Surprisingly nice FPS with that good old Far Cry Formula: Beautiful graphics, good gunplay, clear good and bad characters and lots of stuff to shoot and do. I did not like the hillbilly setting at first but the open world is really nice. Flying with a helicopter is a blast. For 40-50h you will most likely not get bored at all.A lot of things are only mediocre though: the soundtrack, hunting and most of the side quests as don't reach the quality of the other entries. The story had potential but it is implemented very poorly. And since the ending is probably the most rushed and overall worst in video game history, I have to lower my rating.
Even 10 years later, this game still holds up. I haven't played FC3, but it is surprisingly modern compared to FC6, which I enjoyed a lot. It does not differ too much though, and everyone knows what they'll get. It's a nice filler game and if you like Far Cry (or the newer AC for that matter), you will like this one as well. The challenge even on easy is much harder than you might have gotten used to in 2024, many stealth missions that have to be replayed if you get caught, and only a few hits before you get down. Larger animals can be freightening. I loved the towers, but hated the trucks you have to hijack. Progression could be faster, I unlocked the first really interesting weapons only with 30% into the game. Also, it might happen you traverse the map for 5 minutes with a helicopter, die out of nowhere and have to do it again. Load times could be faster.
While this is still a prime example of padded gametime by repetitive side activities, those activities take place in a gorgeous environment with gameplay mechanics that stay engaging all the **** writing and pacing is off sometimes, with plot holes and exposition dumps, a comic adventure after all. The constant chitchat is hit or miss, but everything else audio-wise is top class. Animations are excellent, however the level of detail is still pretty much PS4. Accessibility options are exemplary.Overall, this game absolutely deserves the praise it gets. 8.5/10
Didn't play much of CoD, but we occasionally play this on LANs because it has extensive multiplayer features, such as local splitscreen, which is very rare nowadays. Could have had a bit more content for its price tag, expansions are also too expensive
Surprisingly good ARPG, finally with controller support. Seems to have had lots of bugs, but I didn't encounter any. Nice graphics, mechanics as expected, but fairly short.
One of the best games I have ever played. Didn't play the first one, but I enjoyed WotW very much, running flawlessly on a well-powered PC with a XONE Controller. Music and sound are fantastic, level design is clever, graphics and animations are perfectly smooth. The story was just okay, but I didn't play because of that. On "easy" it was just the right casual difficulty for me, making me feel insanely agile after I aquired most of the skills. I particularly enjoyed the combat, which lets you freely express your preferred style. You become a true ninja ghost squirrel by the end. However, there was a lot of switching back and forth between the skills, and I didn't use half of them at all. When my girlfriend played she was missing clearer instructions of what to do next. Sometimes it was also not clear to her if it was her skills or the design that would not let her reach a ledge. There could have been a tutorial moki or something that teaches you certain jump choreos. I also would not mind to have a little bit more playtime. The sandworm chase was already patched by the time I played, I actually made it in my second try. After all, this game definitely is a masterpiece.
We 3 had lots of fun in coop and some good laughs at the sometimes wonky physics. Graphics are wonderful. The bosses present quite a challenge. Unfortunately, we got disconnected way too often. There is a quota on savegames which means you need to delete some everytime you want to join a lobby. You also have to re-spend your skill points every time.
Certainly a hidden gem. Very good mix of tower defense and twin stick action. Graphics are good even for 2023 standards, lots of content if sometimes a bit too scripted.
This FPS is an overlooked, must-play gem. It mixes the melee-gunplay of Doom with the upgrade spiral of Diablo, in gorgeous looking, well-optimised environments. Even for 2023 standards. Gameplay is fast, customisable and addictive. The self-ironic tone of the story and the characters is enjoyable with good voice acting. Coop is stable and fun. However, some guns feel too light, loading screens take quite a time, interfaces are clunky and naturally, you have to be fond of a certain repetitiveness. There could have been a little more interaction and more quests in your main base. Coop's story progression is only for the host, but you keep the instanced items.
