8.6
+ Incredible atmosphere made alive by first rate sound design
+ Logical, interesting puzzles
+ Castle Brennenburg is an interesting place to explore
+ Genuine feeling of loneliness, terror and helplessness - Some AI inconsistencies can make the monsters become annoyances more than threats
- Compatibility problems in Windows 7 with some sound cards
- Unimpressive ending
- Overabundance of lighting resources removes some of the challenge

The Book of Unwritten Tales9

This is a fantastic classic adventure number with spectacular presentation and very few flaws. Among these would be a few visual and sound glitches namely desynced audio and animations that don't fit well with the background, and the often mentioned lack of pre-rendered cut-scenes after the beginning. The script is funny throughout, each of the environments are simply marvelous and the characters well-designed with great voice-acting (although they could use better textures and lighting to fit in better). This is a game that you should own and that you should use to try to get new gamers into classic adventure gaming.

If you don't like this game you're a f****** p****. Whoever rated it less than 10 doesn't know **** Actually it should be rated 11. In fact it's the only game ever, with Half-Life, that should be rated 11/10.

if you're the sort who plays racing games with the arrow keys and never turned on manual shifting (which is not in this game at all), you might think this is a good title, otherwise ignore this sorry waste of code

The guy at PC gamer who decided to give this gem a 54 is one heartless bastard. This game is exactly what someone who has been playing the Impression titles from the start could ask for. It perfectly recaptures the same relaxing tension and excitement with breathtaking visuals and detail. Nothing is as satisfying and rewarding as looking at the living, breathing city that you created in this game. While the military aspect is still somewhat lacking, at least it's more elaborate than past iterations. The only problem is that even today it's very hard to run, looking at a whole city makes a modern gaming rig crawl. But even then you still go back to panoramic view as soon as you're done building, it's just too good looking.
