Final Fantasy VII Rebirth8

Overall a good game because of the very good presentation, smooth menus, amount of content and production value. The game offers a nice main combat system with many possibilities. However overall, it too often lacks a challenge. One very nice positive about the combat system is the block mechanic, that reduces a % of the damage you take if you are blocking, or reduces it to 0 (plus a bonus effect at times) if you time it perfectly. I like this much better than Dark Souls games dodge roll mechanic, which pairs a quick movement with an interval of frames of invulnerability, making it too spamable and too central and too binary to your defence. However, Dark Souls/Elden Ring combat system overall vastly surpasses that of FF7 Rebirth, because of the overall depth, choice of variables that matter, difficulty and replayability. Indeed in FF7 Rebirth, the many parameters that factor into the combat system are usually unimportant in most of the fights, because the main aspect that matters is having "assessed" the enemy and using the correct elemental type against it (having them all at disposal) and pressing defense or heal.. All things would matter more if the difficulty was higher. I think the Materia builds are a bit straightforward, always better to have heal available and all magic types + assess for the most part. If you have 2 healers available, it doesn't really matter most of the time. If you have 0, it's always worse. You have too many items. If you manage your items very well, there is nothing you can do with all the excess items and money. Another important example that you can notice very early in the game, is tied to the Rest system paired with the fast travel mechanic, along with the ease of reaching the next resting point, and of acquiring more Cushions. The outcome of most fights doesn't really matter in the details, because you can always easily fully recover after a fight by fast traveling and resting at no or little cost and consequence. Etc. In FF7 Rebirth, too much time is spent walking from a point to another only to find a easy task to complete and check some boxes. On top of that, exploration is also too easy and straightforward when all of the points of interest are again given to you on the map, although you could dodge the Towers. Even then, for the most part they aren't very challenging to find or reach. The main card mini game is too much dependent on luck. Many mini games are cool, but require that you go through a lot of easy steps until you reach the steps that would be challenging. An example is the Moogle mini game, nice, but if you are agile at this type of game, you will find the first 4 or 5 steps very easy, and only find a little challenge after 40 hours through the game. Some filler quests are a little tame or too simple. Despite these flaws, there are points of challenge at some bosses and some monster fights. It's just that too much of the time is spent completing too simple tasks. The story moments are usually refreshing, but sometimes a little tame. The original FF7 takes you a bit more straight to the story, and it's not always hard, but it keeps unfolding a narrative strongly. I would rate FF7 higher than Rebirth I think, between 8.5 and 9, notably because of the emotional value, the artistic value (music, story, atmosphere, narrative rythm etc). Rebirth I would rate between 7.6 and 8.3 I think, but it's also a bit different type of game, so I'm *not* saying it's like FF7 but worse. Not sure if I will finish (I'm in chapter 10), but I appreciate the level of detail and the amount of content, and some things about the ambitious structure of the game. Just a game that is overall too simple for experienced gamers I would say, even using Dynamic difficulty. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 gives a lot more challenge to an experience gamer. Also, sometimes watching a lot of cinematics or dialogue feels a little long. Anyway, nice, just wanted to give a little bit of critic, for suggestion of improvement in these types of games. I think it would be good to work better on challenging the experienced gamers and giving higher replayability potential, in a way that enhances the first or a unique playthrough also. I have thought similar about Mario Galaxy, and when I watch Odyssey, I often feel similar. If one is experienced with the older games, aren't these a bit too easy? Maybe it would be better to release two versions of some of these games simultaneously, one for the largest public, and one harder version for experienced gamers. Because it is often hard to provide the higher challenge without also changing the design of the game, rather than just values. Instead of Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow, etc, why not Mario Odyssey/Adventure with the Adventure version harder? I think some players would buy both. Some of us have thousands of hours of gaming and we want to be challenged. I could write more but I will end this text for now. Thank you for reading.

Amazing game. I played for 2500hours and not about to stop. It feels like a competitive, horror survival game. There is an accent on realism which makes it very immersive. The shooting and overal mechanics are top notch at what they are trying to do. There is a lot to learn to play really well, and you'll be surprised how good results it is possible to achieve consistently if you learn well. PUBG is also really good at anticheating and the game is super clean, at least in the mode I play, there are almost 0 cheaters and when you see one and report, they are banned almost immediately. The updates are smart and we are lucky to have a lot of amazing maps. If you are interested in realistic BR, its a must try imo. Just be aware: it's HARD, and also you need a pretty good PC. gl hf

Souldiers8

Souldiers offers good looking 2D graphics with difficult, but non simplistic combat involving a good bunch of different mechanics for attacking as well as defending, and movement. The maps are large although there is still some sense of linearity, as you will end up outleveling some things significantly and usually have a main objective to work towards in a given direction. However the game maintains a good balance of this with stats increase being small enough and the number of side quests and secrets being rather plentiful so that you still have quite some choice with where to go next and what to do, without running into enemies that would be too easy or too hard for your character. Expect to die when you are unaware of new enemy mechanics, as the game is nicely design to still be challenging when you know how things work. It gives difficulty even when using low number of enemies, which act with some amount of unpredictability and damage potential. I expect it has a good replayability. It is playable in the highest difficulty mode from the get go. Sometimes, it may take a bit long to get something done, and some soundtrack may sound a little repetitive. It presents itself slightly like a game for kids, but it is difficult. You will notice that the achievements seem to be achieved by a small % of the players compared to other similar games. I think I would like even more openness with even less stat/power increase, and perhaps a more meaningful consequence to death. Good game.

Very original, nice atmosphere. Gives you plenty of choice. Challenging and balanced, has depth and replayability. I think it has a high potential and really happy to have discovered Loop Hero.