Fun for 20h and an okay deal for 10€ but it certainly isn't a roguelite. Think of Diablo rifts with different chars. The very few synergies and skill chains there are are fun, but overall most of the runs feel the same, with some must-picks and a lot of nonsense. In 10 Minutes you will probably get 50 +5% stat upgrades. There is no weapon or skill evolution and very little strategy. The UI is a mess with a controller. At the beginning, the dodging mechanic is interesting but later you do nothing but dode. The game gets frustratingly stressful and difficult in the late game, letting you hit a glass ceiling of progression. It's one of the games that make you aggressive. Graphics are okay but lack inspiration, however you need to scale down the effects anyway.
Deep, varied turn-based deckbuilding RPG with accessability options to switch off permadeath. I like the non-grim style and the perfectly polished UI works great with remote play on tablets. Story mode with 2D maps and quests is a great addition to the linear and repetitive structure of Slay the spire, which playstyle is covered with "realm mode". It's hard to put the game down. However, the many (many!) mechanics are not perfectly balanced yet, a lot of the options thrown at you are not properly introduced and kind of overwhelming, as it is very easy to **** up your build while progressing, at least the first time you play. Has a steep difficulty curve too, the first two acts are easy-peasy but then it may start to become really difficult.
Probably the best bullet heaven game there is. It starts slow but I kept coming bet to 100% the game. Really fun synergies to be found. The graphical style reminded me of the Torchlight series, which I like. Played this on PC but somehow it's not yet listed here. It's rather hardware heavy so be alert about the performance on the switch.
I played this a lot and it was very fun, alone and coop. The gunplay is excellent and there are very nice synergies to become truely overpowered. I also love the sound design. Unfortunately, by now, it severely lacks new stages, devs only added a nonsensical horde mode.
It's fun with friends. Controls are a bit unituitive, it is played slightly better with a controller. It's rather hard to drive vehicles and use the crane. The automation is very complicated and it is not so easy to keep your camps tidy due to the handling of the resources. Graphics are ok though rather intense on the GPU, especially when using additional light sources. Sound design is lacking. At least it was quite bug-free when we played it in 2023.
This game is ridiculously bad at telling you what is going on and the unbelievable amount of trial and error did cost me 5 game hours for sure. It was very easy to get soft locked several times without knowing why. After beating the campaign once I wanted to give the apparently free DLC "Shogun" a try -- only to find out it is the very same game with a different skin. There certainly are elements of the game that I enjoyed, the strategy involved, the soundscape, the pixel graphics. I like the scarce crosssave option to play it (and buy it once more) on the switch, although the achievements did not carry over, neither did my playtime of about 20, 25h. This game, unfortunately, has too much wasted potential.
It's aight. You'll get what you know. Not as good as Grim Dawn. But seriously there is no need for being a fanboy, nor is it the worst game ever. Obviously review bombing going on here.
Loving it! It's better with friends, of course. Trap variety is decent, many possible combinations, although there is little incentive to switch once you have clocked in on something. Some stages are very easy, some can be frustratingly difficult, depending on your loadout. The are a few very annoying bugs, e.g. the archers stop firing in later waves. Graphics are beautiful and I do like the sound design and music.
Quite a time sink, very complex but fun with friends. I would like to see some inner story ark, also the presentation inside the zones is very anticlimactic. Sounds, graphics and UI are serviceable at best, but the mechanics are really deep.
I do enjoy some bullet heaven games. I see this game is scratching some folks' itch, but I think it is ugly and too slow. I had issues with steam remote play.
Good 60h space ARPG with beautiful graphics, responsive controls, hit-or-miss soundscape and okay story. The core gameplay is a mixture of intense space combat and relaxed container puzzles and that combination works really well. It's a real pleasure to maneuver your ship through tight spaces. But at the fringes the game shows it's only a double-A title. Especially the trading and faction mechanics are very shallow. The way the story is rushed to the end, how repetetive encounters can become, how similar all of the loot is and how rarely legendaries drop really made me just want to finish it off. You get to open Diablo-inspired rifts, but only after the story is done, at which point I did not really care anymore. Unfortunately, the soundtrack is ridiculously bad. Be aware that this is one of the most performance hungry titles currently out there.
