World War Z

World War Z presents an abundance of relatively plausible action, smart solutions and one useful piece of information: When the zombiepocalypse comes, the undead are flying coach.

Forster and his team have also mastered the discreet edit, leaving a lot of the blood, gore, and zombie slime to the imagination. (It's still a pretty convincingly creepy affair.)

The movie has made it to theaters not dead on arrival, but walking dead, running dead, and — when it's really working — swarming dead.

Director Marc Forster is very good at amping up the terror, but after a while, we reach zombie overload and we might as well be watching an infestation of Transformers.

Even as big-budget blockbusters go, this is a hard movie to connect with.

The film can be engaging, well-made, and even a touch more interesting than it has much right to be. But it's also far from a satisfying work as a whole.

It is no summer thriller. It’s an anemic actioner that fosters excitement like dead limbs as it lumbers toward a conclusion.

Strip away the title and any associations with the source material and this is a mildly above-average action/horror hybrid. It's nailed the gritty, vivid tone I expect of a dawning modern zombie apocalypse - the panic, confusion and outright helplessness of civilian life at ground zero - but does gradually get carried away in terms of scope. Brad Pitt as not just humanity's last great scientific hope, but also its vigilant watchdog and bombastic action hero, is something of a reach and smells like several characters were mashed together for the sake of simplicity. In a few instances, World War Z tests the waters of political and social knee-jerks, enduring themes of the novel, but these are contrived token efforts at best and certainly not the film's forté. It's usually content to flush the screen with crumbling cityscapes and spitting, sprinting, screaming infected hordes, both of which perform quite well. At moments, World War Z is intense, shocking and borderline iconic, but limited depth is an Achilles' heel, and most of the third act plays out like a bland, predictable obligation.

Fix the game, or buy additional server, cause it keeps disconnecting you from the game, so playing co-op with your friends is not an option.

Bloated and uninspired, World War Z plods along to a lackluster finish without any excitement or relatable characters. Brad Pitt to his credit does a fine job, but in some scenes he looks like he's annoyed by the large number of reshoots he was subjected to. Completely forgettable film.
