earth and how society operated in the future there either. Lots of people running around looking poor, sick and dirty, but nothing much about how they survived. TONS of action though, so I am guessing the guys will like this movie a lot. But for me, it left too much out in favor of all the action.

From Brad's idiotic expressions and shallow sentiments ("No, Government Guy, I just CAN'T bring myself to help save the world because I need to be here to tuck my kids into bed at night when they are safe on this big military ship") to the absurd ridiculousness of many of the plot points (like are they REALLY going to waste a military helicopter in an extreme EMERGENCY to remove his family from the ship just because he went MIA? Did they really eat that much food? WTF!). This movie was an EPIC failure. Very entertaining movie, but what annoyed me were the liberties taken with the original Khan episode and then the Wrath of Khan movie, as well as stuff taken from other S.T. movies. It was as if the writers assumed Trekkies who watched the original series would be too senile by now to remember how the story lines went, which was insulting. I have no problem bringing the past into new movies, but you can't just rewrite the history that everyone knows and loves unless you explain why! However, if a person HADN'T read the book, they would probably give it a 4 because it was slow moving. There were poignant moments that I enjoyed seeing come to life, but this is really a movie for those who have read the book. It doesn't stand on it's own. There's so much more detail in the book about Wanderer (her life, history, struggle between being a Soul and reconciling it with her new feelings and behavior, dealing with Melanie, etc.) and you only get 1/20th of that from watching the movie.

Unfortunately, this movie was TOTALLY over-hyped and didn't deliver. If you like the kind of action that has lots of shots of the main character sleeping in a tree and her BIG strategic moves involving a hornet's nest and some berries, you will think this is great entertainment. I would have given it less than 5 stars, but because of the costumes/hair/makeup in the middle section of the movie (which were very well done), I bumped it up a couple. I think it is only for people who read the "Books" since they can fill in mentally what the movie lacked (which was A LOT).
