Most underrated game of the year! Already have 350 hours on record and the game is still fun. Only if you are certain that you will not play MP (MP in BB2 is easily arrangable) and you shy away from everything that is challenging then do not buy! If you like TBS with RPG elements and competitive MP, this is instant purchase.

Game is basic TBS strategy in line with the classic panzer general. Very good conversion of the Panzer Corps series into Wh40k universe. There are the traditional elements of core force which gains experience and carries on from scenario to scenario in the campaign. Units are divided to different groups (infantry, vehicles, tanks, artillery, air etc) each of which have tens of different units that you can upgrade as the campaign progress. New things (apart from the setting and units) are that each unit can have multiple weapons with different stats. Also attack usually lead to counterattack, which gives more weight to attack range (no counterattack if target is out of range). Units have health and are very varied on how many individuals there are in the unit (the unit strength counter). For example goblins can have as much as 40 unit strength when tanks usually have 5. Game feels much more fluid than Panzer Corps and the graphics have been improved a bit. Very enjoyable gameplay experience so far. Minor complaints come from some missing UI elements. What is morale? How many points does reinforcement of unit take? How far can a unit see (there is no unit stat to tell this)?

Good: - 4X strategy and RPG combined - Customization of units (Would I like to build a unit with spear or hammer, Shield or not, Armor pieces of leather, iron mail, chain mail, Some perks to improve HP's, horse or some magic items etc) - AI (good and challenging AI from release, this is really seldom in these days) - Living world with dragons, ogres, spiders et to kill, Quests to be done and treasures to be found - Bugfree, which you cannot take for granted either The Bad: - Playable races are all humanlike (no orcs here)

This game is absolutely great. I've been playing the campaign (turn-based) for 50 hours and yet the game feels 'new'. There are a lot of races to choose from and play against and they do feel different; Every race have their own strengths and weaknesses. Wan't to beat your enemies - take orcs. Wan't to outrun them? Take skaven. Wan't to bypass them by throwing the ball around - choose elves etc. Players gain experience and new stats and skills from matches. Chaos teams also get mutations. You as manager can also equip players with better armor. There is a huge roleplaying aspect that is done very well. But it's not just going up. Your player can also suddenly die on te game pit. Animations are very well done and as for the sounds I especially love the commentators remarks, which vary with the teams on the field. The UI is well done and everything work as I as a new player would think. The AI still seems very intelligent. Every match is a challenge, and I think that as the campaign progresses the AI becomes more intelligent? For example at first I didn't notice much of a passing game from AI, but later on you really have to watch those throwers and catchers. Only negative is that the game rules are not explained within game. So at first it might be hard to win matches. I think it is not good that many people here give 0, based on that they dont know how to play the game! "I get stomped on every game" should be a positive sign in terms of game AI.
