The game lacks a single-player campaign, which was highly publicized and which I was really looking forward to.

The "game" from the beginning is what the creators announced, so I don't understand most of the criticism. I like the idea of a community-driven storyline. The story develops interestingly. It pretty looks good. The game still suffers from bugs and glitches, but is constantly being improved by the developers.
