Game of Thrones2

Huge disappointment. The people that created that game should be ashamed and leave the industry for good, because they obviously have no talent. The story is pretty good but holy **** the gameplay is unbearable. Seriously gameplay wise this it's not just bad, it's so bad that you have to ask yourself if it was intended that way, perhaps some inside joke or competition between devs, who can make the crappiest stuff.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown2
Dec 4, 2014
Okay... really fast review, because there is no point in investing any more time in anything related to that game. The game just plain ****. The combat is trivial and boring, there is no depth to it at all. Whoever designed the enemies and the overall combat system should stick to coloring books. The UI feels like some bad console port and is miles behind... hm.. let's say Chaos Gate - a game nearly 15years older. You are constantly bothered with - rather ugly looking - cut-scenes, that only deliver no real information - or information that could've the player in a much better way. Seriously, combat - **** building a base - boring, cut-scenes - annoying, graphics - okay-ish at best... the overall design of the game is just plain bad. Oh and btw. I am not familiar with the previous games of the xcom series, so this is not a disappointed fan boy rant, but I genuinely rate this game 2/10, because it ****.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls4

I know that as an aRPG fan and Diablo 2 veteran I'm no longer blizzards key demographic and that Blizzard is more about bringing games to people who never played video games before - i.e. Bashiok's (ex D3 CM) grandmother. But still I feel like I have to at least voice my opinion on this. Okay let's go ahead: Good about RoS is, that they finally introduced a mode were you don't have to experience the sad excuse of a storyline. Even if you don't know the Diablo lore you probably think the story is annoying, obvious and feels like reading a really bad comic book. As a Diablo fan you will recognize many inconsistencies with previous games/books and the story is an insult and disgrace. The new adventure mode allows you do go whereever you want - great, but can someone please tell who the f*ck seriously thought that not being able to switch acts is good? I mean how BAD, just how goddamn bad of a designer do you have to be. Now on to the problems that STILL persists: The loot is one-dimensional, some people actually think that "loot 2.0" fixed it, but they will come back complaining when they hit the next upgrade wall. Again, the real problem is that loot is one-dimensional. More is always better, there are no interesting choices what piece of gear to use. This doesn't change just because the legendary items now have some gimmicky proc effects. As the itemization, the skill system also has 0 depth. Zero. You chose 6 skills and 6 runes and now 4 passive skills. Wow. Such choice. There is NO way to customize your build besides gear - which doesn't have the necessery depth to make up for this horrible excuse of a skill system. The reason point based skillsystems ARE more interesting is because having the same skills does not equal having the same playstyle. Think of a necromancer (there still isn't a summoning class in D3 - lol) that has an attack spell/support and his minions. Although people chose the exact same skills, in a point based system they can have a different focus - thus CUSTOMIZING a given build to their playstyle. Skill damage is dependend on you weapon damage and main attribute. This is one of the most **** things ever designed, whoever did this - please leave the industry for good. I mean seriously, I don't know how but they managed to make the attributes even more shallow and boring than Diablo 2 - where at least you had to decide max block yes/no etc. Blizzard, why have you forsaken us? I refuse to believe that catering to a wider, more casual audience means you have to leave the fans of the prequels in the rain. You could have made a real Diablo 3 and the casual people would have still played through it one or two times and would have had a blast and the Diablo2 vets would have had a true successor for the next 10 years. All in all 4/10 - below average.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft5
Mar 16, 2014
Average game, that is fun for a couple of minutes but gets boring pretty fast. Also even for a TCG it's too depended on luck, making the games a coinflip. Most decisions are also without any alternative making the gameplay itself stale rather quickly. Blizzard keeps following the mantra "Easy to learn, easy to master", which again results in a game that just doesn't motivate playing beyond the duration it's designed for - a couple of hours.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel7

A VAST improvement over Sacred 1, which was pure **** Some nice design ideas and this game could've set up the whole franchise for a golden path, but it seems like Sacred 3 is going to follow the Diablo 3 way straight to **** mountain.

Incredibly poorly designed game. The decisions the designers made are at times even worse than the D3 devs. I think this game was probably the most disappointing game I'Ve everplayed after Diablo 3.

While having nice combat and sound, the game fails at anything else. The itemization is very weak and character customization is non-existant, paired with a story that is an insult to all Diablo fans (games nad books). Horrible game, wouldn't advice to buy it.

