"Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" is a gift from the movie gods who haven't been very generous lately. I recommend watching it, who knows when someone makes something as good as this again...

"Pretty Woman" wasn't a great movie but I am truly shocked that I even liked it at all. By all merits this is a film that you give your "3" and "2" ratings, but somehow, something in this film makes me not dislike it. Maybe it's the sincerity?

"Little Miss Sunshine" is a great road-trip ensemble comedy. It made me smile, laugh, cheer, cringe and just happy. It may not be the best film ever, but a great film nevertheless.

I don't know how he does it, but James Wan can just pull out horror out of anywhere. While the overall quality of the film isn't as good as, let's say, "The Conjuring", "Insidious" is still scary enough to give it a try.

"Bruno" is no "Borat". It's less hilarious, has a weaker story and lacks the lasting appeal "Borat" had. Although it still made me laugh (a lot), unlike "Borat" I wouldn't watch "Bruno" again.

Merry Christmas

Oct 29, 2016
"Merry Christmas" or "Joyeux Noel" is a fantastic anti-war movie. The film's concept that combines singing Christmas carols with world war 1 is a strange one, but it is handled masterfully. This film needs to get more attention.

This film is so bad that if it was just a little bit worse I would consider it "so bad that it's good". But it's not. "Dreamcatcher" is like a student's film. It's clear that the filmmakers had some marvelous ideas. Unfortunately, they had no idea how to execute them.

I like how this films description calls it "the ultimate romantic comedy". Well, it actually is that. Two great thing about this film: 1. The topic (integrating migrants into societies) is very relevant in today's society. However, the film takes on the issue neutrally - it's neither pro-immigration or anti-immigration. It just shows the difficulties of dealing with the integration of people who are vastly different. 2. It's super-real, yet it isn't a documentary. It may portray an immigrant school, but it's more close to showing how students behave in any ordinary school than any other movie I've seen.

I mostly like Quentin Tarantino and I really enjoyed "Inglorious ****" until the final act in which this film went completely idiotic. I'm okay with historical inaccuracy, because I care about the story and if the story makes sense in its own world with its own rules everything is OK. This film, however goes completely against the logic it established for itself and therefore ruined the ending for me. I would have rated this with a "9", because I really did enjoy the most of it. But the terrible ending makes me downgrade this into a "7".