Pretty average game that completely lives off its franchise. It has nice graphics and good sound design, even if the score is a bit arbitrary. The combat system can be fun but is held back by subpar controls. The story is mediocre, side quests are forgettable, the world is mostly lifeless and bland. The game lacks polish in many areas: from your character sleeping on the ground to unintuitive and laggy menu navigation, bad flight controls, much backtracking. You have to change your appearance everytime you equip gear. German voice acting is atrocious. It runs well on my system, so no points taken off for performance. I'll add 1 point to the score because the game manages to provoke racists and transphobes.
15 months after release this game really surprised me. It's a good game, nowhere near the hateful user score here. Very nice graphics, very nice soundtrack, very good gunplay. I don't mind the bad AI or the slight repetitiveness. I even found the story quite fitting and not as cringe as expected, or as bad as in FH5. However, I would have liked to be able to upgrade and customize my gear even further, including the vehicles.
There are a lot of small game design issues (like the fort, the linear world, skill progression and build customisation, fast travel, map resets, lack of story), and still some minor bugs (optimisation, pet is disappearing, levels dont render, enemies get stuck, you get stuck)... ...but it's still fun! It has the torchlight feeling to it, animations and sound are great, gameplay is snappy. I wish there was a bit more variety in environments, skills, enemies, bosses and gear. One playthrough takes around 20h, so you really can't complain about cost per gametime. There is no evolution to TL2, but I guess if you liked the predecessor, you may like this game too (if not for the fishing). It's a shame the game is now abandoned and there is no modding support.
There surely are 50+h of solid fun to be had. However, overall, the game is very disappointing and far from being a masterpiece. It feels like a lot of wasted potential, with lazy and cheap design decisions that make the game worse than its predecessor, especially in QoL and endgame. Yes, particle effects, lighting and texture quality have improved significantly, but at the cost of running choppy, 20-30% slower and/or very aliased. The soundtrack is shockingly bad. There are many examples of questionable design. Online Racing is a joke, there is no possibility to choose what races you want to do. There was an option to tune your car before a race. This was then abused, you were able to select an overpowered tune - so instead of limiting the choice they just removed the option altogether! Now you have to drive back and forth to your home or a festival location to tune your car. There was an option to do Horizon Tour races from the menu, they removed it. Now you have to drive to the map marker every time. There still is no acceptable solution for browsing custom races, you have to put in codes from reddit like it was Nintendo in 2009. Don't even think of the option to create your own championships. There is no meaningful progression, e.g. unlocking cars, classes or tuning parts. So they nerfed wheelspins that you only get 1k rewards regularly. In online free roam, people still just vanish to thin air. In menus, races don't even have individual thumbnails and are stripped of infos like weather or time or class. Most of the story missions take 5 min to get to, watch 1 min of boring cutscene to then drive some nonsensical car crosscountry for 53 seconds. For every minute of racing you have to do 10 minutes of stuff. It's ridiculous. You can drive in sandstorms but the vegetation does not react to it whatsoever, it's just a sepia filter. The seasons just alternate between wet and brown. Not to mention the plethora of bugs. When you (can) open up and start the game for the first time it looks like a delicious meal with appetizer, entrée, main and dessert, plus a cigar and a wonderful wine, but you then discover this is all put in a blender and spoon-fed to you until you vomit. No doubt this is one of the economically most succesful titles of all times, given how much is recycled and sourced out and how well it sold. I can't help but feel like in a fast food shop where they intentionally design the space so you don't stay for too long. Would be nice if Mike Brown actually would be working on improving the game design instead of sitting on a couch all the time.