Good ending to the trilogy, and honestly a rather shameful display of gamers today. I admit to only having played the extendet cut but even with the cut explanations it is not acceptable what some people said/did. Only real downside is origin-only. Please stop that

Warlock: Master of the Arcane8
Oct 24, 2013
A good turn-based game like Civ. The biggest downside though: No simultaneous turns in MP. Very sad. Other than that the only real critique I have is that there are only 3 (+1 DLC) factions with not really that much buildings and units. Could be a little bit more complex with a Civ like tech tree, or in general greater unit progression. All in all decent game. 8/10

Total War: Rome II7
Oct 24, 2013
I rate it a 7 out of 10, as it is a decent game, but does not live up to the Total War standard and doesn't even come close to the original Rome 1. I'm writing this after patch 5 has been applied and sadly the performance is still... not atrocious but not good either. The battles are still somewhat too short and AI does some really weird things. But actually these are not the issues that I found saddening, I much rather regretted seeing that still all factions somewhat play the same and there has not been done enough to make them distinct from each other. All in all I recommend buying it for 25€ or less.

At first glance PoE does seem like an innovative and fresh game, and although it holds true in some areas there are many many problems still in the game. Just to elaborate on a few: 1) Solo vs. Multiplayer. GGG doesn't care about solo players. Not. At. All. I've been in beta for over 2 years, that means longer than most the more "known" forumites, and when I joined in 2011 people were complaining that the game is a facerole in party and a drag as soloplayer. Well guess what, this hasn't changed at any given time over the last years. The game is still just a facerole as party and a rather frustrating experience as solo player. Show some good design and give monsters new (aoe) skills depending on how many players are in a party. Don't just increase health and damage. This would also battle the problem of multiboxers. 2) Selffound vs. Trading. This game relies heavily on trading and playing selffound or offering a selffound mode seems unthinkable as GGG's lead designer say things like: "finding a unique item makes you excited because it has value to other players" How can someone who likes ARPG say something so utterly wrong. There are a ton of players who just want to play selffound and mostly or with friends and PoE does everything it can to alienate those people. 3) Magic Find. Mindlessly copied from D2 although it should be known that it is a completly design as an item stat. No innovation whatsoever. 4) Difficulty. Again no innovation whatsoever. Just a gear-check. Difficulty is only increased by increasing enemy health and damage. How about something more fun and something that actually rewards skill? Give monster different skills that require you to dodge, or make you take care not getting swarmed... oh wait.. 5)... I forgot, you can't actually make this game more fast-paced because it will desync all the time if you use something like flicker strike or high movement speed/attack speed. 6) Skills. Although the trigger gems and support gem thing is very nice there are still missing a ton of actually fun spells. A fire witch has fireball and firestorm. Incredible. I know that this will get better over time but nevertheless I feel like pointing it out. ;) 7) Item design is overall really good but the unique items often end up being a disappointment. The design goal here is to make unique items a build enabler, but especially in lower levels this makes finding one of the very rare unique items frustrating. Identifying a unique shield at level 30 and seeing that ALL it offers is the keystone passive "pain attunement" will result in you rolling eyes instead of thinking "wow what a great item". 8) Item progression is... well. Not that great to be honest. The skill system is something new, but at the end of the day it's just inferior to a skill point based system design like TQ. Also the required links/sockets and the rather rare drops of orbs of fusing will add to making self-found an unenjoyable experience. Well I could go on and on, but let's just end with this: Path Of Exile is a decent game and I still see lots of potential, although speaking from 2 years of experience I will say that I doubt that they will now suddenly start to fix, what they ignored for so long.

Not as good as CoH 1, but still a good game. Yes, it is disappointing considering that this is CoH 2 we're talking about but it's a good RTS. A lot of people are rating it 0 because of the campaign showing the russian war crimes or something... the thing is, you should keep in mind that everybody knows what the **** did horrible horrible things. But if you have any idea about history you should know that the Udssr and stalin weren't much better.

Diablo III4

I will try to be as unbiased as possible: + Fluent gamplay and fun combat + Good sound effects + Easy to learn... - easy to master - Horrible story, really the writing is atrocious - Skill system is pure **** - Doesn't offer any real customization - Graphics are always blurred and even highest setting looks bad - Horribly designed skills - Horrible itemization - General design of important game aspects underwhelming All in all: 4/10 would not buy again. As a Diablo fan you will find the story is an insult to the genre and to its fans. The itemization is just terrible and everybody who was tasked with the job should leave the gaming industry forever. As should the designers of the skill system it offers no customization at all. It is obvious that the D3 developers don't understand what makes a good aRPG because this game is an arcade game that caters to less than casual players. As a Diablo fan this game is a: -1 10
