Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3: V Generation10
Jan 22, 2016
It's a good game. All this hate is nonsensical. It's funny, clever, lewd, and has solid gameplay. The characters are all great. What kind of psychopath doesn't want to play a game starring Yukari? The story is quite good. It has good acting and genuinely hilarious jokes. If you hate this game, you hate cute girls, comedy, and happiness, end of story. I'm sorry, Nep is fantastic, you're just wrong.

Citizens of Earth9
Jan 21, 2015
Don't really understand why it's getting so much hate. It's a perfectly serviceable game. It's like Earthbound mixed with Suikoden 2 mixed with The Stick of Truth. Let's get the bad part out of the way, you enter a building, loading screen, you walk upstairs, loading screen, you walk back downstairs, loading screen, then you walk outside, long loading screen. That's the only flaw I can find so far. The graphics are charming and pretty, it runs silky smooth, looks beautiful. The story is neat, it's fun, there appears to be full voice acting and a considerable amount of content. A ridiculous amount of characters to recruit, all of which can be named. You get pieces of donuts from the enemies. The battle system is perfect, the attacks are hilarious. You play as the Vice President of Earth. That alone makes this awesome. He can't even attack, he just gets others to fight his battles for him. And his enemies, are protesters. I've only played about 2 hours so take this with a grain of salt, but so far I have found it to be massively entertaining. People **** and complain about how games are all the same, cheap clones and boring sequels. This game is trying to do something different. And I applaud ATLUS for supporting a weird experiment like this. It's like the Tesla Effect, Only ATLUS would give something like this a chance. I doubt they ever expected to make multiple millions off of it, they just supported it because it was interesting and they're not afraid to take risks. Who knows, maybe it'll become a cult hit or something. Stranger things have happened. They hated Earthbound too. I like it. Normally I would give this game an 8, but I'm voting 9 to offset for all the hate. (I can't speak for the other versions but the Vita version plays fine. No real problems that I can see so far. The other versions might have better load times, but this is much better suited to a portable console. 3DS might be the sweet spot, but I like the Vita better. It has a nicer screen.) NO CROSS BUY.... =(

Crimson Gem Saga8
Aug 13, 2014
I avoided Crimson Gem Saga like the plague as I was picking up Growlanser, Yggdra Union, Gungnir, Knights in the Nightmare, and Riviera for 5 dollars each like an addiction during the constant ATLUS sales. But I finally picked up this and Hexyz Force and it's really good. The story seems decent so far, the combat was good, the characters are great, I was pleasantly surprised, it's really cool. It's a game where the main character is Kanji and his sidekick is Rise Chan. That alone is awesome on levels I didn't even know existed.... Ech sure it's kind of mediocre, but it's still a solid game with a great voice cast. The battle system is fine, I was terrified by VVV This, guy down here who was complaining about the music, but honestly the game has so much going for it that I don't really give a damn about the music. It's certainly not a good high quality epic experience like a Persona or something, I don't think it's even trying to be, it's just a fun little game, with a good cast of characters, and some non-boring story elements. For 5 dollars it's crazy good value. What do you expect for 5 dollars? Not much, in which case it's pretty good. Although I've only played it for a few hours so I can't really give an educated opinion yet. But I liked it..... Picking up these 7 games for 35 dollars is not a bad idea at all, my Vita rules now. Any one on it's own might be a bit lacking, but the sheer volume of content make each of them like delving into a chapter of one great book. My favorite was Growlanser, but this one is still good, it surprised me.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty9
Jul 22, 2014
Abe's Odyssey was one of my favorite videogames. If you've never played it, you should almost certainly check this out. It's one of the better games on the PS4. If you liked the first game, this is almost obsessively the same, everything is just better. The graphics are better, the controls and mechanics are better. The cutscenes are better. Everything about it is better. Also, I never really noticed how violent this game is. I'm not one for games with a message, but this one kind of hit home. You are a mudoken, a slave, working in rupture farms. They got rich selling paramite pies and scrab cakes, but now the paramites and the scrabs are going extinct, and their profits are falling, so now they're going to eat you. You have to escape and save your friends, or let them die and see what happens. The graphics are wonderfully beautiful. Also, I tried getting the original 2 games on my Vita, but with L2 and R2 being mapped to either the nonfunctional rear touch pad or the front screen, the games are basically unplayable, for once I can play these games properly. And I get to play the best version. It's going to take a while to work my way through it because it's a pretty substantial game, but it appears that they have obsessively recreated the original and only made things prettier and better. It does all you can expect from an HD remake. It doesn't ruin the game (Silent Hill 2 HD Fog), it's the exact same game for better or worse. Maybe they could have innovated a bit, but that would just be messing with the source material and people would be angry. I can say with some certainty that this is a good game. I mean I already played it, so it's good, because I remember. How much better this is, is kind of up in the air. I like the graphics and PLEASE RELEASE THE VITA VERSION.... sorry.... sorry.... *tick* That's an unconscious reflex, it cannot be prevented. Well, I appear to have gone insane. It's a decent game, worth checking out, especially if you didn't play the original but *especially* if you've played the original. And look um, I've really been looking forward to this game, I like it, it's great. And if they reach some very modest sales targets, they're going to remake Abe's Exodus. Abe's Exodus was the better game. I want to see that happen. =( {Hey everybody go buy Rogue Legacy}

Daylight7
Apr 30, 2014
What I enjoy about Daylight is this, as that loading screen slowly moves along, I can hear my PS4 saying “Hey Boss, you have to check out this thing I made, I I I I I I I'm not even sure what it is exactly, all I know is that I made it myself. I did exactly what you told me to do. And I'm really excited about it!” And you kind of go “Awwww he's created a mediocre survival horror game, it's adorable. I'm going to hang it on my wall.” But jokes aside I always love wandering through the bland hallways computers make when they're randomly generating a large environment. The environments are very large and maze like, sprawling rooms filled with mostly nothing. And as you explore a feeling that you're being hunted, and could be attacked at any time. You don't know if the music is signalling an enemy or if it's just screwing with your head. I have to admit, it scared me. I scare easily. Amnesia is one of my favorite games of all time but I never got past the first actual enemy, I just watched the damn thing on youtube. This game left me extremely uneasy. Lots of suspense, not a lot of action. The encounters are brief, I just run away. The enemies can be a bit cheap. But it still terrified me, even though I'm really easy to terrify.... So I don't know man, I don't know. It's certainly not great, but a 3 is a bit harsh, I'd say it's a 6.5, but since they only allow 6 or 7 I'll give it a 7. Also I have grown to have an affection for Sarah. I think she is a wonderful idiot. She's like Adrienne in Phantasmagoria. Whenever she delivers one of her terribly acted lines I can't help but smirk. Her fear amuses me. Although sometimes we're on the exact same page, terrified. But here's the thing, I don't hate it. I'm sorry, if you hate this game so much you give it a 3 or a 0 I understand completely, but I just find it fun. I like wandering around the strange labyrinthine mazes the computer constructs. I enjoy listening to the game trying to make me go crazy with the music. I also like the enemies, they're actually pretty scary.... So whatever.... 7. Rate however you want, I can't save this game, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. Is it worth the 10 dollars I paid for it? Yes, many times over. But it's not a perfect Mona Lisa or anything, it's like a low grade bag of potato chips. And you know what else? The environments aren't bad either, they're pretty frightening, but also just, very interesting. It's par for the course for procedurally generated levels, but still I think the level design was actually kind of nice. Overall the environments are pretty good quality. I think it's neat. Graphics aren't half bad either. Not great, but not nearly as bad as people are saying. Haven't finished it yet, but so far it's been pretty enjoyable. If you're really into that sort of thing, maybe it's worth a look.

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars10
Apr 16, 2014
This game is being ridiculously underrated for reasons entirely separate from quality. It started with a hack gaming pundit who accused this game of supporting eugenics. Yes, Conception II: Children of The Seven Stars supports killing off the weak and the sick, and sterilizing mental degenerates. Chlotz is especially guilty in this regard, having a callous disregard for human life, that is comparable to Stalin. They say satire is funniest when the people don't realize it's satire, but in this case it is tiresome. Accusing this game of any moral crime is like saying The Life of Brian is deeply offensive to Christians. It doesn't just objectify women, it objectifies absolutely everything, it objectifies the men, it objectifies the women, it objectifies the children, it even objectifies the monsters. That's What Makes It Funny!!! Most of the reviewers here appear to have gone, "This game has fanservice, automatic 6!" Fanservice?! In a dating sim?... Stop The Presses!! Well screw you, fanservice is awesome. If only it could have reached to the heights of OliOli. The story is ludicrous, you are a professional ****, on his way to the academy, you want to kill monsters, or get laid or something, within the first 3 and a half minutes they discover with machines that you have a massive overabundance of male sexual energy, which can only mean you have been sent by God, to have sexytime with pretty girls. By getting sexy with pretty girls, you can produce children, which you use as minions to fight for you in the dungeons. That's the PG version. The game is a lot less subtle. Everybody is perverted. Really perverted. If you liked Leisure Suit Larry you'll like this game. You've got Chlotz, who is just a ****, if Junpei and Yosuke had a baby, it would be Chlotz. This is actually starting to piss me off. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this game, it's fine. I'm starting to wonder exactly how many hidden gems have been buried by these reviewers over the years, never to be seen again. Do you know what I'm giving this? In my world this deserves an 8.5 or a 9, it's not perfect, it's just harmless fun, a guilty pleasure. But if you're going to give this a 5, with absolutely no regard for the quality of the game, whatsoever, just because of your personal agenda, then screw you I'm giving this a 10. There's problems... The waifus seem a bit empty and lifeless, they're kind of just waifus for the sake of waifus. Chie was the best Waifu, because she was such an amazing character. Incidentally, the Japanese reviews were generally positive. If you hate this game, you have no sense of humor. The gameplay is good. The battle system is neat. It's a really decent approximation of the Persona dungeons. They're all randomly generated, you run around killing monsters and leveling up on your way to kill bosses. The battle system is great, it's weird, they're doing their own thing, there's so many layers it's kind of difficult to even know what the hell is going on. They expect you to pour over those tutorials, because they're throwing systems at you by the dozen, at least at the start. But you don't really need to know what's going on to win, so whatever. The graphics are really nice. Also this game has the best porn music ever. As for the visual novel style story, I surrendered to visual novels long ago, and it no longer bothers me. I find it massively entertaining. Practically every scene has me on the verge of giggling crazily. It's just so damn stupid, it's wonderful. It's just about getting laid, everybody just wants to get laid, with monsters. Maybe they do something with the plot, I hope not, because this is hilarious. It even has 8 endings, one ending for each of the girls, and, heheh, the harem ending. Really the best way to describe this game is that it's a parody of the Persona games, but that's the point, they boiled Persona down to it's component parts, threw away all the good stuff, and kept the fat. Every time you play Persona, you're actually playing this game, on some level. That is why it's glorious. Keep in mind, I've only played this for about 4 hours, but so far I've enjoyed every minute. So I can't really give this game a fair hearing yet, my opinion might change, one way or the other. But I'm glad I bought this, it's pure stupid fun. ATLUS games aren't always well received, but even the bad games maintain a level of quality. This game is a love letter to ATLUS from Spike Chunsoft, the love letter says; "Screw you".

Deception IV: Blood Ties9
Mar 28, 2014
When I saw these reviews, I was really worried. I thought I'd thrown away my money when I preordered this game. When I was a kid I remember Deception II - Kagero being one of the best games on the PS1. At the time I enjoyed playing a game that cast you as the villain. The concept has aged, these reviews make sense, compared to modern games this is a bit lacking. But if you enjoyed the Deception games, this is the best game in the series. It's everything I could want out of a sequel, hundreds of traps, lots and lots of heroes foolishly entering your domain with detailed backgrounds, good graphics, decent writing, a deeply evil main character, they're sacrificing people to summon the Devil, and, well.... It's got sexy girls, I get that in the post Anita age any manifestation of male sexuality is automatically evil, but as a guy I enjoyed the main character's outfit. Anyway that's a minor aspect. Being able to play this game again on handheld is wonderful. The story is pretty decent, with lots of backstory for each character. The only thing I'm not sure about is how long the game is. I assume and would be happy with 10 hours, no entry on howlongtobeat, and gamefaqs says the game is 60 hours which must be trolling. Still, it's a pretty substantial game. Be prepared to sink a pretty serious amount of time into it if you want to beat the game. Incidentally, this game is stupid hard, 1997 hard. You can only save every third fight, you can expect to spend well over an hour on some of the chapters, you die again and again and again. But when you finally kill the boss or get a perfect combo it's very satisfying. It's far from perfect, but it's fun. I'm enjoying it. It's another great game in the Vita's growing library of excellent titles. Also, you're not just fighting foolish heroes that invaded your domain, you will also encounter civilians. And of course Laegrinna coldly kills them, because she's a jerk. In the GTA era this isn't particularly shocking, but for me this is delicious nostalgia. This is my retro fix for the next six months. Some of the descriptions actually made me feel bad for killing them. I also really like the way your sisters exert a terrible influence on Laegrinna, encouraging her to murder her victims in strange and cruel ways, for big rewards. In addition they have 100 challenge missions, a mission editor, and a practice mode. Also, hey, multiple endings. I assumed they'd cheap out on that for the sequel, but they're present. This is everything you could want from a Deception game. Not everybody want's a Deception game. It's not amazing, but it's not bad either, people who enjoy that sort of thing will find that this is the sort of thing they enjoy.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers10
Feb 9, 2014
This is a wonderful game with a great story, good voice acting, great characters, good gameplay, and a weird and quirky spirit. It's one of the most bizarre SMT games out there, but it's fun. The mechanics have aged, the graphics are a pile of waste, but that did not stop me from enjoying a thoroughly good story. It was fairly challenging. Also, you should keep backup saves, because at certain points you discover that a decision you made an hour ago has screwed you out of the easy path. Also, post game, there is quite a lot of content if you want it. Different endings, EX dungeons. Lot's to do. The characters are all wonderfully written, the comedy is great, the voice acting is excellent. Not the best in the series, but still good. I give it a 9, then I bump that up a point to offset for trolling.
